Christmas Wishes, Sugar Bowl Challenge 22 Kathy's Sketch

It is time for another Sugar Nellie challenge at the Sugar Bowl, this week it is Challenge 22, Kathy's sketch and you need to use lace on the card. I just got my new Christmas Sugar Nellie's so I couldn't wait to use one of them. I think this angel stamp is my favorite, though all four are
really adorable.
When I started the card I knew I wanted her dress to have some sparkle to it. By the time I finished the card the whole think was sparkling! A while back I bought some Swarfsky crystals for another project and didn't use them all so it seems a perfect fit for this card. I used them on the stars, her wand and the little strips in the corner. I dabbed the back round with Icicle Stickles and painted the stars on her dress with Stickles also. The trim on the hat on the dog is painted with the Stickles. Once I started I kept finding new places to put sparkle.

I still needed to find the right embellishment for the bottom corner like in the sketch. I decided to stick with the star theme and punched out stars and ran them through my small Xyron machine then glittered them with Diamond Dust. They still didn't "POP" enough so that was when I used the crystals as a the finishing sparkle. I wish my pictures showed how much sparkle there is but it just doesn't come through. I tried a close up to try to show the sparkle but it still doesn't show it all like IRL. The card needed lace on it and I tad this pretty piece in my stash. It didn't stand out very well so I put a piece of cranberry ribbon underneath so show the dainty detail of the lace. I hope this card has inspired you to add some sparkle to your creations!

Supplies
Stamps: Sugar Nellie, Impression Obsession(saying)
Paper: SU Regal Rose, Papertrey White, DP Basic Grey

Good to the Last Drop, TSSC87

I am going to try to be better about posting earlier on challenges. This card was made for Mary Jo's Monday Lunchtime sketch challenge 87. This is one of the Sugar Nellies that came in the Fall set. It is the first "boy" stamp that I have bought and I really like it, I usually go right for the girls.
The DP on this card was from a sheet that I saw at my LSS and loved the non-traditional Fall colors and the sparkle on it. Little did I know that it would be so hard to match to any other colors. I think I came close but it's not perfect like I like it to be. I am sure I'll try again with the scraps I have. I added Stickles to my leaves to tie it in to the DP leaves. I love my cards to sparkle whenever possible!
Supplies
Stamps: Sugar Nellie, Amuse
Paper: SU Cranberry Crisp, Sage Shadow, Papertrey White, DP Best Creations
Ink: Copics, Cranberry Crisp
Accessories: CloudMaker, Nesties, Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, Stickles, Jo Anns Ribbon, Leaf Punch, Kaiser Pearls

I hope you like my interpretation of this week's sketch. Mary Jo's sketches are always a lot of fun and every one's cards are fantastic! You should check them out or better yet play along.

Thanks for stopping by and letting me know what you think of my creations. I really do appreciate all your wonderful comments.

Have a wonderful day,

Picking Apples, Sugarbowl challenge 18

I am trying to think forward to Fall that is just around the corner. This Sugar Nellie image makes me think of Fall because of the apples in her basket. Right after the start of school the kids in the classroom are always coming in after a weekend and bringing an apple for me because they have gone apple picking with their family and know I am always eating apples.

Because I love the Sugar Nellie images and I had fun playing in the Sugar Bowl last challenge I decided to play again. It is a sketch challenge 18, and you needed to use buttons. I NEVER use buttons though I have a lot of them. It took me so long to finish the card because I kept changing my mind on which looked best. I finally made my own by using clear buttons and putting DP behind them so they would match the card. I tried to use Fall colors and green is definitely not my color of choice most times but I thought she would look Fallish in green and I love this Basic Grey DP.

