Voitin Time Out Challengesin haasteen #17 ja saan siitä hyvästä kunnian toimia tämänkertaisen haasteen vieraana.
I was chosen as the winner of Time Out Challenges' challenge #17 which means that I now have the honour to be a Guest Designer in the current challenge. The challenge now is to CASE with your own twist this gorgeous card by Aimes:
Aika erilainenhan tästä tuli, joten en tiedä, miten hyvin tämä haasteen CASE-osaan sopii mutta tulipa ainakin twistattua melkoisesti ;) Mikäli CASEaminen ja twistaaminen kiinnostaa, niin ei muuta kuin Time Out Challengesiin hops!
That's one lovely card, isn't it? What stuck in my mind most about this card was the golden cloud, the little snowflakes, the use of white space and the way Aimes layered white cardstock on white cardstock. So, using those ingredients I (quite heavily ;) ) twisted my way to my card where I heat embossed 'Dotted Snowflake' by Hero Arts and the sentiment in gold (the sentiment says 'Merry Christmas' in Finnish). I left lots of white space and layered the front panel on white cardstock before adhering it to white cardbase. So there it is, quite different from the original so I'm not certain how well this fits the 'CASE' part of the challenge but at least I used my own twist, a lot ;) Now it's your time to CASE Aimes' card with your own twist so hop on over to Time Out Challenges and start twisting!
Kiitos, kun käväisit ja kiitos, jos kommentoit. Mukavaa torstaita!
Thanks for your visit today, I'd love it if you left me a little comment :) Enjoy your day!
ETA: I seem to be so excited about this Guest Designer spot that I'm forgetting my manners... So a big thank you to the ladies at Time Out Challenges for having me, it was an honour and such a joy :)

Punarintoja, punarintoja - Robins, robins
Lintu-teema joulukorteissa jatkuu, tällä kertaa leimakuvana on Lili of the Valleyn ihana Little Festive Robins.
The bird theme on my Christmas cards continues, this time I used this adorable stamp by Lili of the Valley called 'Little Festive Robins'. I coloured it with Distress Markers and added some red Stickles on the little berries. I die cut the image with a Rounded Tags die by Sizzix and sponged the edges with blue DI and adhered the image with foam adhesives. The border (it doesn't show very well from behind the stamped image but it's there ;) ) is die cut with a Solid Bracket Border die by My Favorite Things, and the little tag with the sentiment ('Christmas joy' in Finnish) is die cut with a Tim Holtz die ('Tiny Tabs and Tags'). As embellies there's a little silver bell and some twine. The striped paper is by LOTV, the corners are rounded with a corner chomper.
Haaste/Challenge:
* Lili of the Valley Monthly Challenge: October - Anything goes

Tirpuunen jouluaamuna - A Bird on a Branch
Tällä kertaa joulukorttiin pääsi tuo koivikkoleima PTI:n Through the Trees -setistä.
It's another Christmas card, this time with a stamp from the 'Through the Trees' set by Papertrey Ink. I stamped and heat embossed the image and sponged some blue Distress Ink on it, then I added the little bird on the branch (die cut with the Memory Box die 'Resting Birds'). The patterned papers are by Teresa Collins ('Christmas Cottage') and I die cut the curved edge with a Simon Says Stamp die. The sentiment says 'Merry Christmas' in Finnish and it's heat embossed as well. That's about it, nothing too fancy on this card (nothing new there, right? ;) ).
Kiitos, kun käväisit ja kiitos, jos kommentoit. Leppoisaa viikonloppua! :)

Joulukuusi - Christmas Tree
Tekstibannerin stanssasin My Favorite Thingsin stanssilla ja embossasin tuon Stempelkellerin tekstin.
It's been a while since I last made a window card so decided to make one now. The card base and the panel are both textured cardstock, I die cut the circle out of them both and added a piece of dry embossed acetate between them, and attached the panel with foam adhesives for a little raised effect. The tree is stamped with a tree stamp from Hero Arts set 'Merry Christmas Trees', heat embossed in white and sponged with green Distress Ink. I die cut the banner with a My Favorite Things die and heat embossed the sentiment (which says 'Merry Christmas' in Finnish). As a finishing touch, there's one red sticky back pearl.
Haaste/Challenge:
* Hero Arts: Holiday Challenge - White Out

