A Feminine Torso

Here's a project I made in a class years ago.  I loved the class.  We took a paper mache torso and sliced it in half.  We painted it a base color and then over painted with a crackle paint.  The many embellishments consisted of buttons, lace trim, ribbon up the back cris-crossed like a corset and a beautiful silk hydrangea as the "bustle".  Inside there are some dangling doodads (faces, keys, bottle caps) from rusty wire.  I just love it because it's delicate and feminine on the outside yet a little tattered and grungy on the inside.

A Door Hanging A Day - Day Four

Here's a sweet litle patchwork heart door hanging. There's a tiny flower and some seed beads sewn on.

A Door Hanging A Day - Day Three

This gorgeous door hanging was created by my sweet and talented friend, Kitty. She sent it to me a few years ago and I just love it!
She used a vintage glove - a nice long one with pretty embroidered flowers at the top. She stuffed it and I think she added a bit of lavendar because it smells sweet. She added one of my favorite items, a dangling watch from a length of lace. A string of pearls, lace and a delicate ribbon complete this beautifully feminine piece. Thank you, Kitty!

Inspired by Kitty's creation I picked up a few vintage gloves at a recent Estate Sale.  I added an image transfer of a little girl to the front and covered the raw edges with lace trim.  I also added a vintage flower in the corner, some vintage lace, trim pearls and a silk ribbon tied in a bow for the hanger.  I filled it with fiber fill and sewed it all up.

A Door Hanging A Day - Day One

I just love door hangings. I will post some of my favorites. Here's the first, a vintage-looking postcard of the Eiffel Tower. I love the soft colors and the silk ribbon.
