Time to Ride

I've gone a little crazy for Beccy's Place images this past week (I think I've made 3 cards so far) but she has so many delightful (and fun) images for all kinds of occasions (or even non-occasions!)  Here's another card I made using some of her Halloween cuties.  The witch is named Agatha and I reversed her before printing.  The cat is Hemlock and I hate to say that I can't find either of them in the store any more.  It's possible they have been retired, which makes me very glad that I grabbed them before they disappeared.  :-D

I merged the images, then printed them onto plain, white CS, cut them with a Tonic Studios die, and inked the edges with an ink pad.  I printed the sentiment, cut it with an Avery Elle die, inked those edges, and layered it onto the image piece.  The background was made with paper scraps from an old DCWV Halloween stack.  Although they don't show up well in the photo, the bats on the dp in the upper corner are shiny and gold metallic.

Halloween Night

I'm doing my best to get back into playing particular challenges which have always been favorites of mine and which have a 'progressive' element to them.  Near the top of that list is Beccy's Place which isn't a true progressive challenge but we are required to use an image from Beccy's and she provides a freebie each month.  You aren't required to use the freebie - you can use any of her images and my collection of them is rather large.

For this month, I used four of Beccy's silhouette images put onto a background dp (also from Beccy's Place) and I added a sentiment of my own.  I sized the paper to 5.5" x 5.5", then copied and pasted the silhouette images (Agatha, the tall witch, was reversed.)  The silhouettes are jpg files, so when they were merged onto the dp, there was that white background behind each silhouette.  The white rectangles made the silhouettes and the sentiment pop off the background.

I printed the entire thing onto white CS.  I used a "Satin" ProMarker to color the white rectangles so they wouldn't look quite so 'bright white.'  Kind of visually interesting for a single layer card, don't you think?

Totally Batty

I have been digging through the box of Halloween crafting supplies and found several items which I had completely forgotten or which I simply haven't used in ages.  I found these three, old, foam stamps (Does anyone remember those?  Cheap and usually in the discount bin.  :-D) with different bats. Perfect for Halloween.  The sticker tags which used to be on top have long ago disappeared so I have no idea what company made the stamps but I'd dare bet they were "Made in China."  lol

I found an Onyx ink pad which also hasn't been used in several years but which still had enough ink to stamp the three bats onto lavender CS.  Before I cut them, I typed a sentiment, moved it into place so that it would print below the bats, then ran the CS through my printer.  I cut the image with a QuicKutz square die.

I colored the eyes with gel pens and added tiny, white, Vampire teeth to one of the bats.  I used two scraps of orange CS and mounted everything onto a black card base.  The sheer & satin, black ribbon came from Really Reasonable Ribbon and I tied a double loop bow using my bow maker.

Apple Snacks

It's time to start another challenge at QKR Stampede and the theme is always Anything Goes.

I was having a text conversation with a young teenager shortly before I started making this card and we were talking about the kinds of things people could accomplish in just 5 minutes.  Half way down her list, she said she could eat an apple in 5 minutes.  That triggered the sentiment on this card. lol

Both images are from our sister company, Eureka Stamps, and they are called "Apple" and "Apple Core" of course.  :-D  Most of the images from either QKR or Eureka are available in both rubber and digital, whichever your preference.  They are also amazingly priced without any need for sales.  Typically, digis run about $2 and rubber comes in at $3 to $3.50.

I printed the images together, but used a die from Cottage Cutz to cut them into rounded, stitched squares.  The sentiment was cut with an Avery Elle die.  I used ProMarkers to color the stems, leaves, and apple flesh on the core image.  The chevron dp was a scrap from the basket and I'm sure it originally came from a Recollections stack.  I know this is pretty CAS but once I had the images laid out on top of the scrap dp and put the sentiment on top of that, it just looked 'finished' so I adhered everything and left it without embellishment.

     Challenges:

I hope you're going to come and play with us this week.  Remember, it's Anything Goes and you can win delightful images from QKR Stampede!  See you there.  NanaConnie

Magical Moments

I want to share another of my dance themed cards, this one in black and white monochrome and with a very CAS design.  I'd love to say it was quick and easy but I spent a lot of time planning and executing the black silhouettes with the gray scale silhouettes, and putting the 'reflections' at the bottom.

The finished image was cut with my largest QuicKutz die, and matted with black CS.  I added one of my signature bows with a pearl.  My stash of those is getting a bit low and I'm going to have to spend a day hand-sewing another 2 or 3 dozen of them pretty soon.  Once I had added the bow, it seemed finished and I decided to leave it that CAS.