Käpyjä, käpyjä! - Pine cones, pine cones!
Lisää joulukortteja! Tällä kertaa kortissa on männyn oksia käpyineen, leimattu Clearly Besotted Stamps/Simon Says Stampin leimoilla (Holly Berries) ja Distress Markereilla. Stempelkellerin teksti on leimattu Heron musteella (Cup O' Joe). Valkoiset kartongit on muuten Papermanian tekstuuripintaista kartonkia, tekstuuripinta antoi mukavaa rouheutta tuohon leimakuvaan.
Another Christmas card! (I'm on a roll here! ;) ) This time I used the boughs of pine and the pinecones from the 'Holly Berries' set by Clearly Besotted Stamps for Simon Says Stamp and stamped them onto some textured cardstock by Papermania using Distress Markers. The sentiment is a Christmas poem in Finnish and it's stamped with some Hero Arts ink ('Cup O' Joe'). The panel is mounted onto some brown cardstock and adhered to the cardbase with foam adhesives.
Toiveikasta torstaita! :)

Enkeleitä, enkeleitä - Angels, angels
Ympyräkortti-ihastus jatkuu :) Tällä kertaa tein ympyriäisiä joulukortteja tällä ihanalla Penny Blackin jouluenkelillä (Magic of Christmas). Tekstileima on Stempelkellerin.
I made some shaped Christmas cards with this gorgeous Penny Black stamp ('Magic of Christmas'). I coloured the angels with Distress Markers and Zig Clean Color Real Brush watercolour pens, fussy cut them out and added some Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze to their wings and some white Liquid Pearls drops to their headpieces and dresses (for the second card, I replaced the Liquid Pearls with gold Stickles). The tiny hearts on the first one are die cut with a Simon Says Stamp die ('Mini Hearts Set') and the birds on the last one are die cut with a Memory Box die ('Resting Birds'). The sentiment says 'Christmas Peace' in Finnish and is stamped on strips of vellum. The circle dies I used to cut the cardblanks and patterned papers with are by My Favorite Things.
Haaste/Challenge:
* Penny Black and More: October Challenge - Get Ahead for Christmas

Sheikkaa, sheikkaa! - Shake it!
I've been busy moving my craft room from one room to another and while doing that, I've been going through my crafty stuff and purging, purging, purging. Some things are going to be sold, some went straight to the bin and some went to my "hmm..." pile. These snowflake sequins were in my "hmm..." pile and at first I wasn't sure what to do with them but then I thought of shaker cards. And whaddayaknow, Simon Says Stamp has shaker cards as their theme in the Wednesday challenge! So off to crafting I went! :) I don't have any foam tape, I only have those little foam squares and I already thought that I can't do a shaker card, bohoo, but then I had one of those light bulb moments and I thought of sellophane bags. You know, those little clear bags you put your cards into if you're selling them. I took one of those, cut it smaller, taped the cut edges with some washi tape to form a tiny bag and put my sequins into the bag. Then I just taped the bag to the square frame, and attached my die cut scene and the sky with foam squares to the frame, and adhered the whole thing to the card base and I had myself a little shaker card! The sequins move around a bit but not too much which might just be a good thing, this way they don't all lie on the "ground" but I have some snowflakes floating in the air as well. The scene is die cut with a Memory Box die and the square frame is die cut with some Spellbinders dies (I also did some 'debossing' with a square die, I'm not sure if you can really see it in the piccie but there's a debossed line going round the frame), the sky is inked with some Distress Inks. All the white cardstock is textured white cardstock by Papermania and the sentiment wishes 'Peaceful Christmas' in Finnish.
Haasteet/Challenges:
* Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Shake it!
* Virginia's View Challenge #5: Die Cut

Kesäkukkia ja kysymys - Summer flowers and a question
Ehdin tänään hetken askarrella ja tein kortin Time Out Challengesin haasteeseen #7, jossa aiheena on kesä ja vapaaehtoinen lisä on kukat. Kukat on leimattu Papertrey Inkin Beautiful Blooms II -setin kukilla ja lehdet ovat niinikään PTI:n, Turning a New Leaf -setistä.
I had a little time to craft today and I made this card for Time Out Challenges' challenge #7, the theme is 'Summer' with the optional twist of flowers. The sentiment on this card says something like 'Smile is the shortest distance between two people' and that is what I associate with summer: smiles :) I stamped the flowers with Papertrey Ink stamps ('Beautiful Blooms II'), the leaves are also PTI stamps ('Turning a New Leaf'). The inks I used are Hero Arts Shadow Inks and the cardstock is again textured cardstock by Papermania. The front panel is raised with foam adhesives.
Haasteet/Challenges:
* Time Out Challenges: Challenge #7 - Summer with the optional twist of flowers
* STAMPlorations June Challenge: Stamps & Borders (Thanks for the hint, Nonni! :) )
Neuvoja? Apua?
I have a little question, I wonder if you can help me. I have this problem with Blogger turning my pictures greyish and dark. This picture looked good in the picture file of my computer (the white was white and the piccie had 'light') but as soon as I uploaded it to my blog, it looked awful, so grey and dull and as if it had been taken during the night in the dark. This happens every time, regardless of the colour of the background in the piccie (I've tried white, different pastel colours, etc.) and it annoys the heck out of me! Anyone know why this is? What can I do? Thanks for your help!
Mukavaa viikonloppua! :)

