Happy Fall

Anybody over with summer?  It's been super hot and humid with barely a breeze the last week and I'm looking forward to cooler weather!  So y'all know how much I'm in love with Lawn Fawn and had to get in the mood for cooler weather by entering Foxy Foxes Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.

Here's a closeup at some adorable die cutting!  I'm in love with the little die cuts Lawn Fawn has in their latest release.  The apples and leaves are just too cute and what do you think of that stitched die cut ground!  I used distress inks in scattered straw and mowed lawn  to create a fall-ish ground for that sweet fox!  Again practicing my copic coloring skills...practice makes perfect right.

The entire card...

Lawn Fawn Joy to the Woods, Lawn Fawn Sweater Weather, Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Borders,
Distress inks in Scattered Straw, Tumbled Glass and Mowed Lawn,
QuicKutz nesting scallop squares, Lawn Fawn Sweater Weather pattern paper,
Hero Arts shadow inks in Cup o Joe, Pale Tomato, Red Royal, Field Green and Pumpkin Pie

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend and I'll be back with more!

Mahalo for stopping by!!

Triangle Collage

Thank you all so much for your prayers while we have 2 hurricanes pass above and below our Hawaiian islands.  The news report says there are some damaged areas, but not as bad as we all had braced ourselves for.  I actually was placed on standby for work and decided to play a bit!

I ran across the Moxie Fab Fabulous Friday Challenge using this picture as an inspiration

Fun right?!  I was inspired by the clock, colors, white numbers and triangles.
Here's my card...

I had several ideas on how I was going to make all those colorful triangles, but quickly realized I didn't have a lot of shades of cardstock to get the look of the inspiration photo.  It took a bit of time, but the end result was fun.

Here's what I did:
1.  Taking white cardstock, I white heat embossed the clock and sentiment.
2.  Then cut up the paper into various triangles (tip: keep the pieces layed out together, trust me it saves a lot of time!)
3.  I inked up each triangle with a different Distress Ink, sometimes blending a few colors to get the right shade (sponge daubers are my friend!)
4.  I took a piece of white paper and ran a glue runner all over it and used it to adhere all my triangles.
5.  Then trim the edges to get a clean look and adhere to card front!

The stamp set is a Hero Arts one called Special Time compliments of Lynn's Craft Blog for Ben Franklin Crafts!  I received a bunch of goodies for guessing where her vacay pictures were taken.  Mahalo Lynn!!!

That's it for me...for now!  I hope to get some ideas together for the latest March submission call for Paper Crafts and Scrapbooking.  There were some fun categories.  Have you thought about submitting for publication?  Even if you don't get chosen I've found quite a few pros about the concept.  One being you have a bunch of cards ready for the upcoming holiday, you also have cards made in advance for future blog posts and it's just plain fun to create and try new styles/techniques.

Off I go!  Mahalo for stopping by!!

Play Time!

With the kids back to school, I'm hoping to get more play time for myself!  I've been seeing a lot of fun challenges and will be able to play with three of them today.  Did you see the latest Moxie Fab Challenge: Clicking Cameras?  I had the perfect stamp set from Lawn Fawn...y'all know how addicted I am.  Did you hear about the new release?!  To die for...but I digress.  On to my card....

There's A LOT of Lawn Fawn on this card from the background heart stamping to the pattern paper and right on down to the Lawn Trimming twine in coral!  The sweet enamel hearts are from Chickaniddy...sooo fun!  Just needed to prove to the hubby I USE my Lawn Fawn stuff so that I can get more...hehehe.

The design was inspired by the latest CASE(E) this Sketch that joined with the Tag You're It Challenge.

Thanks for stopping by!  And one more thing...asking for prayers for our Hawaiian Islands as we are having two hurricanes making a visit.  We're hoping it downgrades, but you know how unpredictable weather can be!

Much mahalo...and hope to be back real soon!

Birthday Balloons...a gender neutral card

I always seem to need a birthday card that's either reeeeally general or at least gender neutral.  You can't go wrong with balloons right?  I recently purchased this awesome Echo Park paper pad "For the Record 2" (on sale over at Butterfly Reflections Ink) and it had some awesome blues, teals and yellows...talk about fabulous color combo!

Here it is...

