Cascading Lace...

Hi All
I decided to bring you a card this time over on the Tattered Lace Blog ...a cascade card...but I wanted a background too, so here's how I made it....
(This post is a bit photo heavy, but I think it's easier to follow with pictures :) )

To make the cascade card you will need two pieces of 5 1/2 x 12" white card stock.
On each piece, measure and mark the short side at 2 1/2" from the bottom.

Cut across from 5 1/2"  to 2 1/2" on both pieces so you get a wedge shape.

On each piece score at 2" 4" 8" and 10" .

Next you need to measure and mark the longer side at 2 3/4" ...and the shorter side at 1 1/4".

With a long ruler, line up the two edging marks and then at the point the ruler crosses the score lines - make a mark.  You also need to make a mark at the 6" point...but do not score or fold at 6".

The slope of the wedge is the top of your card.
Take one piece. From the bottom, cut UP to the little marks that you made at 2", 6" and 10" intervals.

On the other piece, cut DOWN to the marks at 2, 6 & 10".

Fold on all the score lines...but remember...DON'T fold at 6".

I have used the Scalloped Heart Border die to edge the top of the cascading part.

Now we can put it together.
Starting with the two longer ended pieces, interlock the cuts, so they slot together at 2, 6 & 10".

Fold it - so it 'cascades' as in the picture.

You are then ready to decorate!

I used some of the gorgeous papers from Stephanie's 'Sugar Rush' Collection to make panels for the cascade card and to cover the 7 x 7" base card.
The papers were embossed before cutting, using the Tattered Lace - Script - Embossing folder.
All the panels were edged with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink, before adhering to the card.
I also put a 'smidging' on the decorative border edge.

The beautiful Majestic Daisy, was cut twice in green mirror card, and twice in pink.
The Just for You washing line die was cut once in green mirror card and once in plain white card stock.
The small butterfly from the Build a Butterfly set was cut twice in pink mirror card and once in green. The large butterfly was cut once each in pink and green...and the body - once in green.

Putting together!
The Daisy's were cut from the pink die cut and adhered over the green.
The large pink butterfly was adhered to the body, then the large green and small pink layered on top.
The small green layered onto the small pink butterfly...and the Just for You green wording shadowed over the white.
These were all then adhered into place, with the Just for You being strung across the front, through a couple of holes from the border design at each side.

The cascade card was adhered to the base card, and to finish it off, I added some pearls and a little bow .

Here Come the Girls......

Hello!!! I'm back... with the girls on the catwalk of the Tattered Lace blog this time!
There is so much you can do with these dies...I'm loving them!

For this project I used an mdf base, well...it's actually a box top which will hold 'hair bands and bobs'...but you can make something similar as a card very easily.

Take the project base of your choice and coat it with a layer of Gel medium or PVA & water mix. Cover with a piece of dressmaking pattern paper and add another coat of gel medium.
Die cut 4 x Kensington Corners...adhere those to each corner.
Randomly spritz with paint/glimmer mist or similar. Dry off with heat gun.
Arrange different sized and coloured buttons in a couple of corners and adhere with hot glue.
Take a length of lace and make a bow with the small Bow Maker (absolute must have item!!! ;) )
Adhere to a big button in the corner. Make another bow with narrower lace and ensure you leave long enough tails to trail over the base.
Layer the two bows and add another button to the top. Glue down the bow tails.
Die cut the clock - Counting the Moments - then ink the hands and a few hearts in a contrast colour...adhere the clock and glue on the coloured pieces.
Die cut 6 of the girls and double layer them. Cut out dresses...again, doubling them up for a bit of strength and dimension.
Cut out their shoes and hair...adhere the girls to the base and decorate them.
Die cut some of the words from Fashion Sentiments in two colours to shadow them and add those.
Randomly dry brush some metallic paint to finish off your project x

Have fun!!

Gorgeous New Bella ~ Easel Box....

Hi All
Today I'm sharing some fabulous new Tattered Lace goodies... including dies, an embossing folder set and loads of awesome embellishments! :)
I have made a drawer based easel card from some plain white card stock. Cut some panels for the sides and top from designer paper, then embossed them with the lovely new 'Script' embossing folder. These have then been edged with distress ink. I attached a length of the gorgeous new ribbon across the top of the drawer base before adhering the easel card.
I put together a 'stop' panel (the bit that stops the easel part of the card from falling down flat) and made a double looped bow and stuck it on. To which I added a couple of flat backed pearls and one of the beautiful new resin flowers... I also added one to the front of the drawer.
The new Bella's Body was cut from vanilla card stock, and also edged with distress ink. Bella has some wonderful new clothes and accessories available, of which I used Bella's Short Dress and one of Bella's Hair dies. I've cut one each of the short dresses and layered them....then cut a further 8 of the lacy short dress and made them into a double tiered long skirt back for her. I cut her a matching pair of shoes and gave her a lovely long hairstyle.

With a couple of Rose Corners, cut and distress inked for the easel top, and a parasol for Bella, all she needed were the words...Bella......Gorgeous New Chic Lady in contrasting brown cardstock to finish it all off. The easel card can be folded down and tied with the ribbon x

I 'Love' This Die!!!