Keltaista! - Yellow!
Vuoden 2014 ensimmäinen kortti on tehty!
Here's my first card for 2014 and boy did it turn out quite yellow! :D I made this for P*skarteluhaaste Challenge #214 where the theme is colours yellow-turquoise-grey. I stamped Hero Arts Painted Canvas background stamp onto yellow card base with yellow Hero Arts Shadow Ink. Then I stamped the rectangular cardstock with Hero Arts Leaf and Floral Background stamp and some yellow HA Shadow Ink. The rectangular cardstock was originally white but it didn't look too good (it was a bit 'too' white) so I sponged it with some yellow Distress Ink. I die cut the birdie with a Memory Box die 'Meadow Bird' and coated with Distress Glitter. Then I stamped the sentiment ('congrats' in Finnish) onto some vellum, added a chipboard star coloured grey with a ProMarker and few dots of black Enamel Accents as embellishments and adhered it, mounted onto some grey cardstock, to card base with foam adhesives.

Tirppoja, tirppoja - Birdies, birdies
Leimakuvana on Stampendousin suloinen Snow Bird Distress Markereilla väritettynä, lisänä vähän ZIG Wink of Stella -kimallekynää.
It seems that these days leading up to Christmas are way busy for me. I'm busy doing all sorts of things, including cards, but finding the time to blog them is a bit difficult. Therefore, this time I'll just show you a whole bunch of Christmas cards without too many words. They're all pretty much the same, only the colours and the patterned papers are different in each card. The stamped image I've used is the lovely Snow Bird by Stampendous and I've coloured it with Distress Markers and added a bit of glitter with a ZIG Wink of Stella pen. The sentiment says 'Merry Christmas' in Finnish and the papers I've used are by Authentique (the Festive collection).
Siinäpä ne tirpat, löytyikö niistä suosikkia? Kiitos, kun käväisit ja kiitos, jos kommentoit. Mukavaa joulunalusviikkoa! :)
So there, a whole flock of birds :) Any favourites? Thanks for coming by today and for any comment you may wish to leave me. Have a great day! :)

Enkelitrio - A trio of angels
No niin, vihdoinkin niitä monta kertaa luvattuja joulukortteja! Tekstileima on Stempelkellerin. Vellum"lumihiutale" on stanssattu Papertrey Inkin stanssilla ja ensimmäiseen korttiin leimasin vielä saman firman leimalla tuollaisen kuvion paperiin vellumin alle. Lisäksi muutama puolihelmi. Paperit on Authentiquen ja BasicGreyn ja tuohon viimeiseen korttiin leimasin kuviopaperille Hero Artsin Modern Lines -taustaleimalla ja punaisella Shadow Inkillä, muissa taustan kuviopaperi on sellaisenaan ilman leimailuja.
OK, let's get back to the Christmas cards as I've promised you a couple of times already. And let's meet a trio of angels while we're at it, makes a change from the darkness of the last couple of blog posts, doesn't it? ;) These lovely little angels are stamped with a Sugar Nellie stamp and coloured with Distress Markers with a little clear ZIG Wink of Stella pen on the wings and the halos (unfortunately you can't really see it in the piccies but in real life they are beautifully glittery). The sentiment says 'Merry Christmas'. The vellum 'snowflake' behind the angels is die cut with a Papertrey Ink die, and the first card has a stamped doily behind the vellum, stamped with a PTI stamp. As embellies there are some sticky back pearls. I stamped with 'Modern Lines' background stamp by Hero Arts and red HA Shadow Ink on the patterned paper of the last card, the others have patterned papers on the background as is. The patterned papers I used are by Authentique and BasicGrey.
Kiitos, kun käväisit ja kiitos, jos kommentoit! Enkelimäistä tiistaita! :)