Supplies
Stamps: Sugar Nellie
Paper: SU Close to Cocoa, River Rock, Papertrey White, and DP Basic Grey
Inks: Copics, SU Bashful Blue
Accessories: Cloudmaker, MS Punch, EK Success Corner Punch, Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, CTMH Flowers, Clear Buttons, LSS Ribbon

I hope you like this card as much as I do. I have just ordered the new fall set of Home Grown Sugar Nellies and they are on their way here. I can't wait to ink them up they look wonderful in the pics.

Thanks for stopping by. I really appreciate your comments about my creations.

Have a great Day,
Mary

Miss You, Copic Creations Challenge, Basic Grey Week 1 Challenge

I found two wonderful blog challenges that were using two of my favorite creative tools, Copics and Basic grey DP. This is the card that I ended up creating . The first challenge was for
Copic Creations, your card or project had to be red, pink and hearts. These aren't two colors that I would normally use together except at Valentine's Day. I just couldn't seem to find a lot to color red on the image so I used it as a accent color on the card.

The second challenge, Basic Grey Challenge 1 was to make a card using their sketch and it had to have a least on Basic Grey product used on the card. This was not hard for me since I really liked the sketch and I own almost every 6x6 pack of Basic Grey DP.

The card did take me a while to make because of matching the DP to the sketch and image. I used 3 different DPs and embossed and sanded one of them. I didn't have any red flowers so I colored a while one with my Copics. I may never buy a colored flower again because the white flower colored and dried so fast and easy. If you like challenges these blogs are both wonderful and a lot of fun to do.

Supplies
Stamps: Sugar Nellie, Rubber Stamp Tapestry
Paper: SU Real Red, CTMH textured white, Papertry white, DP Basic Grey
Inks: Copics, Memento and SU
Accessories: Cloudmaker, SU tag punch, Punch Bunch leaf punch, Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, CTMH flowers, Michaels ribbon, JoAnns pearl ribbon, MM heart brad, Fashion Sense Pins and misc brads

Thanks for stopping by to check out what I did for the challenges.
I really appreciate your wonderful comments on my card.

Have a wonderful day and stop by again soon,
Mary

Hot Days, Cool Treats, 3CTC25

I have been playing a lot this week since summer school ended. I have three weeks until we start school for the fall. I have had this cute Sugar Nellie stamp for a while now and just got around to using her. When I saw Kerry weekly challenge, 3CTC25, was summery I knew she would be perfect for it, after all who doesn't cool off with an ice cream when it's hot like right now.

The colors that I used for this card are definitely not colors that are in my comfort zone. I thought this paper screamed summer though and luckily it matched the colors enough that I colored the image with. Did you notice the flowers in the corner? Rubber Stamp Tapestry's blog showed how to fold regular Prima type flowers to get a totally different effect with them. I used my CTMH flowers because they came with these leaves. I really like the look that you get without having to spend money on new flowers! The brad in the center of the circle is a SU Build a Brad. I stamped a RST flower and colored it, punched it out and put on the brad. I have had these brads for a long time I just never think to use them, unfortunately I have a lot of stuff that I forget about using.

Supplies:
Stamps: Sugar Nellie, SU, Rubber Stamp Tapestry
Paper: SU Old Olive, The Paper Co. Shimmer white, Papertrey White and DP Basic Grey, Sassafras
Ink: Copics, Memento Black, SU Bashful Blue and Pixie Pink
Accessories: Nesties, MS Punch, SU Build a Brad, CTMH flowers, Stickles, Crystal Effects, Michaels pearl stickers and ribbon

I hope you enjoyed my card. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment, it is very much appreciated.
Enjoy your day,
Mary

Color My World,TSSC77, Copic Creations #7

I just love Sugar Nellie stamps and the Home Grown girls are beginning to become my favorites. I am not sure why this one was one of the first I bought, maybe because you don't often see a stamp of a cute girl doing painting.

I made this card for Mary Jo's Monday Sketch challenge, TSSC77, It was a really easy sketch to work with. I chose to turn the sketch on it's side for this card and then add my own touches to it.
You can't tell from the picture but all the paint(except the wall) and the paintbrush have Crystal Effects on it to give the idea of wet paint.

