Back to Gaeta to pick up the pictures of the exhibition (see last post), as planned we stopped to draw at the magnificent cliffs of Monte Orlando, where they're called "the cracked mountain".
The weather was gorgeous, people were even bathing at sea (mid-march!), the sun shone on the pinkish-greyish rocks and the sea was rippled. Maritime pines wore dramatic, contorted poses just like Canova's Daphne, jutting out towards the void.
Sitting on the ridge, I tackled this 20x50 cm. watercolour on Magnani "narrow" pad; quite happy with the colours, but for composition's sake I would have preferred the pine further down.

Gaeta Serapo's beach
Mini Sketch done from the beach of Gaeta Sunday, February 26 while the children were playing on the beach, the sky was cloudy but the scenery beautiful and my heart was happy!
In Gaeta you can admire the exhibition of drawings naturalistic exposed to 18 and opened at the XI Italian Conference Ringers.