Aveyr Elle Simply Said Happy Die, Avery Elle Storybook, Avery Elle Handwritten Notes,
Echo Park For the Record 2 paper pad, copics, glossy accents, Memento ink in Tuxedo Black

I'm loving that Avery Elle word die!  I was a little worried about how thin and tall it was, but it really is just a fun font! I die cut the word again in black to give a bit of shadow because the blue pattern paper didn't pop as much as I wanted it too against the yellow background.  I added glossy accents for fun to the balloons to enter in the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Let's Be Clear

I was inspired by the recent CAS(E) this Sketch following this...

and since I used a word die will also enter the Moxie Fab World Challenge : Wonderful Words Challenge

Until next time...mahalo for stopping by!

The Evolution of my Card...

Oh boy did I make a mess of my craft desk!  It all started with needing a thank you card to give a coworker and I was trying to go for a more masculine feel.  Thus began the plaid look...also keeping in mind I wanted to enter the next Lawnscaping Challenge: Stars and Stripes.

This is where my journey began...painstackingly inking up that fun border to create a stripey/plaid background.  Now what?!  You can tell it wasn't perfectly stamped so I knew I needed to add something to draw your attention away from that fact.  I knew I wanted to use the die cut scripty thanks, but it needed more...

Here's the mess I created figuring things out...

Again keeping in mind I needed stars, I wanted to use the Lawn Fawn Life is Good starfish!

The die cut comes out so cute!  I first tried cutting a strip of paper to pop the die cut thanks, but it just wasn't enough.  Finally I realized I could add a journaling card and also enter the next Moxie Fab: Photo Pocket Page Challenge: Journaling Cards!  (challenges are so great that way) So the lightbulb went on and I focused on making a journaling card.

And the finished product...

Lawn Fawn Stitched Journaling Card, Lawn Fawn Scripty Thanks, Lawn Fawn Life is Good
Lawn Fawn pattern paper, Hero Arts Shadow Ink in Cup O' Joe and Soft Sand

Ok so I ended up nixing the plaid stamped background, because it just didn't work with my journaling card!  I'll definitely save it for later though.  I couldn't decide which yellow background paper to use so....why not both!?  It killed me not to put a little smiley face on the sun and some sparkle or some sequins, but since it's for a guy I figured best to leave it alone.

Okey dokey...that's it for me!  Mahalo for stopping by!!

Ombre Sunshine

Happy Aloha Friday!  Making it short and sweet today with this card inspired by several challenges...

Avery Elle Fill in the Blank, Tim Holtz Rays Stencil, Distress Inks Faded Jeans, Salty Ocean and Tumbled Glass,
Memento inks in Tuxedo Black, Dandelion and Canteloupe and Hero Arts inks in Butter Bar and Orange Soda, Lawn Trimmings

Inspired by CAS(E) this Sketch

and the next Moxie Fab Challenge: Styling With Stencils.  I used the Tim Holtz Rays Stencil and a bunch of yellow inks to create the ombre look to enter the AEIHeartUChallenge

I've also created the ombre blue background using Distress Inks and water color paper.  Lastly because I used a button for the "O" I'll also enter the next Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes With Buttons.

Phew...that's it for me!  Have a great weekend!!!

Stampin' for Moxie Fab World Challenge: Constellations

YES the week is almost over!  I just LOVE my weekends...especially if I'm not oncall.  This weekend is going to be filled with fun times from the hubby's birthday to SUPER BOWL....gooooo Broncos!

On to my card for the latest Moxie Fab World Challenge: Constellations

I got out the ol' Martha Stewart border punch to make a strip for the sentiment that was heat embossed in silver.  The background was simply made with an embossing foler and stamped with some Lawn Fawn stars.

Here's another card with a cute Kitty Bee Designs image

This is one of the cards that's up at all the Ben Franklin's on Oahu.  Thought it was simple enough to make multiples of and one of my favorite go-to card design/layout.

That's it for me!  Mahalo for stopping by!!

Moxie Fab Mahalo to Cath Edvalson

Aloha and welcome to this fabulous gathering of crafters that adore and admire the Moxie Fab Cath Edvalson!  This blog hop is epic, and I hope Cath FEELS the love we send from whatever part of the world we live in!

If you're going in order you should have arrived from Alyssa Scritchfield's blog.

Where to even begin?  I had been stalking the Moxie Fab posts for about a year and finally got the courage to enter one of the Tuesday Triggers to celebrate Cath's mom's birthday.  Before then I was completely intimidated by the entries.  When I heard her mom was vacationing in Hawaii, I knew I had to make a Hawaiian card for her mom!  Do you guys remember that?  If interested you could check out my card HERE.

