After enduring numerous tension-filled sessions while self-recording 2008's Pershing, the band members decided it would be best to relinquish control over production and pursue new options when it came time to record their next album.

Not knowing which producer to contact, they began their search by reaching out to Death Cab for Cutie guitarist and respected engineer Chris Walla -- a fan and friend of SSLYBY since the release of 2005's Broom -- to see if he had any recommendations.

Unexpectedly, Walla quickly replied he had the perfect person in mind -- himself.

And so, at his suggestion, SSLYBY made the trek from their hometown of Springfield, MO to Madison, WI -- home of the famed Smart Studios (Nirvana's Nevermind, Smashing Pumpkins’ Gish).

Working with Walla (Tegan and Sara, The Decemberists) and resident producer Beau Sorenson (Death Cab for Cutie, Sparklehorse), the band members crafted the final list of 12 songs that appear on Let It Sway.

Let It Sway takes cues from the band’s quiet Broom-era bedroom recordings and couples them with the polished sound of Pershing to create a whole new aesthetic most evident on songs like album opener “Back in the Saddle” and the slow burner “Stuart Gets Lost Dans Le Metro.”

Released: Apr. 8, 2008

Pershing, the sophomore release from Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, is the next logical step in SSLYBY’s young career. Since the band’s critically acclaimed debut, Broom, they have shared the stage with the likes of Mute Math, of Montreal, Sound Team, Catfish Haven and Chin Up Chin Up to name a few. They toured libraries with cult band Harry and the Potters. They headlined a European tour and even made their way to their namesake’s homeland of Russia!

Now they are raising the bar even higher with Pershing. It has all the attributes that made Broom so endearing; however, while Broom posed SSLYBY as a promising young act on the rise and about to find its way, Pershing seems to act as its mission statement.

On Pershing, SSLYBY works out its adventure streak by way of quirky chord changes amid massive hooks and addictive melodies. The new model is not only an improvement on the original, but seemingly posits itself as the shape of things to come. The future definitely looks bright for our boys in SSLYBY.

Tracks "Think I Wanna Die," "Glue Girls," "Modern Mystery," "Boring Fountain" and "Dead Right" are sure to be favorites.

1. Glue Girls
2. Boring Fountain
3. Dead Right
4. The Beach Song
5. Modern Mystery
6. Some Constellation
7. Think I Wanna Die
8. You Could Write A Book

11. Doris Tailspin (Boring Mountain)

The members of Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin couldn’t list a single music blog until their lo-fi MP3s and low-res JPEGs made them worldwide icons of Blogdom in 2005. Even Spin read an SSLYBY blog, downloaded their music and declared the Missouri band “could succeed The Shins as the band that will change your life."

Recorded in the attic and living room of guitarist Will Knauer's home, Broom, SSLYBY's debut record, is an expertly crafted indie pop gem.

Originally, SSLYBY had a simple ambition: to make the “Local Releases” bin at CD Warehouse. However, Broom turned into a classic rock ‘n’ roll record -- the kind where pop perfectionism meets studio experimentations and each track flows effortlessly. Seemingly innocuous pop songs are molded by happy accidents of fate -- sometimes involving unexplained swarming sounds and doubled drums tracks --into the warm, ethereal tracks that made the album into a sensation.

Originally self-released by the band to sell at shows, Broom was remastered and released via Polyvinyl in late 2006.

1. Pangea
2. I Am Warm & Powerful
3. What'll We Do
4. Travel Song
5. Oregon Girl
