Grey Heron

I visited Kilbogget Park near Cabinteely while I was in Dublin today and observed this Grey Heron catch and eat what looks like a pond snail or tadpoll.  Not sure what it was, if you have any ideas I would like to hear your comments?

Grey Heron

This Grey Heron hangs out on the weir at Annacotty in Limerick.  He has been missing his left foot for about six months now and is known locally as 'STUMPY'.   But as you can see from this series of images, the loss of one limb has not impeded his skill to catch food.

Grey Heron

I was on my way home from West Limerick yesterday 26th January 2012 and took a look at the slipway near St. Michael's Rowing Club in the middle of Limerick City with the hope of seeing a Ring-billed Gull or Iceland Gull.  There were lots of Black-headed and Common Gulls but no oddities.  This Grey Heron was holding his own at the end of the slipway waiting on bread being thrown out for the swans and gulls.
