Happy Halloween!!

So here's another update since Ryan just tried on my very, very old fairy princess costume that he found and he was so proud...

Also, the boys decided that they would be Spiderman for Halloween, Ben is the Black Spiderman, Ryan is the Red and Blue Spiderman. Of course now that Ben has worn his Spiderman costume to one party, he now wants to change his costume choice AGAIN! So now he's dressed as a Zombie while Ryan is a Fairy Princess. However, this is the Spiderman duo last night prior to the party.

And this is the Spiderman duo while we were at the Trunk or Treat at the church. The boys had a blast by the way...

And, here's just another cute picture of baby Brooke...

Lovin' this Fall!

I am so sad to see all of our beautiful leaves falling from the trees. The trees here in Wisconsin are amazing and so vibrant! I'm now gearing up to not seeing green on the trees for 7 months, I figure then I won't be disappointed if it really does take that long. The boys and I have tried to stay active, even with the cooler temperatures. Last week we took a walk through Heckrodt Wetlands again, and the leaves were great, it was right at the peak. Here is a picture of the boys there:

They are not having any trouble going to their Sunday school classes anymore, which is a huge relief- they even run to them after Sacrament meeting, how great is that? So far this move has proved to be a great blessing for the boys. They have made new friends and enjoy school and are learning so much. They still talk about Mara and Dexter every once in a while, but they accept the fact that we live far away now.
Steve and I took a drive over the weekend and came to this great park on the water in Neenah.

The boys got out to get out and play for a while, then of course the potty emergency happened and everyone had to load up and find a bathroom. Isn't that what always happens? It's not just me and my boys is it? I'm going to put our little potty chair in the trunk to have in case of emergencies. Of course the park bathrooms get locked up after Labor Day weekend- who does that?? Anyway, we are still enjoying our time together in Appleton.
Brooke is getting bigger and more alert. She turned 6 weeks old yesterday! She still only gets up about once a night and sleeps well for naps in the day now. Although, her naps are mostly taken in the car seat because of the boys' school schedules. Oh well, at least she is well rested. Here are updated pictures of our little princess.

She smiles now and is quite a happy baby. She cries when she's tired and that's about it. We've stopped giving her a binkie since she can't hold it in her own mouth, so she cries herself to sleep at night, but it doesn't take long. I think she will be a thumb-sucker though since she always wants her hands in her mouth. I guess we'll take it as it comes.

Time Flies when you're BUSY!

I cannot believe that it's almost the end of October already! It seems that my weeks fly by faster than I can even blink my eyes. Between Ben being in school everyday and Ryan twice a week, plus their swimming class, plus Ben's soccer class, and Ryan's sports class, and Playgroup on top of that, throw a baby into the mix and life is crazy! My house is a mess, but mostly it's because in my mind I just cleaned on Saturday, when actually it was 2 or 3 Saturdays ago (is that an okay excuse?). Where does the time go? Steve has already been in his position here in Appleton for 4 months! That means that IF we choose to return to Salt Lake at the earliest time possible, which remains to be seen, that we only have 20 months to go. I just hope that the winter months go as fast as these past few have gone. It has only been in the mid-40's for the high temps the past couple of weeks, I hope it will get a little warmer before all hope is lost and we have to live like hermits.

Well, here's a quick look at what we've been up to since the last post:

With our little playgroup, we went to a pumpkin patch and apple orchard where the boys were able to pick out their own pumpkins and run through the mud. They had races through the apple trees and picked more apples to enjoy. This orchard is only about 2 miles from our house, I still can't believe how close all of these farms are, we really don't live in the sticks, I promise.

