Remember Family

Tuesday, October 3, 2017

Happy Tuesday folks. The Oct Take 5 Tuesday challenge is on the Paper Issues blog today.  This is such a fun challenge to join. The direction projects can take from this list is limitless.

I saw the blue, white and orange and immediately thought of Elle's Studio.  I love the true primary colors that are consistently available. Especially in Family Fun.  The small basic prints make it easy to mix and match papers within this collection, or add from other collections as I've done here. The script sketchy words and stickers round out the lighthearted feel of the papers. What I eventually wound ups with for my Take 5 are blue, white, polka dots, stickers, enamel dots and journaling.

From one generation to he next, it doesn't matter if you are a Great Uncle or a 5th cousin, family is family. That's how we work. My son and uncle shared a special bond from the very beginning. Whether sitting together enjoying the sun or learning to play poker, the time they spent together was always meaningful. Im so glad they had time together, even if it wasn't enough.

Thanks so much foie being here with me and my creative view. Tune in for more, it's going to be a full week around here.  Family Fun is easy to work with and available now in the Paper Issues shop. Get it and so much more for 20% off when you use DEVRA at checkout.

School Day!

Friday, September 8, 2017

Well hello there! Yes! we survived the first week of school! It's Fri-Yay!  It's Also Free File Friday at Paper Issues. We have 2 new FREE cut files going into the shop today. I used the new School & Sports file on my page today

I wanted to do something little different. After staring at this for a while, I came up with the idea to create my own background. I decided to dig out the old Silhouette sketch pens and start there.  My first idea was quickly becoming too complicated. I stuck with the sketch pens, only adding more colors. I cut the title, gluing it down, only laying the word sophomore over it's sketched version for emphasis. Like this so much I just may do the same thing for my older son's first day photos!

I purposely bought the new Elle's Studio Family Fun for this years back to school photos. If you haven't figured me out by now, I love bright colors! I am a sucker for primary colored papers and basic easy patterns! This collection is just that.

First day of school morning are a blur around here. This year seemed more crazy than usual and I was only getting one out the door. There was no time to get any before school photos so we had to wait until after school. He was so happy getting off the bus!  He cooperated. For the most part. He smiled. That's a win.  Another first day is in the books.  I can't believe he's a sophomore already. Hope its a great school year for him!

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. Now that school is back in session, I can get back into my routine. that means consistent craft time, and consistent blogging. This new  Elle's Studio is pretty fantastic. Get some in the shop while you can for 20% off using code DEVRA at checkout. See you soon

That's What a Hamburger's All About

Saturday, May 6, 2017

Hey there! It's National Scrapbook Day and it's also Sketchy Saturday at Paper Issues! I love a good sketch with lots of layers. That's exactly what we have for you this month!

I didnt do a whole lot of creative extras with this one. It's pretty great as it is. The new Elle's Studio Live Laugh Love landed at my doorstep recently. We haven't seen much sun this spring, so these colors were a welcome sight! I mixed in a few older pieces I had left in my stash. I really like that the colors are pretty consistent in all the collections.  As usual, I have taken the every day sayings, and applied them into some sort or sarcasm, or other meaning. I guess you can call that a signature of mine.

In N Out Burgers has been a favorite of mine since I was a child.  My Mom took me to the original restaurant where she used to eat. So now, every time I go home for a visit, In N Out is a must!

Thanks so much for having out with me for a bit today. There's still some Live Laugh Love in the shop that you can get for 20% off when you use my code DEVRA at checkout.  Join us in our Facebook group to celebrate National Scrapbook Day and share your projects!

Picnic Pix & Bundled Up

Monday, May 25, 2015

Hey there. I have two pages to share today. I'm playing along with both May challenges at Scrap Our Stash.

This first page I created for Paper Issues Scraplift Sunday. I used the ideas of the EMBOSS stash challenge when I put it together.  Elle's Studio, Mist, Brads, October Afternoon (alphas), Stripes, Squares

Just a beautiful summer picnic on a cliff overlooking the ocean. I liked the cuteness of the hats. These two have a special relationship. He would only sit still to eat if Nani was sitting with him.

This second page is for the sketch challenge.

Yes, I know we are headed into summer, but when I saw the sketch, I thought of these photos and snowflakes.  I almost forgot about the handmade flower. Because I used snowflakes, I made a layered snowflake 'flower'. I cut a larger snowflake on the Silhouette, layered a snowflake sticker, then added another small circular snowflake sticker in the middle.

I look at these photos now and think about all the time and effort it took to get out the door during the cold winter months. Hats, boots, gloves, scarves, coats. Just to get into the car! He was always such a good sport and so patient. But he loved his crazy hats.

Thanks for stopping by my creative view today. Come back gain soon, I have lots to share.

Sisters, Cousins, Family

Wednesday, April 15, 2015

Good morning! It's Product Spotlight day at Paper Issues. Today we are featuring Elle's Studio Cienna.

I love the colors, especially the pink. The flowers, and the femininity of this line are things I don't often get to use in my scrapbooking. This is one of those times that I decided to treat myself to something different, that I would use primarily for me.

So what did I use it for? A photo of my cousins. It was too beautiful not to use!

I tried something new and used a bolder background pattern with the pink stripe. I dumped out the packages of wood veneer and ephemera, then mussed them around until they were in a line that I liked. I matted the photo on a contrasting polka dot paper and used two more paper strips under the photo. The journaling tag? That is the piece of cardboard in the ephemera pack. It was a nice way to repeat the floral on the page. I think my favorite thing about this line is the bit of whimsy in the design of the shapes. They are fresh, but not too juvenile.

The design of the page is inspired by one of the new templates in the Get It Scrapped Scrapbook Coach: Balance.

You can find Elle's Studio Cienna and much more in the Paper Issues Store . New product is constantly arriving. Use my coupon code BEACHGAL and save 20% off your order.

Thanks for stopping by my creative view today. There is always lots going on, so stop back again soon
