Color Club Halo Hues: Beyond, Cosmic Fate & Cherubic

The urge to blog has just not been there lately, which is why I've been patchy and MIA with the posts :(
I just don't really have anything to say and I'm loathe to just post swatches without any words. Maybe that'll have to change?

Hope all of you are doing swell though!!! I've got some Color Club holos to show you today.

Color Club Beyond

First off, Beyond is a black linear holo. It's not as grey as the photos betray, but it isn't anything like a jet black either. It is moderately strongly holographic though.

Color Club Cosmic Fate

Cosmic Fate is a copper-peach hued linear holo. Check out the flash photo, seriously prismatic! She might actually be one of the strongest holos I own.

Color Club Cherubic

Cherubic is a nude/beige metallic holographic which is insanely prismatic also. I love these coloured holos, they feel office appropriate, yet I get that giddy feeling wearing them because a rainbow is never far away!

The formula for all of these is fantastic; buttery with absolutely zero dragging or unevenness to deal with. You can get away with one coat if you're in a hurry and I used two for the photos.

My OPI Mariah Carey Collection Picks

I've been very selective with new OPIs lately. I just got to the point where I didn't actually need ALL the polishes! Now I'm trying my hardest to only buy big brand lacquers that I don't have something like already in my collection.

The Mariah Carey Collection had quite a few interesting releases, but I stuck to the two most special ones!

OPI Sprung

Sprung is a gorgeous orange/gold/pink micro-flake shimmer. It's another Warm & Fozzie, Pros & Bronze relative. There is a kind of foil look about it at times. I only needed 2 easy to apply coats for full coverage, whereas these micro-flakes tend to be sheer, Sprung is pretty pigmented.

 OPI Stay The Night

Stay The Night is a light black liquid sand with deep pink glitter. I think I like the finished product because the fine pink hexes sparkle so nicely when it's matte. The formula is a little disappointing though, because the base is very thin and comes off looking like a deep brown, so I used 4 thin coats in the end for full coverage and maximum blackness! You can get away with 3 if you aren't as picky :) Dry time is longer than the average lacquer.

Here it is with two coats of Aqua Daisy Glitter Gloss:

Glitter hungry indeed! I prefer it textured.

Which are your favourites from the Mariah Carey line?

Rhinestone Storm: a born pretty store review

Press Sample

I've got a really handy nail art tool to show you today.
It's a white wax pencil you use to pick up and place rhinestones, glitter, or other nail art decorations on your nails.

I am useless at applying rhinestones and loose glitter/glequins to my nails so these wax pencils are a must have when it comes to me and nail art. This took me a few months to actually use because I didn't have any way to sharpen the pencil except to use a kitchen knife; which I really didn't want to do :) Once I bought a pencil sharpener - there were absolutely none in the house even though me and mum have heaps of eyeliners and lip liners that need sharpening too - I could finally try it out!

Zoya Storm with green and blue rhinestones from Born Pretty Store

It was so easy to place the rhinestones! I just picked them up with the end of the pencil and placed each of them on to the wet polish. They stuck really well too.

You can buy these pencils in a pack of two for US$1.99 from Born Pretty Store with free worldwide shipping.
The next time you make a purchase from BPS feel free to use the NPA 10% discount code below

I love Zoya Storm too FYI. The holo shards sparkle so intensely in person! And it's very black so I think it'd make a great base for a galaxy mani, which I really ought to try out pronto.

Do any of you struggle to pick up and place nail decorations too? Do you think you'll give these pencils a go?

Piper Polish overload!

Press Sample

(L-R) Orange'ya Glad It's Spring?, Temptress, Fusion, Dark Star, Teenage Wasteland, Perfect Addition, Iron Maiden

I have a total of seven polishes from Piper Polish Co. to show you today. Most of these are new or soon to be released by Erin, the woman behind Piper!

I've blogged about Piper Polish in the past, but for those of you who are new to the brand, here is a little blurb from Erin herself,

" I have always been obsessed with nail polish but never was able to find colors that I really loved. I would always think up things I would add or mix to make them "different". I started experimenting with my loose shadows, powders etc. and was amazed that I could actually make something that was pretty close to nail polish!!! Once I found the proper ingredients, that was it, I was hooked. In order to support my obsession, I decided to try to sell my creations. After all, I only have 10 fingers and 10 toes and my wallet is unfortunately not bottomless. Fast forward a year and here I am! I still love thinking up new creations and trying to crack the code on old favorites. What I love most of all is the interaction with my customers. I just love how open, friendly and welcoming everyone I have encountered has been so far."

Now, on to the polish.

A Good Friday Mini Swatch Spam

Good Friday to you ladies!

I have some random swatches for you today:

 Cult Nails Fetish

Fetish is a black wax finish from Cult Nails' Two Year Anniversary Collection. That basically means it's a matte finish, perhaps slightly satin-matte? I applied two easy coats, though one thick coat would do if you are pinched for time. I did get a few bumps on my nails which might have to do with the thickness of the polish. I'll try adding a few drops of thinner next time I wear Fetish. Fantastically naughty name, no?

Specialita HITS Mari Moon Unconventional

I've had Unconvential for at least nine months, and have woefully, only worn it twice!!! This multichrome from the Mari Moon inspired collection is magnificent though! What looks like a red-purple duochrome in the bottle actually shifts pink-purple-blue,orange/yellow-red! Here I've layered two coats over Fetish, but you can get away with 3 thin coats alone. The formula is very thick so I recommend thinning it to avid tip shrinkage. It's the perfect subtle multichrome, to ease you in to the trend!!

Nicole by OPI For Gold Time's Sake

For Gold Time's Sake is a magnificent mix of micro flakes in a sheer antique gold base. It looks to be primarily made up of gold and colour shifting flakes in purple-blue-fuchsia. It is beautiful and intricate and no matter what the lighting, it is a sparkling sensation!!! I applied 3 thin, not quite watery coats for full coverage.

I hope Good Friday is treating you well, have you been munching on chocolate already?!
