Cousins Klub

Tuesday, September 27, 2016

Good morning!  Get It Scrapped constantly finds fresh, outside the box ideas for my scrapbook pages. For example, today's article uses CRAYONS in unusual ways.

I decided to make my own ombre background so I could make custom colored shapes with my die cut machine. For the waves, I used 4 colors of blue crayons, binding them together with a rubber band. Putting them flat against the paper, I colored in an angled back and forth motion across half of the paper. I repeated the process using different colors for the sun and clouds.

I wanted the waves, clouds and sun to have some texture, simulating movement. creating my own color helped me achieve what I wanted.  I used the Land Ho cut file from The Cut Shoppe to create the waves.

We don't live near family. It's always a big deal when we do  get together. For these cousins, it doesn't matter how much time passes between visits, when they are together, it's like no time has passed at all. I caught them being silly as they usually are. I asked what they were giggling about, and they said we are the Kousins Klub. And that's with a K...

Dance With Me

Good Monday to you. I generally like Mondays. Yes it the beginning of the week and it's 4 more days until Friday, but its back to the routine for everyone and that's a good thing. It's also reveal day for Let's Get Sketchy. Here is today's sketch

Here is my translation. Yes, yes, I know. Another Bar Mitzvah layout. I promise. I only have 4 more to do! But, I love that using these sketches has helped me get so many pages for this album finished!

Like here, I just changed the square photos into 3x4 then used other elements that went with my theme. The initial design is still there, but I made the rest my own. I also used a newer to me favorite tool, the American Crafts DIY roller stamp. This one has a heart shape on it. I wanted a polka dot look. Instead of rolling it in paint or an in pad, I used mist. The thinner liquid left a more random impression, which is what I was looking for.  I made my tools work for me.

Now turn to it's your turn to put this Let's Get Sketchy sketch to work for you. Don't forget you still have time to submit for Issue 5 of Let's Get Inspired Magazine. Submissions are open until October 1. Thanks for taking a look at my creative view today. Stop back again later in the week. I'll have more to share for the Let's Get Sketchy Blog Hop

D is for Daredevil

Wednesday, February 12, 2014

Oh yeah, ain't that the truth. AKA "who do you think you are? Evel Knievel? Yes, I had fun with this one and got to play along with a few more challenges. Today's LOAD prompt is to make your own embellishment. I did not play along with this prompt today. Short on time and needed to use it wisely.

But the ideas for this age come from 123 Get Scrappy and My Scraps & More.  The item I used from the board at 123 Get Scrappy are balck background, polka dots and more than 2 clusters. The title is from My Scraps & More.

Oh this title is perfect and the bold papers as well. They kind of add to the chaos of the photos. I haven't done a page like this in a while, but I was determined to use the photos I had, with out resizing and reprinting them. I did start with balk cardstock, but covered most of it in patterned paper. There are lots of polka dots and I did create 3 small clusters around the edge of the page. It was fun just putting random items together to create a cohesive cluster.

Come back again tomorrow when I post LOAD #13...

Tickets for 3

Monday, December 23, 2013

Well, we've made it this far into the month, there are only a few days left until the big day. Are you ready? Or just ready for it to be over? My December was super busy, as I'm sure everyone else's has been as well.  I did find some time to scrapbook. Not a lot of time, but just enough to get some pages finished for some challenges.

Speaking of challenges, here is my second reveal for ScrapStuff'z Inspired by.

The inspiration photo:

 Tickets for 3

First of all, I used sketch #109 from Inspired Blueprints.  I needed a little starting point to get my page going.  I liked this sketch because it had a lot of square elements, like the photo.  When I looked closely at our inspiration photo, I saw that everything in it is related to Christmas, in some way.  I also liked that the photos were overlapping and were matted.  That is how I got to my page. The photos are of us at The Nutcracker Ballet, which is also related to Christmas. I then matted the photos. The washi tape down the center gives them the appearance of being over lapped.

I also chose some design and embellishments from 123 Get Scrappy.  In this months grid, I have a lot of options. So you can look at this page and see the color green (paper), scalloped edges (misted background and tag over photo) and staples (attaching small red heart vellum).  The other way to look at it is numbers (in title), baker's twine (attached to journal tag) and Scalloped edges.  It all worked together to help me create a page I really like, that shares a short family story.

I'm glad you stopped by to see my creative view of our  ScrapStuff'z Inspired by photo. Please, come show us how you were inspired as well.