Last Saturday I took the boys to the Fire House Open House just up the street from us. Brooke stayed home with Steve due to the freezing temperatures, and he spent the morning freezing his tail off at Ben's football game. The open house was really fun! They had fire trucks, and ambulances, the police K9 unit, and a kids learning trailer all set up for the kids to see. We had Brats and hotdogs for lunch. Ben was even able to use a fire extinguisher to put out a BBQ fire. Ben has been learning about fire safety at school too so he was really interested. The scary part is that rather than being afraid of fire after talking about fire danger and how to be safe, Ben asked us when our house is going to go on fire. I told him that I hope it never catches on fire, and he promptly told me that he wants our house to be on fire so that the firemen can come. I tried to tell him that we don't want the firemen at our house, if we want to see the firemen we will go to them, not the other way around. Lord help us all!!

I have been so greatly impressed with Ben's school. He has grown by leaps and bounds, he can write every letter perfectly in upper case, he has started sounding out words, he writes his numbers 1-10. He knows directions foe right and left. He now knows to call 911 for emergencies, as well as stop-drop-and-roll, and to crawl under the smoke, if there is a fire. His knowledge just astounds me. I don't know if it's because he's finally ready to learn, or the 5 days a week is helping, or the teacher just knows how to get to him, but I am grateful.

Here's just a new picture of Brooke following her bath yesterday. She seems to be growing so fast I hate it! Knowing that she's our last makes it just that much harder to watch her grow out of her newborn clothes. I love to let her sleep on me for her naps and I know that I spoil her rotten already, but she's the sweetest thing! Ryan is a little mother hen to her. He loves to get her binkie and stick it in her mouth, whether she's crying or not. Both boys love to her look at them and they'll talk to her and interact with her. She's sleeping about 5-6 hour streches at night now, which is great for me. Now if the boys will stay in bed, we'll be in good shape.

Life is great for us, even if it is a little hectic. We're trying to keep up.

Picture Time

Last week I took the kids to Walmart to have their pictures taken. I ordered a bunch of prints, if anyone is interested in some photos let me know, I have many poses to choose from.

More Fun for us this Week!

This was taken at Appleton Memorial Park during our play group this past Thursday. Of course the boys were playing with Jefferson, and in front of the train is Daisy. Daisy is the third girl of Amy Stephenson who grew up in our most recent ward in Salt Lake City. They all had a blast together, even though it was a little chilly and windy.

On Wednesday we took a field trip to High Cliff State Park which is just about 10 miles away. It was a beautiful park, with beach access and a nice play ground. The coolest part though was the walk we took through the indian burial grounds and the cliffs that the Native Americans lived in. It reminded me of Lake Powell quite a bit, it was very interesting. The cutest part was watching the boys calling out for the "ghostes."

GI Joes

Last night we got pictures done of the kids at the Walmart photo studio, they turned out really cute. But while I was making my selections my mom took the boys to look at costumes. We left with 2 GI Joes in tow. They are so happy with their GI Joe super power costumes and fighting the bad guys that they don't want to take their costumes off. They are really cute costumes and so worth it. Thanks mom!

First Bottle

For an experiment, and just in case I decide to go back to work, I thought it would be a good idea to try out a bottle before she gets much older. She didn't seem to mind, it took a while, but then so does nursing... It was a success, she took 3 oz, and my mom was able to feed her one time before her visit was through.

We loved having "Manga" stay with us. We were so sad to drop her off at the airport this morning. Hopefully it won't be too long before visits. I'll be in Salt Lake with Brooke in 8 weeks, but the poor boys are wondering when they are going to be back. We're thinking in a year for the Ashton family reunion. If anyone wants to see us prior to that our door is open, however, as my mom discovered, the only bed available is with the boys...Good luck! I love you mom! Thanks for being a good sport!

2 Week Birthday

For Brooke's 2 week birthday we had a little birthday party for her. The boys helped make a cake and blew out her candles, we sang "Happy Birthday" to her and then we helped her eat her cake! Steve was out of town for some meetings in Chicago Monday to Thursday, so we didn't even have to share! :) At her 2 week Dr appointment earlier in the day, we found out that she weighs 8 lbs 9 oz!! Wow! That's a pound and a half in a week and a half! No wonder she's been sleeping so well. She still has a slight heart murmur so our pediatrician wants us to see a cardiologist to check it out. I'm not worried and neither is she, but it's better to be safe...
