Something new

Since my last post we have got another grandchild in our family, she's soooo cute. Unfortunately she is not living in Bergen but next weekend we will visit her in Oslo - looking forward to that :o))

In the meantime I have been doing some knitting. I have finished the zig-zag blanket.

I have also made a sweet little pullover, for a sweet little girl :o)

So this is going with us to Oslo. And hopefully I have managed to finish the jacket I have started. Its so fun to make those tiny small baby-clothes :o)

A couple of weeks ago, a new AnnAKa-pattern came to the shop. And of course I had to try it :o) It was small bags for shoes, laundry, underwear or whatever is nice to keep organised in your suitcase. This is my version:

Love the lady :o) I got a few of them at Vestlandstreffet and this was the perfect product for them, dont you think?

Some of you may have noticed that I have changed the name of my blog. For a long time I have tried to find another, not so complicated (!!!), name. But I havent really come up with something I like. Until my dearest one day said - You know, quilting is like 'snop' for you, you cant ever get enough! And I knew right away that Snop was the new name :o) For you who doesnt know the word, snop is the same as candy, and he's right I cant ever get enough of sewing, blogs, patterns, fabrics, magazines, books, rulers......... I love it!!!

Its been really busy lately, so today I have no plans. Feels good, I just want to knit and sew a bit and maybe read my new book from Carlos Ruiz Zafon - he is one of my favourite writers.

Have a wonderful, relaxing Sunday

Long time away!

I know, but now the holidays are over. We've had a wonderful time on the sea, at home, visiting family, so now its back to business, start sewing and blogging again :o) This is one of the charming views from the mountains.

Wouldn't you just love to live in this cabin??

I know I prepared a lot of stitching to bring with me, but I only had the one that I showed you done. It is something about summer that makes the sewing urge go away, too much else to do! But I did visit a couple of quilting stores, in Grimstad and Kristiansand. Thats always fun, and of course I didn't go emptyhanded from those stores :o)

This is some of what I bought at Merete's Atelier in Grimstad. I also bought some more, but didnt take a photo. In Kristiansand I bought wonderful blue and white fabrics to make a throw for the boat - I think. Will show you pictures later.

Since I started working again, I felt the mojo coming back:o) And I have made a bag, the newest pattern from AnnAKa, called Anna's Skulderveske. Its really cool, and this may not be the only one I make.

Great size

Big pocket in the front (and - no, the fabric isn't upside down - the writing goes both ways.....)

Two pockets inside

And a big pocket on the back

The only thing I miss is one or two smaller pockets for my cellphone and keys and smaller things. If I make a another I will add this to make it even more perfect :o)

I have been knitting a bit this summer. I have started a wonderful soft babygirl blanket, Found the pattern on pickles.no, easy and fun to knit.

Hope you all have a great evening!

Yarn paradise :o))

Look at this - isnt it gorgeous???

Its a sale, 30% off all wool yarn at www.garnstudio.com....... And I just had to buy some :o)

Merino wool for babies

Red, white and blue for a Marius-sweater

Various pinks because they're so beautiful, and I want to make something for me. Any suggestions??

A new type, silk and merinowool, as soft as babyskin. I have admired all the gorgeous shawls everyone is making - now I want to make one too :o)

Brown, beige and offwhite  - also for one lucky baby ;o) (no, its not me - hahaha)

I even made a new bag for my knitting.... Actually it was meant as a nice everyday-bag, but it didn't turn out the way I wanted.

Now I have to dive into my yarn-paradise, looking for what to make :o)

I just want to say thanks to all of you for visiting and especially to those who take the time to leave me some nice words - they are truly appreciated!

Have a wonderful Sunday evening!

Merry, Merry Snowmen (?)

Should it feel a bit weird making snowmen, when flowers are blooming, the trees are almost green again and the birds are singing? I dont know... But either way, the BOM packages are coming and I dont want to get behind, I really like to finish it before xmas :o) AND its a lot of fun making them. Piecing, applique, stitching - so much fun and variety.

1st block

I will use small buttons for the eyes, they will be sewn on after the quilting is done. I didnt get quite as much done on block 2 during Easter as I planned, because my DH are having an infection in his foot, and the days went by with lots of other activities - nursing/doctors/ hospital etc. But he is recovering well and will soon be on his feet again - both of them.... :o)
Beginning of block 2
The applique is meant to be done with freezepaper and needleturn, but Im not too familiar with that technique, so Im using my machine to do the applique. The only thing I have to change - I have to mirror the patterns. And of course, I didnt think of it at first, so I have some spare reindeers and a bird......