Hi Everyone  :)
I'm back with another project that's on the Tattered Lace Blog, using the fabulous Monumental Moments - Love die.
Whilst this die enables you to make some stunning cards - equally it lends itself to the class of home decor.
Today I am sharing with you a stand up piece that is sturdy & simple to make x
-------
You will need to cut 8 'Love' words in a sturdy card-stock...I've used 300gsm. Glue and layer each die cut...remembering to trim the tab top of the 'O' into an oval on each layer as you go.

Coat the entire piece with Gesso, including all the edges, and leave to dry.

Whilst that is drying cover a plain mdf plaque with some designer paper, then run Walnut Stain Distress Ink around the edges.

Take the Love wording and spritz it with some watered down acrylic paint.

I have then used a crackle stamp & some gilding flake to decorate both the wording and the base, and run Distress ink in both Walnut Stain and Worn Lipstick around the edge.

Stamp a verse/sentiment of your choice onto the base and then, with a hot glue gun, adhere the wording to the mdf base, holding it steady while the glue sets.

Cut 2 butterflies in matching papers, ink and gild random areas and adhere to the 'O' ...cut a few sets of the Floral Flourish & Lacy Rose dies...ink and adhere those also.
That's it...you're done!! :)

Tattered Lace - With LOVE...

Hi Everyone :)

This is the first project that I've made for the fabulous Tattered Lace inspiration blog...and I am honoured to be part of it.
As we are heading towards Valentine's Day, I thought I'd share this lovely heart wreath with you today.

The heart wreath is approx 20cm x 20cm. I picked this one up from a garden centre, and as it was a natural woody colour, I painted a layer of white Gesso over it.
I cut the LOVE die in both white card and pale lavender mirri card...and a few of the Floral Flourish & Lacy Rose in green and pale pink mirri card.
To the white LOVE die cut I randomly brushed on Seedless Preserve Distress ink, then added a few hand-painted flowers. Whilst these dried, I added some of the same distress ink to the white heart wreath.
I then adhered the white LOVE word over the mirri one in a shadow effect, and hot glued it to the wreath, adding the Floral Flourish & Lacy Rose's.  To finish it off, I cut and added the word 'with' ...also from the LOVE set.
These would be gorgeous in wedding theme colours to present to the bride on her wedding day too!

Purple Weddings!!

My poor old blog has been a bit neglected of late as we move into the realms of  the social sites of Facebook/Twitter etc...but as it was a NYR of mine to put more on here...I'd better do just that! :)

I thought I'd share a few wedding cards, a candle & a keepsake box with you...no reaching for the chocolate though...I know you're tempted with all that gorgeous purple!!  :D

A keepsake box (the mdf box was made by my wonderful other half)... to keep all those special Wedding Day treasures in....

August has arrived and summer is well and truly here!! Yayyy!! :)  I can't remember the last time we managed to string so many lovely summery days together! Anyway...here is my DT project for this months challenge at Tattered Lace...our theme is 'Decadence' ...

A tough challenge this one as it entailed me having to go into the very yummy cake shop in the next village!! I had will power...however I also had three other passengers in my car!!! O.o

Matted a pearlised pink layer, then a TL Rose Garden embossed pearlised Cream layer...
Cut 4 Chantilly Hearts - shaped and glued
Cut 1 plain and 2 lacy roses per flower (5 needed altogether)

A Touch of Elegance.........

Good morning all :)
Wow!! It's July!!! Which means that we're half way through 2014!  What happened to the first 6 months?? They've whizzed by!  In another 6 months Christmas will be over and we'll be starting a New Year!!! Eeeek!!!
Moving swiftly on Lol .............................. ;)

Thank you to everyone who took part in the June challenge at Tattered Lace...it was great to see so many fab creations for the Guys.

Our theme for July is....Elegance.... an easy one as far as Tattered Lace dies are concerned! The hardest part is choosing which dies to use!! :)
Soooo...after a few cups of coffee and several stages of whittling down...I chose ....

Dies used:
Over the Edge Baroque....
Corset...
Doily Corner dies...
The 'belly band' was made with
Beloved Borders
Chantilly Bow (small)
AND
One of the brand new Tattered Lace embossing Folders - Rose Garden

The background was embossed with one of the gorgeous BRAND NEW Tattered Lace embossing folders... I used vellum to make it more delicate looking...then edged with Pan Pastels for that elegant pink touch...as have the Doily corners.
Inside this criss cross card I have cut two of the Corsets, gathered Tulle and sandwiched it between the layers. To finish it off I've added two of the beautiful diamante flowers from Tattered Lace and also a few single Diamante.

I hope you'll come and join us for the Tattered Lace challenge this month...you'll find it hard to make something other than elegant with these stunning dies!!  :)

Here we are..a new month...and a brand new challenge at Tattered Lace! Something a bit different this time...it's One for the Guys ...and it's surprising just how many of those elegant, delicate dies can turn macho!!! ;)

I have made a wall hanging for Rob's shed from a scrap of MDF, which Rob kindly cut and routered for me. It's been painted and crackled and then I've added Tattered Lace elements.

Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with this month...so have fun with it and ...
