"On October 4th, four teenagers, armed with knives, broke into a home in a small town in New Hampshire. Alone and sleeping inside were a mother and her 11 year old daughter. These 4 boys broke into this home with the intent to rob and kill anyone inside. They stabbed the mom, Kimberly Cates, to death and left her daughter, Jaimie, for dead in their driveway. It was a completely random act, their home was chosen only due to its secluded surroundings." Denise and Erin - the girls behind the Stamp Something challenges, have organised this very special blog hop in hope that we can all give a little bit of hope and love to a very special and brave little girl. When Denise posted on 'Mo's Digital Pencil Too' group on SNR, the story just tugged at me and I knew I just had to take part! The injuries that Jaimie sustained that day were horrific...both physically and mentally, and to lose her Mum too! It must be so awful to lose a parent through illness or accident, but this was just such a senseless waste of life, and a living nightmare for Jaimie. I feel priviledged to have my parents in my life for as long as I have, I can only imagine the heartache for Jaimie and her family. If this story tugs at you too, all the details to make and send a card for Jaimie are at the Stamp Something For Jaimie blog. Jaimie's favourite colours are Hot Pink and black...but she's not a girly girl...so I thought that this was just the thing for her! If you hopped here from Sharon's blogthen you're on the right path and you can hop along to Cindy's blog now ... but if you've just joined us here and missed the rest...do one large 'jump' back to Katharina, from Whiff of Joy's blog, to start at the beginning ... and I'll see you again soon!!
