S for Starfruit!

Star fruit is producing a lot of fruits now! The flowers get drench by heavy rain but somehow succeed to produce sweet fruits! It's been ages since I ate them! Now I'm happy to harvest and taste them so fresh from the garden!

The fruit size is small. Not as big as the market bought size but I love the fresh taste!

Cabbage

Last weekend I have harvested the last 2 cabbage heads! Snails are found everywhere and I was worried about my cabbages. So I decided to harvest them first before the snails!

It look like my garden is getting very empty now. The heavy and continuous rain is making almost impossible to plant any new vegetables at the moment. Some seedling have died due to soggy soil.

I will stop planting vegetables until end of this month. Anyway the cabbage harvest was really tasty! I mix with some capsicum ( from the market).

Spinach!

"Popoye the sailor man" was my favourite cartoon when I was young! Every time I see him gulping a tin of spinach I will be wondering if spinach give that much power to human! hahha......

In reality I don't have Popoye in my garden but I have a lot of grasshoppers munching my spinach!

This is my last harvest of spinach for this year! I rather eat this spinach than the wet market bought spinach which is all round and without even a little hole....... I know why there is no sign of a pest attack.....

The spicy Chillies

Cili padi is very spicy chilli. Few chillies are enough to bring tears to your eyes. Some eat this chillies with soy sauce. Definitely I'm not one of them....

I use this chillies as substitutes to big chillies for vegetable stir fry or Mee.

Bunga Talang

The scientific name is Clitoria ternatea, but commonly known as butterfly-pea, blue-pea, bunga telang and cordofan-pea, is a plant species belonging to the Fabaceae family.

Bunga telang is climbing vines which produce purple colour flowers! In Asian dessert, the flowers are used as colouring. It produce very contrast and beautiful blue colour to any dessert. Nasi Kerabu , a famous Kelantan rice recipe get it's beautiful colour from this flowers. The flowers can be boil and it produce beautiful blue syrup! The seed pod can be eaten while tender!

The plants are usually planted for ornamental purpose as well as to improve soil quality due to the capability to decompose N rich tissues. The roots form a symbiotic association with soil bacteria known as rhizobia, which transform atmospheric N2 into a plant useable form. ( information from Wikipedia)

Indian use the flower as offering to god too!

kangkung back again!

We call this vegetable Water spinach or Kangkung in Malay.

It taste so good with chilies and some like to add belacan too! Kangkung has disappeared for few months from my garden. I try to sow them but the seedling die off after sometime! May be the weather was so hot but now since it's raining everyday, Kangkung is happy to be on the ground! The whole yesterday it was raining continuously for almost 24 hours!! I bet Kangkung is the only vegetable which should have enjoyed every drop of rain!

spreading out from the bed
Vegetables do have pretty flowers! I can't deny that! Look at Kangkung flowers! So white resemble purity!
pretty white flowers!