Pinkkiä lunta - Pink snow
(Please scroll down the page for the English version of my post, thanks!)
Pienellä muistutuksella mennään taas, eli Korttikarkurin Scrap a Happy Christmas - Christmas Cards Out of Scraps/Old Stash!
I made my card using a stamped image that I meant to use for these Christmas cards. However, I inked my stamp a bit too generously and got pink ink onto to the snow part - not nice at all! I almost threw the image into the bin but in the last minute I remembered this challenge and decided to try and use the image after all. I needed to hide the ink on the snow so I made a round card - now you'd never know there's pink snow hiding underneath the rim of the card! ;) I die cut the little bird with a Memory Box die and added some dry glitter on it (the dry glitter is old stash, I bought it over a year ago and have used it only a couple of times). I stamped the sentiment on a vellum banner, roughly translated it says 'Warm Christmas greetings' in Finnish.
Now there's my card using scraps and old stash, for more inspiration please hop over to Korttikarkuri to see what the other DT members have created. And don't foget to participate in the challenge itself! :)

Talvinen kylä - Winter town
Tämä kortti sai innoituksensa tästä Jennifer McGuiren kortista, vaikkakaan omaani en embossannut. Stanssasin vain My Favorite Thingsin stanssilla tuon aukon ja siitä tulleeseen kartongin palaan leimasin osan Hero Artsin Winter Town -leimaa tummansinisellä HA Shadow Inkillä ja kiinnitin kortin sisäosaan. Stempelkellerin tekstin leimasin samalla musteella. Niin, ja siinäpä se :)
This card was inspired by this Jennifer McGuire card, although I didn't use heat embossing on my card. I simply die cut the rectangle opening with a My Favorite Things die and stamped Hero Arts Winter Town image partially on the diecut itself (the stamp is much larger than my diecut was so I just used part of the stamp). The ink I used is Hero Arts Shadow Ink in 'Navy'. I stamped the sentiment with the same ink (the sentiment is a Christmas poem in Finnish and freely translated goes something like 'Dark sky on Christmas Night, the stars twinkle and light the sky. There's a kind of magic in the air, wishing you a peaceful Christmas'.) And that was it! :)
Kiitos, kun käväisit ja kiitos, jos kommentoit. Hauskaa viikonloppua! :)

Paperikukkia pitkästä aikaa - Paperflowers and banners
Lehtileimat on niinikään Papertrey Inkiä (Turning a New Leaf -setistä). Ja pitkästä, piiitkästä aikaa käytin koristeina paperikukkia, joihin laitoin timantit keskuksiksi.
This is a card I made for the first day of the Summer Card Camp 2. It follows one of the sketches given and is basically a copy of a card made by Jennifer McGuire (it seems that I'm just copying other people's cards on the Camp but maybe this way I'll remember them better and can use the ideas better in the future...). I thought the card design was so clever that I wanted to try and make one myself. Here the red banner is the front part of the card which covers the message that you can write on the inside, on the cream card base, so it is a version of a top folding card. I stamped the banner with Hero Arts 'Envelope Pattern' background stamp and Hero Arts Shadow Ink. The sentiment is stamped on the cardstock die cut with Papertrey Ink's Mat Stack 4 dies. I stamped the leaves with a stamp from the PTI 'Turning a New Leaf' set and as embellies I used paper flowers with rhinestones in their middle.
Kiitos, kun käväisit ja kiitos, jos kommentoit. Aurinkoista päivää! :)

On Tuesday, the technique featured on the Summer Card Camp 2 was heat embossing. I quite rarely use heat embossing because I usually do my crafting while my kids are taking their afternoon naps and I find my heat gun to be a bit loud so I don't really want to use it while they're asleep. And yes, I'm way too lazy to run around the house and use the heat gun in a different part of the house from where I actually craft :D But this time I did a bit of running and used the heat gun and did a couple of cards using the emboss resist technique. I almost used the colours of the week as well but then I kind of lost the plot half way through and stamped the sentiments in black instead of dark brown. Then I went ahead and used golden yellow for the little butterflies as well. Oh well... Anyways, I heat embossed the 'Silhouette Grass' stamp by Hero Arts using white embossing powder and coloured the backgrounds with Distress Stains. I don't have a green stain so I used yellow and blue to make the green. I stamped the sentiments on vellum and then just mounted the cards on green card bases. I punched the butterflies with a Martha Stewart punch.
Semmoista tällä kertaa. Kiitos, kun käväisit ja kiitos, jos kommentoit. Perjantaita! :)
That's all for today. Thanks for your visit and for any comment you may wish to leave me. Have a happy Friday! :)