Home, Sweet Haunted Home

From Spring to Halloween in just one day!  lol  I told you back in April that I was going to  play each month in the Two Old Bats challenge where they give us a Mood Board for inspiration but the actual theme is just "Halloween."  This month, the mood board had lots of witch-related pics and here's my take.

I stamped the silhouette onto vellum, then colored the scene from the back (using Promarkers.)  I cut the image with a QuicKutz die and inked the edges with a black ink pad to cover the 'white' lines that appear when vellum is cut.

The black frame was cut with a Spellbinders die.  I used my 'Linen' EF on orange CS and mounted that to the card front.  A really simple card but looking much fancier because of the frame.

     Challenges:

I love making Halloween cards and as I get new great-grand kids (2 expected this year!) it means mailing more cards each year since I still mail them to my kids, and all my grandkids as well.  So, making one Halloween card each month means that I don't have to do them all at once 3 days  before Halloween.  :-D  Kind of like working on the Christmas stash all year long.  Which reminds me, I haven't done a single Christmas card yet this year.  Yikes!

Winter Deer for Christmas

A different kind of deer than the one on my last post an hour ago but every bit as much fun for creating another Christmas card.  It's November 1 and a new challenge is starting at SheepSki Designs.  Our theme this month is "Christmas is Coming."  This silhouette image is one of Andrea's newer ones and I fell in love with it the instant I saw it!  It's called "Winter Deer" and I thought it was graceful and elegant.

OK, that's most of the posts for today but I still have one more late tonight and I know you don't want to miss that one but you might want to stop by tomorrow instead of staying up until it posts.  It really is a Saturday post anyway but I have to post tonight because of the time difference.

Silhouette Witch - Second Take

A couple of weeks ago I shared a card with this same silhouette image done in Harvest Yellow.  This time I've done it in another Halloween color - my favorite, purple.  I used gray-blue instead of purple on the moon and tied an orange bow to add to the Halloween feel.

Meowl-loween

Hey, the 2019 Cat Lovers Hop starts today
and this is my first project for it!
This is year #5.
Haven't played before and interested in joining?

Ready for another silhouette card?  This one was pretty quick and simple, and qualifies as a CAS card, I'm sure.  Have you noticed a fascination for cats in these silhouettes?   Back in the days when I was still buying rubber stamps instead of using digis (a looooong time ago!), I think I bought every single stamp I saw that had a cat in it.  Of course, when it comes to Halloween stamps, cats are easy to find, especially black cats which makes silhouettes a natural.  :-D

Sleigh Ride

This is my second post today and there will be a total of 4!  Be sure to check them all.  :-D

OMGoodness, it's the 1st of November and we have only two months left in the year!  How did that happen?  It seems only yesterday I was groaning about not having my Valentine cards done.

In any case, it IS November and we have a new challenge starting at 2 Crafty Critter Crazies.   As always, our theme is "Anything Goes with a Critter."  The sponsor is Sparkle N Sprinkle and I have used a wonderful image called "Sleigh Ride."

For this card, I started with a blank piece of white CS and I colored the sky with ProMarkers.  I printed the sleigh, the sentiment, and two small snowflakes in the sky area right onto the colored background.  After it was printed, I colored the snow on the ground, and cut the image with a simple square die from QuicKutz.

I matted the image piece with a piece of aquamarine CS, and put that onto a white card base.  I added the horizontal wrap of blue ribbon and tied a double layer bow with the sheer ribbon which already had the glittery circles on it.

Halloween Silhouette

I was browsing around some of my favorite challenges and found the one at Double D with a theme of "Trees."  Most, maybe all, of the DT ladies had used die cuts on their cards, including die cut trees.  That inspired me to grab two of my own dies (Die-versions) and make this card.

It may be a bit hard to see but the tree and fence are die cut from black CS and the owls on their tree branch are cut from dark brown CS.  Those are two different dies and I just layered them together to make the Halloween silhouette for the card.

The background is a scrap of dp from one of my 12 x 12 scrapbooking papers and the sentiment is printed onto it.  A very CAS design for a (supposedly) spooky card.  :-D

MHK Designer Inspiration Card for July

In keeping with all the fantastic Christmas sets Mynn at MHK Designs has released this month, I've done a Christmas card using one of her older sets, "Christmas Silhouettes."  This happens to be the 'Wise Men' image from that set and the sentiment I chose is from the "Holiday Deer" set (one of my favorites for masculine cards year round.)

It's a very simple design, really.  I printed out the silhouette (I love that these are done in reverse!), then cut and matted it.  I did the same with the sentiment.  I layered each of those onto sparkle CS and added a strip of satin ribbon and a bit of holly as an embellishment.

     Challenges:
4 Crafty Chicks
Brown Sugar
Christmas Cards
C.R.A.F.T.
Dream Valley
Fussy and Fancy
