Trick or Treat

Wednesday, October 18, 2017

Oh good morning! Happy middle of the week to you! It's Product Spotlight day at Paper Issues and it's all about Halloween!

Ok, the truth is I love Halloween. I do. It's a fun meaningless holiday. It's all about the fun. Did I say fun? And candy. And awesome Halloween paper. Like this Fancy Pants Spellbound. Growing up, Halloween colors were orange and black, In the recent years, we've seen more purple, even some lime, added to the mix, but the mint in this collection is new! I like it!  I cut the Bewitched paper using the plaid cut file, layering it over the mint side of Spot of Sweet paper I also used the Trick or Treat Sweets cut file for my title. I tucked and layered the Tags in several spots, finishing off with buttons, twine and Flair from A Flair for Buttons

My kids have outgrown the trick or treating and I can't seem to talk them into wearing costumes to answer the door. So I had to dig out some other photos. I came across this one photo of my Grandma. I think it's from her last Halloween. She loved answering the door and talking to all the kids.

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. I've got a more things planned over the next few days so come back again soon.  Remember to stock up on all your Halloween goodies before it's too late! Use DEVRA at checkout to get yours at 20% off

Unfiltered

Wednesday, September 20, 2017

Oh hey there! I bet you thought I was taking some time off. Nope. Just a light week.  I am however, participating in today's Product Spotlight at Paper Issues.  It's all about Rainbows and Unicorns, or, collections the feature rainbows and unicorns.

So for me, I had to play with the incredible new Shimelle Glitter Girl. Holy moly this collection makes me smile. It's fun, it's pretty, it's silly, it's sophisticated, it's inspiring. I actually have a plan for using most of it, but today I went all out silly. The pink in the For the Win paper provided the color and print I wanted to house all the embellishments. I mean, the puffy shaker stickers alone had me giggling in delight. I didnt know which one to use first! Add the holographic ephemera, stickers, what tape and glitter thickers, and there's not stopping me.

Let's talk about Snap Chat. No, I don't really use it. I'll leave that to my son. But the filters sure are fun to play with! I only save the ones that make me laugh. The rest go in the trash. I wonder what we'll be playing with a few years from now?

Thanks so much for taking a look at my creative view today. I'll be back later in the week with more so stop by again soon.

In the meantime, you HAVE to get some Shimelle Glitter Girl. the best part is it's 20% off when you use DEVRA at checkout!

Family

Wednesday, August 30, 2017

Hey there! Paper Issues Product Spotlight today is on the new Amy Tangerine Hustle & Heart

I will say, the more I play with these papers, the more I like this collection. It really has no "theme", so it can be used for any type of project, any moment or event you want to capture on paper. It's filled with different color stories that come together with big bold multi color prints such as the Coming Up Roses floral paper I used under the photo. The ephemera die cuts are glossy in texture and have a heavier cardstock weight to them. So beautiful! But really, the tiny suede bows are really one of the best emellishments to come in this collection. Talk about versatile!

Well, I have family all over this country. It's hard to see everyone as often as I'd like. I recently got to spend an afternoon with an Aunt of mine, who was passing through here on her way to her vacation. It was so worth the effort and also a reminder to me not to wait so long to see her again!

So here you have it, and tanks for stopping by my creative view today. This month is ending but you have until Sunday 9/3 to enter all of the  August challenges in our Facebook group.  Im recommending you get yourself some Hustle & Heart to play with! It's 20% off when you use my code DEVRA at checkout!

Ready to Fly

Wednesday, August 16, 2017

There's a new Product Spotlight at Paper Issues today. I had to join the fun highlighting the WRMK Stitch Happy and all it's accessories!

I am not even going to pretend that I sew. That's why this machine is perfect for me. Paper is my jam, and now I can machine sew right onto mu layouts.  Today I played with the Metallic gold thread and the Mint Baker's Twine.  I could have stitched a border all the way around and called it done. Instead, I used the twine as the border for my page, letting it drop and twist as I unrolled the spool. I sewed over the twine using the gold thread and the small zig zag stitch in 3 places.

My choice with the twine and thread compliments the Crate Paper Oasis . It's loose, silly and free, like a California beach day.

I quite enjoy traveling by myself. It's a quiet few ours to do what I want, uninterrupted. I like being up ion the air, seeing the clouds, the sun, and all the surroundings. It's peaceful to me, not stressful. Especially when I'm traveling home.