Block 1 and 2
And I have knitted a new cap for Emilie :o)

A week has already gone by, enjoy your weekend and do some sewing :o)

Silk roses

I have been making roses, beautiful roses :o) As I told you, last monday I learnt how to do it, and its actually not too hard.

I used 7 mm silk ribbon, you can use all sizes to vary the size of the rose. To make more life to the rose, the ribbon was variegated. You can choose not to use this, but I like the effect. You may see it easier on this picture. Its fun, and you can make almost any kind of flower - when you have been practising a while... :o)

Christmas is getting closer and closer, almost too fast.... Soon, very soon I have too start buying little presents for the girls for their calender - december is only a few days away :o/ We will soon have a baking workshop at my sisters house, have to start thinking of making the x-mas cards, next weekend we will make our traditional gingerbread house, and not to forget getting all the presents ready. Fortunately this is all things that I love doing :o) The clue is NOT to make a stress out of it - and usually Im good at that !! I have at least started making one present....

Now Im ready for a new, exciting week - Im having so much fun in the shop with the girls :o) Imagine a table filled with lots and lots of 'yet to come' - fabrics, getting to choose your favorites and order it for the shop - couldn't be better, a dream come through :o) Have a look at our web site, www.quiltekroken.no. Or like us on Facebook if you want :o)

Wishing you all a lovely week!!

A knitted finish :o)

Wow - its been a long time since I have finished a sweater. But today I did .......

Its a birthday present for a little charming boy,

soon to be four years :o) Hope he and his mom will be satisfied !

Its used Fabel, a wool yarn from Garnstudio.

I have also made all of the stars for the runner Im about to make. Originally I was making a wallhanging with 4 stars, but Ive changed my mind, Im making a tablerunner instead. For me its more useful.

But Im not sure what to use in the sashing, a dark beige or a dark brown.

Maybe you can help me??

Wishing you all a wonderful evening :o)

Magic loop and a magic weekend

One of the things I have never liked too much about knitting is the sleeves of a sweater and using 5 needles. So I was soooo happy this summer when I learnt the magic loop! Imagine never have to use those needles again, I can knit sleeves, mittens, socks and whatever with a circular needle - what a joy :o)) And its so easy!

My birthday was last week, and one of the things I got was this.

Its a set of knitting needles, all sizes from 3,5mm - 10mm, and cords in 4 different lengths. And I can combine them as I need. Goodbye too the mess of needles in all sizes, never knowing which ones I have and always buying new ones because Im not sure if I have that size or if its lost somewhere..... Everything I need is in this little bag - genius!!!

My birthday were celebrated at Slåtterøy lighthouse, a beautiful little island in the far west of the norwegian coast, overlooking the North Sea.

We got a guided tour in the lighthouse, which is from the 1850's. This picture is taken from the top, looking down at the house we stayed in. I am very facinated by the sea and the forces of nature, so I wished for strong winds when we were there. On sunday it was a strong breeze and this is what it does to the sea - enjoy! Imagine how it would be during one of the winterstorms!

We had a great time!

There are still 9 more weeks to join the fun at Sew We Quilt, today the prize is an Accuquilt Baby-Go. Head over and see and give me a word if you want to join.

Wishing all my friends a wonderful week!

OMG - how time flies!!!!

Wow, it has been 3 weeks today since my last post - way too long.... But thats the way it is (and should be...) during summertime, lots of other things taking my time and attention. First of all - at last its time for sailing again, lying in the sun doing nothing but watch whatever's passing by.

Taking a swim in the way too cold sea (11 gr C)... Well at least for me, I was the one holding the towels ready :o)

Having quality time with the family, relaxing in the arms of a loved one :o)

While on the boat I have started handquilting  Bella Parade, and I really like how it turns out. It will get some wrinkles I think but I dont mind. Maybe they disappear when I wash it after its finished. As Im not a very experienced handquilter, my stitches are not even all over, but they will be better in time. I am using Pearl Cotton DMC thread.

I have made a load of toiletpurses/make-up purses etc for a friend of mine. I didnt take pictures of them all, but here are some

This one is made of leftovers from Bella Parade, and I practiced my swirlquilting - could have been better.... :o)

To be kind to my elbow I try to vary between sewing and knitting, and Im knitting a jacket for myself using Alpaca and a sweater (Fabel) for a sweet little boy I know :o)

I guess, for some reason, Im trying to convince you all that even if I havent been blogging, I have been doing something :o) Well, well - anyway Im happy its summer!

I also want to thank you all for all those sweet comments on my last post, I really really appreciate all of them - THANK YOU !!!

See U soon :o)