I have never had the honor of meeting her in person, but with her daily posts of inspiration and weekly challenges in the Moxie Fab World over at Paper Crafts Connection Blog I feel like she's just a phone call away.  Her challenges pushed my creative side to new heights and her keen eye for spotting trends is a talent no one will ever come close to.

So how do you make the perfect thank you card for the perfect blog hop?!?  Well I put a lot of pressure on myself and then it just came down to going simple.  Who wouldn't smile at a rainbow and butterfly?!

I cannot thank Cath enough for her many years of inspirational bliss.  I'm surely going to miss it and can't wait to see and hear about her future endeavors!

To continue on, check out the AMAZING list of well wishers...I'm #155 if you're going in order.  Just click on the links below and you'll see more creations just for our Moxie Fab Cath!  Mahalo for hopping by!!!

I {heart} Fall!

The weather around here is finally cooling off and I am so ready for fall!  The hubby already started baking things with pumpkin and I'm loving it! Tonight's dessert was pumpkin snickerdoodles...talk about yummy!  The recipe can be found over at Pretty Pink Posh.  I would have gotten a picture, only we ate it too quickly ;)

I loved the Tuesday Trigger over at Moxie Fab World following this pic...

Gorgeous isn't it?!?  Here's my card...

Hero Arts Made With Love, Doodlebug Happy Harvest Pattern Paper, Distress Glitter in Festive Berries and Spiced Marmalade, Memento Rich Cocoa ink, twine

I'm having way too much fun with distress glitter and want to use it on everything!  I also wanted to give the banner a little somethin' and decided to do a garland of leaves.  I followed this sketch over at Seize the Sketch

That's it for me.  Mahalo for stopping by!

Lovin' 3D Foam Hearts

Happy Wednesday!  This is probably my most favorite day of the week since I get the day off.  Anywho I was fortunate enough to win some goodies from Laura Williams and was eager to play with them.  One of the many items in the fabulous box was 3D Foam Hearts, and I immediately knew what I wanted to do with them.  Lately I've been crazy over my recent purchase of Distress Glitter and came up with this.

3D Foam Heart by Scrapbook Adhesives, Tim Holtz Distress Glitters, Lawn Fawn Quinn's Capital ABCs, LF silver sparkle cord, black CS and Recollections Elegance pattern paper

I had so much fun with this card and will enter this in the Moxie Fab Stickers and Tape ChallengeThe foam tape counts right?  Also will enter this in the next Pinspired Challenge following this photo

I loooooove anything rainbow so I had to enter!  I was playing with all the different sizes of 3D foam hearts and because I didn't want to waste them I decided to put them on a tag.

I'll sneak this into my daughter's lunch bag one day and think she'll want to use it as a bookmark!

That's it for me!  Hope your week is going well and don't forget about the giveaway.  Click HERE for details at the bottom of the post!

Sweet Monday

Another weekend has come and gone in the blink of an eye!  It's been SUPER humid and hot (I know, I know it's Hawaii) but I'm sooooo ready for cooler weather.  I've been craving strawberry lemonade or Freckled Lemonade as it's called at Red Robins (one of my go-to restaurants when traveling).  Makes me really wish we had one here in Hawaii!  My craving turned into an inspiration for my card...

Lawn Fawn Pink Lemonade pattern paper, LF Admit One, Basic Grey Hipster wood die cuts, Memento inks in New Sprout, Dandelion and London Fog

I had Moxie Fab World: The Metal, Wood and Cork Challenge in mind when I put this card together. I inked them up and layered them for a bit of dimension.  And since this is all with lovely Lawn Fawn pattern paper I will also enter this in the next Lawnscaping Challenge: Pattern Paper Craze

I cut out the jar from pattern paper and stamped it with "You're" from the Admit One set and tied a little twine, then carefully cut out a pair of strawberries as an embellishment.  Here's a closeup...

Sorry the color is a little off...that's what I get for taking pics at 11pm, but it really is "refreshing" in real life...hehehe...makes me thirsty for my Freckled Lemonade!

Hope everyone has a great week and don't forget I'm having a little giveaway!  Leave a comment to enter a Kitty Bee Design Stamp and 6x6 paper pad.  I'll be choosing 4 winners at the end of the week.  I would love it if you're a follower of my blog as well!  See HERE for details at the bottom of the post!  MAHALO!!!