Thanks so much of stopping by my creative view today. I've got some ideas swirling in my head, that will soon be put onto paper. Some back again to see what I made! You can get a StitchHappy and accessories in the Paper Issues shop along with mew PinkFresh! Use code DEVRA for 20% your purchase.

Spin City

Wednesday, June 28, 2017

Hey there and welcome to he last June challenge at Paper Issues! It's another Product Spotlight and today we are focusing on ToyBox by Carta Bella. Talk about fun. It's vintage, but it's bright and colorful. A perfect combination to create pages about kids playing. The B ideas of the papers are fantastic basic prints in primary colors that are so versatile for any kinds of projects.

Today I used it for a toy themed page. I started with the Toy Time free cut file where I used the B-sides of the This Way Men  and No More Monkeys papers. After that, I used the Toys Everywhere stuck a few of the scraps behind the photo. I scattered all types of the embellishments around the page. Lastly, I played with some stitching on my Stitch happy sewing machine. I love the red twine thread!

In case you live under a rock, fidget spinners are THE THING right now. As they were originally designed for kiddos with special needs, and they happen to SPIN, I thought Id try them out with my guy. Yep, he loved them . So much, that we had to go home with not one, but two. Now to teach him how to use them. He thinks he's supposed to push the button in the middle to make it spin. this cold take all summer....

As always, thanks so much for being here today as I share my creative view. Well, I have to tell you, you need this collection. ToyBox is so much fun. I already have 3 other pages planned for it! You can get it for 20% off when you use my code DEVRA at checkout.

King of the Lawn

Wednesday, May 17, 2017

Good morning! We changed things up a bit this month with the way we do Product Spotlights at Paper Issues.  Our first Product Spotlight this month focuses on the Great Outdoors. Yes! We want you to use product featuring things you can find outside.  Easy right?

So what did I do? I cheated. Just a little. Well, more like I didn't follow directions very well. My photos are of my husband mowing the lawn, so outsides tuff. My product, not so much. So, here's how I'm made this work. I grabbed Fancy Pants Family & Co because it had that cool Our House paper. Houses are outside right? Then I cut the Here With You paper into grass. Grass is outside too! All those funny sentiments that are in the ephemera die cuts and chip board that I could use also. So see, It's outdoorsy after all!

My husband likes to make a big deal out of mowing the lawn. I like to make fun of him for it. Oh if you could hear him. "I mowed the lawn". Good for you honey!

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. I love playing with this collection an you can play with out too. Get it in the Paper Issues shop now for 20% off when you use my code DEVRA at checkout. Be suer to share what you create with us in our Facebook group.

So Very Diploma-Tic

Wednesday, April 26, 2017

Well good morning! Yes, you can call me a slacker! It's been more than a week since my last post. Well, I'm here, and I have a new layout! Paper Issues is putting the spotlight on the new Doodlebug Designs Fairy Tales and Dragon Tails collections.

My favorite thing about Doodlebug is all the bright colors. Also, that they use the colors are consistent in every collection. So no surprise, but I bought Dragon Tails. Yes. It's  birthday themed, but you had me at blue, green and turquoise!  And dragons! They can be used anywhere.

So, I used the B side of Friendly Fleet paper and the Starring You free cut file for the circle. I wanted to focus on my son. Tucking the photo into the circle helped do that. Then I took the Dragon Dots cut apart strips to create the borders around the page. Mostly because I love the colors! I used a mixture of the Odds & Ends Die Cuts, Dragon Babies Doodlepops, and This & That Cardstock stickers. A few sprinkles and flair and done!  These colors are amazing and look! Its not a birthday page!

Nope, Its a graduation page! 5th grade graduation that is! What an afternoon! It was a disaster for my son. It started late. The ceremony was so, so, long. No body was helping to distract or calm him. I sat on the floor with him, trying to do all that. Finally it was his turn to walk across the stage. Stairs meant no walker, so I helped him walk across the stage.  He smiled and got a huge round of applause so I guess it was worth it. We left immediately afterwards, He was DONE!

Thank you so much for stopping by my creative view today! Ive got more things up my sleeve, so come back again soon.

You know you should go right now and buy yourself some of this Doodlebug Dragon Tails. I just showed you it doesn't have to be a birthday page. Use my code DEVRA at checkout for 20% off your purchase!

I Love Us

Wednesday, April 12, 2017

Hello and good morning!  Oh I'm so happy about today's Product Spotlight at Paper Issues! Fancy Pants Family & Co is what its all about today!