Unikkoja - Poppies
Minulta pyydettiin syntymäpäiväkorttia 90 vuotta täyttävälle rouvalle ja ajattelin pitkästä aikaa tehdä trishutter-kortin. Käytin tähän Hero Artsin ihanaa unikko-leimaa (Delicate Blossoms), jonka leimasin tuohon etupaneeliin kokonaan ja sitten tuonne sisälle vain leimasimen isoimman unikon. Väritykset tein Distress Markereilla. Paperit on Graphic45:a, tekstileima Stempelkellerin. Lisukkeina hieman korupiikkiä, haaraniittiä, ääriviivatarroja ja helmiä.
I was asked to make a birthday card for a lady turning 90 years old this spring. I thought I should make something a bit special and chose to make a trishutter card. I used Hero Arts poppy stamp ('Delicate Blossoms') and stamped it for the front panel as a whole and then stamped just the biggest poppy of the stamp for the middle part of the card and coloured them both with Distress Markers. The papers I used are by Graphic45 and the sentiment is basically a birthday poem in Finnish. As embellies there are a decorative pin I made, an epoxy brad, stickers and some pearls.
Haaste/Challenge:
*Hero Arts April 2013 Challenge: Just for her
Hieman toisesta kuvakulmasta/Here's another view of the card.

Hänelle - For her
Tein pari naiselle sopivaa korttia Hero Artsin huhtikuun haasteen innoittamana. Pari siksi, että en osannut päättää, kumpi muste taustalle sopii paremmin: vaalea (Hero Artsin Shadow Ink väriltään Soft Blossom) vai tummempi (HA Shadow Ink Bubble Gum). Käyttämäni taustaleimasin on uusi ihastukseni, Hero Artsin Aged Background Block - ihana, ihana taustaleima :) Tuo korsi on niinikään Hero Artsia, Silhouette Spray nimeltään.
I made a couple of cards 'for her', inspired by the Hero Arts April challenge. I made two because I couldn't decide which colour I liked best for the background: the lighter one (Hero Arts Shadow Ink Soft Blossom) or the darker one (HA Shadow Ink Bubble Gum). The background stamp I used is my new favourite, it's 'Aged Background Block' by Hero Arts - love! The 'Silhouette Spray' stamp is also by Hero Arts. The sentiments says 'For you'. As embellies there are some washi tape, a butterfly punched out of vellum, some sequins and few dots of Glossy Accents.

I think I might like the lighter background a little better than the darker one. Which do you prefer?

Poikainen onnittelu - Boyish congrats
When I think of spring, I think of... cards for boys! That is because during spring, there are several birthdays in the family, and all of them require at least one boy card (usually two because I also make cards for my mother to give). To start this string of boy cards, here's a card I made for my nephew who'll turn 12 later this month (I suspect he doesn't really visit my blog so it's safe to blog the card ;) ). The stamp I used is by Papermania and I coloured it with Distress Markers. The papers are by Dovecraft and the sentiment says something like 'huge congrats'. As embellies there are a button, some baker's twine and a tiny paperclip.
Haaste/Challenge:

Haasteellista - Sketchy
No, tällä mennään kuitenkin ja katsotaan, miten käy. Käytin kortissa Hero Artsin/Basic Greyn Luscious Bold Flowers -setin kukkaa (leimasin kukalla myös nuo lehdet), Papertrey Inkin stanssia, Stempelkellerin tekstileiman osaa (koko leimasin toivottaa 'hurjasti onnea!' mutta embossasin tähän vain tuon loppuosan), Distress Inkejä, washiteippiä ja timantteja.
I'm not particularly good with sketch challenges, I'm never sure how literally you have to follow the given sketch or how much 'artistic freedom' you can have with it. I made this card following the February sketch challenge over at Hero Arts blog (click the link below to see the sketch) but I'm not sure if this follows the sketch as much as it should (there are, for example, no hexagons here...). Well, anyways, this is my take on the sketch ;) For this card I used the Luscious Bold Flowers set by Hero Arts/BasicGrey (I used the flower stamp to stamp the leaves as well), a doily die by Papertrey Ink, a sentiment stamp that says 'congrats!' heat embossed in white, some Distress Inks, washi tape and rhinestones.

Kortteja, kortteja, joulukortteja! - Christmas cards galore!
Would you like to see some... Christmas cards?! ;D I didn't have any time to blog them before Christmas so here they come all in one blog post. Although, I have to say these piccies don't include all the Christmas cards I made, just before Christmas I was making them in such a frenzied manner that I didn't even have the time to photograph them. But here come the ones I did photograph :) (Any questions about them, please go ahead and ask!).
Before I go, I'd like to thank you for your visits during the past year and for all the comments you have left me, I truly appreciate them all. I wish you a gorgeous and crafty New Year - I'll "see" you in 2013! :)
