Allietare is ready to quilt

I had a couple of hours off work this morning and used it to put those borders onto Allietare. I declare this one a finished top and I can't tell you how good it feels!  Yay!!

My plan is to find a backing tomorrow and my local quilt shop and leave it to be quilted. I had forced myself to finish this and not work on anything else until it was done. So now I can get caught up on Farm Girl Vintage and the Temecula Circa 2016 blocks during the next week.

And I need to choose another UFO to tackle now that this one is ready to quilt. And the big question in my mind is which one is calling the loudest.

Allietare - ready for borders

After trimming the cream points off the setting triangle units, I can finally add the 2 borders to this quilt. There is a narrow gold one and then a 5" black border.  Maybe the black border will push this quilt away from the Christmas-y look it has by pulling the eye to the black in the blocks instead of the green.

Probably no sewing today as I have to work this morning and then take my grandson to his last golf lesson this afternoon. Maybe I can get those border strips added Friday afternoon when I get some time off again. I will be so glad to have this one done - too many (over 2000) small pieces and not happy with my color choices.  Maybe I'll love it more after it's quilted and bound.

Design Wall Monday - Allietare is halfway

Easter Sunday was spent sewing and relaxing since we didn't have any plans. I made some progress on my Allietare mystery quilt and it is half done. Not counting the borders, and maybe I'll decide against borders. Who knows at this point. This will be a big quilt with a ZILLION little pieces so I'm taking my time on it. The units for all of the rest of the blocks are ready to go, so maybe it won't take so long to get the rest of the blocks made and assembled.

Sunday stash report

I've actually USED a lot of fabric this week, but none of it will give me a finish that I can count - yet. The top for the Cottage in the Woods is done, backing is pieced, binding is made, and I've made a few more blocks for Allietare. But no finishes.

As the photo shows, Allietare is coming along slowly. I'm wishing I had stuck with Bonnie Hunter's choice of grey where my green is, or that I had picked a nice clean blue. The green is OK but I think blue would have been even better. Oh well . . .

I do have a big quilt being quilted so hopefully I'll have another finish to count fairly soon. I'm hoping that I have something in my stash that is suitable for binding it. Guess I need to do some digging later today.

In this week: 3 yds
In this year: 5 yds
Out this week: 0 yds
Out this year: 11.5 yds

I'm still happy to be ahead of my stash.

Just a little progress on clue 2

I'm trying to do the Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt called Allietare. A new clue will be posted every Friday until we are done, but I'm realistic enough to know that I'll not be keeping up with every clue. But I'm going to do my best. Find her mystery quilt info here, including the fabric requirements and first 2 clues. http://quiltville.blogspot.com/p/allietare-mystery.html

I did get clue 1 done last week (295 HST) and clue 2 has been started. This week we are making 20 sets of 4 little sections (4.5" square). I have 5 sets of 4 made. The pieces are all cut and ready to sew for the other 15 sets.  And I have the additional 2" squares cut for clue 2 out of black and the green. The only color we haven't touched yet is the gold.

I'm linking up to Freemotion By the River's Linky Tuesday. Go check out what other quilters are working on today.