Oh my goodness this collection is loaded with beautiful, saturated colors, and fun everyday family motifs! I love it!  Here is what I di with the first of I'm sure many I will make with it!

I only used 2 papers, Family Matters is the main strip. Altogether is what I sued to with the wreath cut file. Everything else on the page are embellishments. I used the ephemera die cuts, puffy stickers, tags and chipboard alpha, and chipboard pieces.   I tucked and layered around the the photo and that was really it. I got the idea form another DT mate who is a master at this technique.

I love baseball and take every opportunity to go see a game. Believe me, it's real not that often. my family does not love it as much as I do, but its an excuse to spend a day, or evening together, We've learned our home ballpark has exceptional services for fans with disabilities, That really make the evening even more enjoyable.

Thanks so much for being here with me today! I love it when you stop by. I really think Fancy Pants Family & Co is a wonderful collection. You should get some. I dont think its going to be around very long. Please use my code DEVRA when you check out for 20% off your purchase

This is My Perfect

Wednesday, April 5, 2017

Good morning! It's time for another Product Spotlight at Paper Issues. Today the spotlight is on the new PinkFresh Live More.  I will be honest, I have not used a lot of PinkFreash in the past, but I LOVE this collection. Maybe its the real life aspect of it, maybe its the colors. But the whole of it appealed to me. So, here is my first attempt!

I cut apart the Focus paper, placing it on white card stock. I went through the phrase stickers, placing relevant ones in between the colored lines. I added a few die cuts, some more phrases and puffy stickers, a title using the copper foil alphas and called it finished, The colors are so light and airy, combined with my photo called for a clean background. As much as I wanted to throw down some splatters, I didn't!

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today! I cant wait to create more things with the PinkFresh Live More collection. You should try it too! It's 20% off when you use my code DEVRA at checkout!

We Mermaid for Each Other

Wednesday, March 29, 2017

Hey there paper people! It's Wednesday and that means a new Product Spotlight at Paper Issues! Today's highlight is all the new Bella Blvd. There are several new collections available in the shop. There's really something for everyone this spring.

I used a combination of Make Your Mark and Secrets of the Sea. My inspiration for this page actually started with an old photo and the FREE Mermaid cut file. The two really screamed to jibe used together. I'm a sucker for turquoise, green and blues, yes the Boy color Secrets of the Sea is what caught my attention. I had the Make Your Mark  on my table for another project when the Believe watercolor paper caught my eye. The colors are the same, so I backed only the word Mermaid with it, then used the rest of it to matte the page. Speaking of the Mermaid, I'm on a bit of a stitching binge lately. I wanted that word to stand out so it worked!

This is us on our honeymoon. It's one of my favorite photos of us taken that week. We said to a waterfall, then climbed it and jumped in! It was a great day and so much fun!

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. I love these new Bella Blvd collections. One of my favorite thing about Bella is the bright clear colors. That is right up my alley. So if you like bright colors too, I suggest you head over to the Paper Issues shop and get some for yourself!  Use my code DEVRA at checkout for 20% off your order!

He Knows

Wednesday, March 22, 2017

Good morning! There's a new Product Spotlight on the Paper Issues blog! Today we are highlighting the new collections by My Minds Eye: Hey Mister, Palm Beach, In Bloom and Meow.

Im using the Hey Mister collection. It's definitely a masculine line, and it has a bit of everything. Dogs, Dads, and umm...astronomy! I began with the Hey There paper. I cut it apart, then layered it over card stock. I got the idea for the title while I was moving the photo around. I covered up the 'Y' and was left with the HE. I went through all the stickers, die cuts and chipboard to find the right embellishments for the page. I have to say the little puffy stickers are my favorite!

I want to know how dogs know what we feel. This is my dog with my son, moments after I told him my Grandmother, his Great Grandmother had passed away. Our dog climbed over to him, put his head on his lap, and stayed there. He just knew something was wrong.

Thanks so much for being here with me and my creative view today.   Im having so much fun with  Hey Mister! I've made 3 pages already! I want to see what you can do with these new My Minds Eye collections. You can get 20% off your purchase in the Paper Issues shop when you use my ode DEVRA at checkout

S.W.A.K.

Monday, February 20, 2017

Good morning and welcome to round two of this month's Issue Let's Play Post Office at Paper Issues! Haven't played along with one of our Issues yet? Here are some ideas to get you started

-Use office supplies like binder clips, tags, push pins, postage stamps and envelopes. -Alter a clipboard. -Include stamping on your project. -Document a piece of mail or a love letter. -Create a layout about your latest Paper Issues package (either a photo of the box and/or contents). -Show us your kids, grandchildren, etc. at play. -Share something about Valentine's Day/love.