Today's Special

Whoa!  Where did my weekend go?  Besides getting over my cold and being oncall for work, my in-laws were in town.  It was a quick layover for a few days before my brother-in-law heads up to Pennsylvania for his dissertation.  We are so proud to soon have a doctor in the family!

I even missed WCMD!  What I did not miss though was everyone's posts and all their creations.  So fun!!!

The next Curtain Call theme is a spooky scene so I wanted to share this fun card!

Lawn Fawn Good Fortune, LF Claire's ABCs, Copic Markers, googly eyes

I went for the chalkboard look to display my special for the day...hehehe.

Just a quick post for me!  Mahalo for stopping by!

**Edited to add this card to General Craft Supply Challenge in the Moxie Fab World
Mahalo Virginia for the heads up!

A Crafty Day

What a great day it's been!  The hubby has been taking care of the kiddos while I've been (*wink, wink) trying to clean up the craft room.  Nothing like cleaning up when an inspiration image comes to mind and (*sigh) the cleaning must stop...hahaha!

I've been wanting to try Distress Paint for a while and finally broke down buying 1 bottle in Picket Fence.  What was I going to do with it you ask?  I had no idea, up until now!  I was inspired by the rainbow of colors in the next Pinspired Challenge and thought I'd also enter Moxie Fab World: Color Media Challenge.  I'm hoping Distress Paint counts as a type of media?!

Fresh Squeezed Stamps Weather Through, Fresh Squeezed Stamps Subway Series: Basic, Distress Paint in Picket Fence, Memento inks in Lady Bug, Tangelo, Cantaloupe, Dandelion, Bamboo Leaves, Bahama Blue, Danube Blue and Lilac Posies, Washi Tape, Martha Stewart butterfly punch, Hero Arts paper flower, Doodlebug Sprinkles in bubblegum, white embossing powder, Kraft cardstock, Kraft Core Shattered Collection in black

I LOVE the effect!  The down side...waiting for the paint to dry!  I loved the layered effect of stamping on the paint, then the rainbow rays and then the subway stamp...totally fun...and why not throw a bit of washi in there too!

Here's the Pinspiration...

I really should be packing...

I couldn't help but fit in a little more crafting before it's packed up!  It takes approximately 14 hours to get from here to Minneapolis and anxious to get in a few challenges!

I made this card with my parents in mind.  They'll be celebrating their 40th Anniversary!  I used 3 challenges to spark my mojo.  Moxie Fab World:  All that Glitters is Gold, using a sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch and colors by Runway Inspired Challenge

These are some hand colored embellies that started off white.   The top pic is a pearlized white butterfly stick pin (removed the pin) and colored with copic and embellished with bling! The second pic is a prima flower dipped in Danube Blue ink and Delicata Golden Glitz ink.

And the card...

Stamps of Life Swirls2Build, Hero Arts CL342 (sentiment), gold rhinestones, Memento Ink in Danube Blue, Delicata Golden Glitz ink, clear embossing powder

Kept it pretty simple with a gold card based and vellum overlay with some navy blue and gold sheer ribbon.
The sketch and inspiration photo...

All right now I reeeeeeally have to go pack.  Mahalo for stopping by!  I'll definitely be sharing some pics of Scrapfest so stay tuned!

Peaceful Thanksgiving

Is it only Wednesday?  It's been one of those weeks where work has been draining...booooo!  So when I get in this funk I have to force myself to think of the brighter side.  #1 I'm definitely grateful to have a job and #2 I couldn't see myself doing anything else...well...I could see myself crafting all day, but that wouldn't pay the bills...hehehe.

Anyway I wanted to enter the next Pinspired Challenge.  Here's my card...

Avery Elle Oh Happy Day, Memento Inks in Bahama Blue, Tangelo, Teal Zeal, Rosebud, Pear Tart and Tuxedo Black, Studio Calico wood veneer birds, ribbon, Crate Paper On Trend, Copic marker

This card was initially sent in for publication, but didn't make the cut so now I can share it with blogland!

I thought the birds, colors and foliage were pretty similar to the inspiration photo.  The actual design was inspired by a shirt my daughter wore one day that had all these elements in a peace sign.  Hope you like it.  I had fun stamping it out!

P.S. I'm also thinking of entering this in the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger: I'm Craving Navy as it does have some navy elements and white with linear lines like the photo below

As always MAHALO for stopping by!

More to Love!
