Like the Ancient Mayans she draws from her knowledge of the stitches to create with the elements of the Earth. Fire from goldstone, pearls from the sea and stones from far away lands she weaves with the color teal to create beauty. She is Queen Wanna Bead.

Queen Wanna Bead

I am up to my tiara in beads, crystals and clasps. My printer has been singing, tossing out page after page of instructions. I am getting ready for the Bead Cruise.

I can't see my beadroom floor or my beading table but in my mind's eye I can see white sandy beaches and feel the ocean breezes. I will have a chance to dress up with my tiara. There will be a cocktail party with prizes. I am going as Queen Wanna Bead. My dress will be a little different but than so is my Queen of Denial and the Queen of Paradise.
The countdown begins. 15 days and 20 hours! Did you know there is an app for that. It's called Ship Mate - Royal Caribbean. You can find it on iTunes or the app store on your apple devices.

The Queen of Denial

She has the whole world in her hands. No deadlines to meet. No kids to feed. No house to clean. Dinner at 6:00 not tonight. She is the Queen of Denial. She is sailing the high seas with her beads in hand.

She is one of my class projects for Bead Cruise 2009. We will have fun exploring surface embellishments on bead embroidery. The possibilities are limitless. The square face Art Bead is by Earthenwood Studios. I still have a few finishing touches to complete the necklace. I going to keep it simple susie by using a brass chain for the necklace. A special thanks to Denise for helping name this project.

Kits and Bits

I thought it was time to put my rivoli in a different kind of setting. My friend Audrey shared a picture of a bracelet she made using a pattern by Nikia Angel called the sparkly wheel. I have this pattern and put my rivoli in the middle. You can find the kit for a sparkly wheel at Buy the Kit.com. Kits are the perfect solution when you are not able to attend a class by your favorite designer. I bought this kit from Ann Benson at Beads East. It is called Raspberry Mousse. The directions are very well written and the kit is gorgeous. If you would like to try your hand at bead embroidery I would recommend one of these kits. This is a sneak peak of mine in progress. I am almost done. I am taking this baby on the high seas. It will be perfect to sport on Bead Cruise 2008 Support your favorite designer and buy a kit today!

What happened to your BJP for July?

Tomorrow is the last day of July? Four days have passed and it now the 4Th day of August. Two more days have passed and it is Aug 6Th. Where did the time go? Why haven't I started on my bead journal page yet? For this month that was July, every time I stepped outside I would see a dragonfly. One stopped and stared into my eyes. Another one landed on my shirt. For the next week and a half I was on a quest to find a bead I put somewhere. The bead was a fossil cabachon I bought at the last show the Gem & Mineral Society had before Katrina. The time I am trying to account for has been spent beading away on special projects. I finished Garden by the Sea, Triton's Daughter and crocheted two bracelet using Blue Healer beads I bought on Etsy. Made a Bumps in the Road bracelet and taught a class. Sally and I took a road trip to Turquoise Coyote. Our next stop was Meme's Beads and Things LLC in Slidell. 143 miles later we made it back home just before the afternoon showers. I have bezeled six rivoli's and now need to the join them together to create a Laura McCabe dodecahedron cube. Let's not forget that twisted herringbone bracelet. Where did the time go? Beading on other projects.
This is the start of my July Bead Journal Page. The dog days of summer are upon in New Orleans with the index reaching 105. No wonder I am moving slowing along. One bead, one stitch at a time.

Garden by the Sea

It's been a long time since I have felt the bead lust churning inside. Working feverishly this design has been growing in my mind. For Bead Cruise 2008 I wanted to create my class projects using Art Beads from our sponsors. These sponsors help to make our bead cruise a success with their generous donations for door prizes and gifts for those attending our adventures on the high seas. Below is a special edition cuff bead from Humblebeads. Show casing the bead as a focal point in the project was my challenage. The beadwork had to stand out and not take away from the beauty of the bead. The beadweaving techinques used had to enhance it. The end result: Garden by the Sea I wanted the clasp to be a part of the design. I am looking forward to teaching this as a class on Bead Cruise 2008. Open registration begins July 20th. . My To-list is long with a page being due for the Bead Journal Project, another project to complete and rivoli's I want to bead. One thing at a time. *Breath*