I was mostly inspired by these photos and the story they tell. So I went with the envelope/love letter idea. This Fancy Pants Sweet Nothings has been staring me in the face. Especially when I saw that SWAK in the ephemera pack! I love the variety of embellishments with this collection. The tags and puffy stickers are the best! I have them mixed in each of my embellishment clusters. I love that there are other patterns and colors in this line so I can use it for other purposes than Valentines.

My son is affectionate as they come. He will hug, cuddle and snuggle, but has never given us kisses. For some reason, this time when I said "give Dad a kiss", he did! It was a big, sloppy, wet, toddler like first kiss, but we didnt care! The funniest part about it, was when We asked him to 'give Mom a kiss", he shook his head NO.

Thanks as always for being here with me and my creative view. I loved playing with  Fancy Pants Sweet Nothings and am happy we had it as one of our Product Spotlights this month. I'm also happy to play along at Scrap Our Stash this month and their tic-tac toe board. I used the top row: red, polka dot paper and tags.

You can play with us too when you purchase some from the Paper Issues Shop. Use my code DEVRA for 20% off your purchase too!

Fun & Adventure

Wednesday, January 25, 2017

Hey there! Wednesdays are Product Spotlight days at paper issues. Today we are highlighting Shimelle's Go Now Go!  I love her lines and this one doesn't disappoint. It's got travels, fall, pink, you name it and it's in there. It's one of the things I love most about Shimelle. There is something in it for everyone.

I began with the Picnic paper as my background. The World paper brightens the corner, and I layered both the Park and Here papers under the photo. I love all the embellishment choices too! Glittery phrase Thickers, and stickers are some of what's on my page!

I had the pleasure of meeting a former PI girl when she breezed through town on her way to her vacation destination. I love when cyber becomes reality! So really, she is the one who was having the adventure, but I got to partake in some of the fun. This page is a little of both!

Thans for stopping by my creative view today. Hop on over to the Paper Issues store to get some Shimelle's Go Now Go of your own as well as many if the other NEW American Crafts lines that came in yesterday!  Use code DEVRA for 20% off your purchase too!

Love U 4 Ever

Wednesday, January 18, 2017

Woot Woot! It's time for another Paper Issues Product Spotlight.  Today we are featuring the fun and happy Crate Paper Heart Day!

Me? I LOVE hearts. And Pink. If you've noticed, I'm not a sappy scrapper. I like to show my life in fun and silly ways. This collection gives me that opportunity in so many ways!  For this page I started with an awesome FREE Love Script cut file that I cut and stitched. The Happy Hearts paper is my favorite paper in this collection, also the perfect one to layer behind the heart.  I layered more papers and pieces of the ephemera die cuts behind my photo. The variety of layered stickers, chipboard and cardstock stickers give me never ending ways too add to my pages!

My guys are my world. As they get older, that doesn't change. What does is the reality that they wont be with me forever. So, every little moment, and every little selfie counts as a reminder to all of us. There. Sappy & silly.

Now, you need to get some Heart Day to play with right now!  Go directly to the Paper Issues store and use code DEVRA to get 20% off your purchase!

Splash n' Play

Wednesday, June 24, 2015

Oh hello, Its time for another Product Spotlight at Paper Issues. On Tap today? Crate Paper Poolside

Oh, how I have love this collection.  I've found the muted colors of Crate paper hard to use in the past. But, these colors are beautiful and really let the brighter colors in the photos just shine.

Some of my favorite parts of this line are the embellishments, especially the frames and chipboard titles. There is a modern twist to the vintage, marquis style lettering that feels really fresh to me. The frames can double as an embellishment as well as, well, a frame for photos. I used them both ways on my page. After creating a cluster with my photos, I tucked smaller frames backed with patterned paper around them. I added circular die-cuts & chipboard elements and a few seniments to complete the page.

This kiddo LOVES the pool. He takes his time warming up to it, but once he's in, he doesn't want to get out. Typical kid right? The higher we throw him, the harder he laughs, and the bigger the grin. By the time he's finally done, we are all worn out.

I highly recommend you get some Crate Paper Poolside from the Paper Issues shop. I've already used it for 3 pages, and have ideas for more! Need incentive? use my coupon code BEACHGAL for 20% off your order
Thank you so much for stopping by my creative view today. I've got a busy last week of June, so come back gain soon.
