Packed my bags

I have spent the day gathering things. Packing things I think Cricket and I will need for a road trip. Cricket has been worried his favorite toys will be left behind. Though out the day I would find a bear, a pig and boomer sitting in a pile by my feet and those big old puppy dog eyes staring at me as if to say don't forget to pack these. It's been almost 2 years since I have been to San Antonio. I feel the need to spend time with my family. To sit with Heather in her studio during the day while the kids are in school. Fixing dinner and having a family meal together in the evening. Listening to Hannah and Evangeline spin stories about their day. It will take 10 hours for Cricket and I to make it across Louisiana and half way across Texas. My IPOD is ready to play some tunes as we travel through the swamps and bayous. If you don't hear from me for awhile not to worry I will be two stepping my way across Texas.

September Bead Journal Page

My bags are packed, my beads are in my carry-on (large purse) and we are ready for flight in the morning. Las Vegas here we come. We are staying at the Flamingo Hotel. A perfect theme for my September Bead Journal page. Flamingo Carved Tagua Nut This bead holds so many memories for me of great trips with my friend Marcie. One of our many following Judith across country on her trek from Tombstone, AZ to Atrium, New Hamphsire. Beading together trying out new bead projects. Good friends, good food and time spent with friends. I finshed a few other bead projects this month. I realized when I put them all together there was a lot of purple. This sent me on a quest to find out what I could about the color purple. Not to mention a trip to the store to find something to wear with all this purple! Purple is the color trend for fall this year. To read about the color purple go here It's time to call it a night "Gracie" You got a plane to catch in the morning!

The Bead and Button Show

I haven't been to the Bead & Button show for several years. I remember the first year I went and how inspired I was when I got home. This year was no different. The beadwork on display was humbling. My favorite part of the show is the Bead Dreams Competition. This year I watched the progress of the Lone Beader's 1943 Chevy Fire Truck. What a thrill to see this displayed at the show with a red ribbon. Congratulations Diane! Sherry Serafini "Million Dollar Baby" Be still my heart! This piece took my breath away. Watch for "The Art of Bead Embroidery" Techniques, Designs, & Inspiration by Heidi Kummli and Sherry Serafini to be released September 2007 by Kalmbach. Beki from Out at Whim has some great pictures on her blog. We had one day at the show and my sister had an agenda. She made a list of vendors and items she wanted to find at the show. With limited time this cut down on the time spent looking for things. We went to the booths on the list and found the Treauses we sought. After 5,000 miles on the road in the last two months. I am glad to be back home. Watch for the next post with the names of the vendors we saw and the things I bought.

Where Did The Time Go?

Where did all that time go since my last post to the blog? Well, my Mom and I went on a road trip to Phoenix, AZ to visit with my brother and meet his Fiancé Jammie. I am so bad. I forgot to take a picture of them! Don't worry I took lots of pictures of the scenery and places we stopped along the way. I bought a Garmin (GPS) for our trip. Not only did it does it map out your route it also found attactions, food and lodging along the way. We stopped at Stein's Ghost town in New Mexico. Lucky for us Garmin found this attactration for us on our way to Phoenix. The Casa Grande Ruins (Click on the link to read about the ruins) From my brother's house Garmin led us to the Bead Musuem in Glendale where we met Judith and Crystal. We toured the museum and had lunch at a Tea Room a block away. That was a special treat seeing the bead exhibits and spending an afternoon with friends. Texas has the most beautiful wild flowers. I see this color combination in a future bead project.