I also used this card for the Copic Creations challenge #7, to color an image with brunette hair. I am always experimenting with hair color to try to get it as natural as possible. I love that Copics let me blend as much as I want and play around with what I don't like.

Supplies:
Stamps: Sugar Nellie, Hero Arts
Paper: SU Pretty in Pink, Cool Caribbean, Papertrey White, DP Basic Grey
Inks: SU Cool Caribbean, Memento black and Copics
Accessories: Nesties, SU pearls Crystal Effects, Prima flowers, Michaels ribbon, and JoAnns pearl beads

Thanks for stopping by to see what I have created. I hope you enjoy my cards.
Have a wonderful day,

Butterfly Kisses...

Life has been so busy this past week. This is the first card that I have found time to make because of work, home and gardening. I love my gardens but they do take a lot of time in the Spring. It is well worth it though come July when everything is in full bloom. I planted some perennials that attract butterflies this year. This is what made me want to make this card. This is one of the new Sugar Nellie Home Grown stamps.
The image is colored with Copics. I made a mask for the image because of the light colors I used and then did the clouds. The two stamped butterflies were cut out and popped up to make them look realistic. All the butterflies were brushed with Stickles to give them some sparkle.
Supplies:
Stamps: Sugar Nellie Home Grown, Serendipity Stamps
Paper: SU Pink Passion, Neenah White, DP Basic Grey
Ink: SU Bashful Blue, Pink Passion, Memento Black and Copics
Accessories: 2 SU Punches, MS punch, Paper Shaper Punch, Stickles, CTMH flowers, Michaels ribbon and Pearl Stickers
Thanks so much for stopping by to see what I have created.
I really appreciate all your wonderful comments about my cards.
Please by again soon,
Mary

Daisy

I hope everyone is having a good week. At school we just finished the state mandated MCAS testing. If you ask anyone at school they will tell you that they are so glad it is over for another year! We are now down to the countdown of 30 school days and we will have the summer vacation break, YEAH!!!! Then I will have lots of time to make cards, work in my garden and keep my house clean.

This card was made with one of my new Sugar Nellie stamps. I wanted Daisy the most of any of the stamps I ordered. She is so fun to color with Copics. When I finished her I wanted to do something different with the image so I decided to put her behind the circles instead on top of them. The card looked plain so I decided to use my Rubber Stamp Tapestry set and make a wreath of sorts around her. I like the way it came out except I wish I made the top layer Cool Caribbean instead of Lavender Lace. I think the flowers would have shown up more. Next time I will remember that. I also pulled it apart a few times to add DP on the bottom and punch the corners. I had too much time in Vermont to keep trying to make it better. The wreath around Daisy and the ring of flowers in her hair have lots of Stickles on them to make the card sparkle!

Anyone that knows me also knows I always have to have words of some sort on the front of my cards. This one doesn't because I just can't seem to decide what I want the card to say. Has this happened to anyone else? I have gotten use to looking at it without one but I am sure before I give to someone the right words will come to me. Thank goodness she is cute enough not to need words though.

Supplies:
Stamps: Sugar Nellie, Rubber Stamp Tapestry
Paper: SU Cool Carribean, Lavendar Lace, Neenah white and DP Magenta
Ink: Various SU colors, Memento black and Copics
Accessories: MS butterfly punch, SU punch, Nesties, Stickles, Michaels pearl stickers, JoAnns pearl ribbon and Michaels ribbon

I hope you like my Daisy and come back soon to see the other Sugar Nellies that I have been working with.
Thanks for looking,
Mary

It feels like it has been forever since I have posted. Our stamping weekend in Vermont was fantastic! Lots of friends, laughing, great food and creativity among all the stampers and scrapers. We even managed to leave the inn long enough to hit the LSS for a 25% off everything in the store sale!
