Tables, Tables, Tables...

Where did the week go, let alone the Summer?
I have been painting like a fiend this week to make room for another custom piece I have coming in the next few days.

We were able to complete four tables, not bad for a five day week.  Once again I do not have before pictures of most of this work, I promise to slow down & do better on this.  I just get so excited to get started.  Here is the first table:

Available at Sassy Fabrics in Grand Blanc,  MI
My husband picked this coffee table up at a yard sale while he was working in Kentucky about a month ago.  It sat in our garage waiting for inspiration most of the Summer.  Finally he decided to paint it himself.  The body is painted black & the top is painted Pure white.  He has been talking about this "Subway" art style for at least 6 months, now was his opportunity to try it.  We found these basic card stock paper stencils at our local hardware store & they worked perfectly.  Then we added the Fleur de lis on both sides in Paris Grey.

Here's a better picture of the top.

This would be perfect for the college apartment, don't you think?

The next set of end tables were in rough shape when I got them.  They had been left out in the rain & the tops had completely bowed & popped off the bases.  Luckily I had a couple of old table leafs that were the perfect width for replacements, so with the help of a friend, we cut one in half & screwed them on.

I painted them Graphite & once again used my favorite stencil on the tops, sides & drawer fronts. These pictures just don't do them justice.

Loving this stencil...

I sold these to a friend before the wax was even dry.  Love it when that happens :)

The last table I actually have the before picture.

Okay, I had already started sanding this piece but I did remember to take the picture before I painted it.

I'm using a new chalk paint called "La Ferme Millesime" or "The Vintage Farmhouse".  It's made in Texas & goes on like butter.  I love it so much that now I am a retailer for this chalk paint.

Here it is in my booth.  I love that they are packaged in the mason jars.  It really lets you see what the color looks like.

Back to the table,  I chose the color "Carriage House"

Available at Sassy Fabrics in Grand Blanc, MI

Then I put a Medallion stencil on the top in Pure White.

Just dresses it up.

So Shabbilicious .......

So that is the tale of the Tables.  I will be sharing a tall tale about a unique table I found on the side of the road very soon.

Here's a peek :) Stay tuned, this one will knock your socks off..

Check us out on Facebook to see what we've been up to.

Medallion Table

It's been a whirlwind of a month. Since my Dad's passing I have asked my Mom to be my partner & help me with my furniture painting business. She happily accepted. We have been busy all month trying to get the projects I had in my garage completed to make room for some custom work I have coming up. It seems as fast as I can get the pieces painted & delivered Karen & Denise at Sassy Fabrics (V Trading) in Grand Blanc, sell them. Great job girls!! Keep up the good work!!

Anyway, I picked up a pedestal table from CL with two chairs I posted about a few weeks ago Here.  My husband had plans for the chairs, so I knew I would need to find other chairs to go with this table. Here is what I did to the table:

I've been on the hunt for a round table so I could use this very cool medallion stencil on it. I had it left over from my Faux finish days. Here is the only before picture I have of the table:

I painted the base DIY Paris Grey chalk paint, & the top is Old White with a band of Graphite on the edge.  Then I did the stencil in Graphite, sanded, distressed & a couple of coats of clear wax.

Now I needed some chairs....  I went up to Collette's Antique mall (where I have a booth), they have a Flea Market on the weekends.  I was able to score Six solid wood chairs!!!  Two of them are captains chairs.  I couldn't believe my luck.  I knew exactly what I wanted to do with them. Here is a before of the captains chairs, for some reason I don't have one of the four other chairs. They look just like these only without arms:

I painted the captains chairs Paris grey to match the table base & the other four I painted black to match the medallion on the table top.

Here is one of the captains chairs with the drop cloth cushion. I added a cute graphic to it from The Graphics Fairy.  The four chairs all have a different graphic, then the captains chairs have the same cool Paris crown.  I like the way they coordinate with the table.

Here's a good look at the medallion on the table top:

Table still available at Sassy Fabrics (V Trading) in Grand Blanc, MI

Sigh..............So very french.....

Well, Karen just did it again!  Sold all six chairs.  Now I have a table without chairs again. Guess I better get used to this.  Nice problem to have right?

Hope you all have a great week & thanks for visiting,  Dee

Repurposed sign

This was a Roadside Treasure

I'm sorry I don't have a before picture.  This was a twin bed, the footboard end.  Me & the hubby broke apart  disassembled the side posts & stacked the top, bottom & support piece from the headboard, then screwed them all together.  I love the shape of it.

Once I had this all secure I gave it two coats of ASCP in Graphite.  Then I found this great graphic from graphicfairy.com.  This was a bit of a challenge to transfer the image on black.  After several attempts I found that white chalk worked the best to transfer the graphic.  Then I painted it in by hand, added some cute stenciling, waxed & buffed.

I have the headboard end painted & ready to go.

Now all I need is the perfect graphic.  I'll keep you posted on what I do with this.  Have a great day!  Dee
