Kermit Thank You

This fun card is for one of my colleagues who has just stepped down from a regional committee he's served on for 10 years.  He's a great guy with a fantastic sense of humour, so I thought he'd get a kick out of this card, as apposed to a sappy thank you card.  He happens to also be a musician who has his own band, hence the addition of Kermit playing the banjo.  I hope he likes it.  If nothing else, he'll love the gift card inside! lol   :)

I used a few images from the net and created the sentiments and printed them off.   Paired it with some manly-looking dp from the Craftsman Collection by Prima.  In case you can't read the sentiments on the card, they read as,
It's not easy bein' green...
Nor, is it east bein' on a committee this long!

Thanks so much for your dedication!

TSC36: Monochromatic Whites Challenge

It's challenge time again over at The Stampsmith Challenge and this time around we're challenging you to create something with 'Monochromatic Whites' in mind.  For my card, I used this sweet little girl from the Thank Heaven for Little Girls #1 stamp sheet by The Stampsmith.

For the background, I brewed a pot of tea and used it to dye a coffee filter.  After I soaked it, I crumpled it up as best I could to give it an aged look and then used my heat tool to dry it out.  I then paired it with some pretty lace, a doily and a Prima flower to finish it off.

I hope you decide to play along in the fun for a chance to win a free stamp sheet from The Stampsmith!  I look forward to seeing all your creations!

TSC35: With Gratitude

Our theme for this month over at The Stampsmith Challenge is 'With Gratitude'. To play along, create any sort of thank you card, using at least one stamp from The Stampsmith to be entered into the draw for a chance to win a gift certificate, valued at $21.00 from The Stampsmith Store!

For my project, I used sweet little, Shirley, holding a bucket full of flowers.

I hope you decide to play along in the fun!  I look forward to seeing what you all come up with.

TSC4 - In honor of Thanksgiving, a Thank You card

This is my DT card for our current challenge over on The Stampsmith Challenge. This time around, we're asking you to make a Thank You card, in Honor of Thanksgiving, using a stamp by The Stampsmith. I hope you decide to play along in the fun with TSC4 for a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to The Stampsmith Shop!

For my card, I used a photostamp from The Mountains plate - found under Landscapes in The Stampsmith Shop. I wanted an image that painted a quiet, serene picture in your mind to go with the beautiful quote that reads:

There is a calmness to a life
lived in gratitude, a quiet joy.
--Ralph H. Blum

Here's a close up of the Gratitude quote in case you can't read it above...

In Canada, we celebrated Thanksgiving last month, but I'll like to wish a Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who's celebrating it this month. I wish you a wonderful holiday spent with family and friends, whom I'm sure your grateful for! Safe travels if you're travelling to be with them, as well.

Thank You

I was asked to make a special card for one of our supporters at work and this is the card that I came up with.  This is just a 5" x 7" card front and our plan is to mount it into an 8" x 10" frame and present it to them as a thank you for all their help.

I created the framed sentiment from a digi ornate crosshatch frame from The Graphics Fairy.  I re-sized it in PhotoShop and added the Thank You sentiment, using Freebooter Script.  I printed it off and used my Labels 4 Nestabilites to make a nice frame for it.   I traced the outer edge of that die and then freehand cut the black layer.

Thanks for stoppin' by! :)

Supplies:
Stamps: Butterfly (Anita's)

DigiStamp: Crosshatch Frame (The Graphics Fairy)
Cardstock: Black Linen (CRS), Flat White (Staples)
Patterned Paper:
Blue Raspberry Paisley - Fresh Print (Déjà Views)
Ink: Memento - Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Tools: Thumb Tack, Black 1/16" Dimensional Squares, 3/16" Pop Dots, Scissors

Thank You Tri Fold Shutter

I know, I know, another tri fold shutter card...lol  :)   But, I was asked to make a special card for someone who donated a substantial amount to us at work, so I thought I would make another one of these, with some really pretty sparkly and sheen papers.  I hope she likes it!  :)

I'm also submitting this 'winged creation' to the current Stampotique Designer's Challenge.  You can see the current challenge here.  You'll always see some gorgeous work over there and some funny, off the wall creations, too!  I always get a kick out of some of them!  lol  :)  Here's a link to my inlinkz submission.  I hope I did this right!

This is what my card looks like when it's all folded up like a standard A2 style card.

Here's a bit of a close up of the embossed sentiment and the butterflies that I cut out from the patterned paper and popped up off the card.

Here's a view from the top of the card to show you the dimension.

Well, I bought some new paint for my living room to spruce it up since I just got new furniture, so I need to go start taking off the existing wallpaper border and fill the cracks.  By tomorrow I should be able to start the painting.   Finally, after being in our home for 4 years, we're getting around to painting the last room in our house!  We're quite the procrastinators!  lol  :)  Anyway, I think it will look really nice when it's done...off to work! I'll post pics when I'm done.

Thank You Frameability

I had fun playing with this new Frameabilities - Decorative Frame.   I love the delicate embossing of it and the way the two frames nest into each other.  I stamped my thank you image onto vellum cardstock and recessed it behind the goldenrod frame using dimensional squares.  The frame is a bit larger than a standard A2 style card, so I centered the goldenrod base and adhered it to the frame with double-sided tape.  I added a bit of bling using my quilling tweezers to place them where I wanted them and ta-da, you have a quick and easy fancy card.  :)

Here's an angle view to show the dimension of the frame.

More Teacher Gifts and Cards

Wow, it's hard to believe that my little girl is done Preschool, ready to go into Grade Primary in the Fall. I took two of the teacher gifts to Natalia's teachers today as it was her last day of school today. I made both the gifts exactly the same, even the cards the same. I did get something different to do for Alexandria's teacher and I'll be working on that gift tonight, so I'll post pics of it when I get it done in the next couple of days. I still have a little bit of time as she finishes her last day of Grade Primary on Friday.

I made each of their cards to match the gift boxes that I made, but I decided to go with a black grosgrain ribbon for the cards and I kinda like it with the black ink. I think it gives a smart look to it. I also added some Inkadinkado flourishes to the bottom of the Thank You on the card. I also added the little wrappers to the jars of body butter. I originally thought that all three items would fit in the box, but the sides bulged just a bit so it didn't look right. I was chatting with my friend, Catherine and she suggested that I add a little wrapper to it and just give it to them with the box. I think that was a great idea, thanks Catherine! lol :)

Well, I've gotta go get crafty...

Teacher 'Thank You' Gift Box

Well, it's hard to believe that it's nearly the end of the school year and that means Teacher Appreciation Gifts. I always like to make a little something to give to the teacher's for all their hard work. I saw this cute little gift box the other day on Corie's blog and I knew it was just what I was looking for to use as a gift box for some little soaps and lotions that I picked up. I changed up my pattern a bit, but Corie has a great tutorial on her blog if you're interested in making one, as well.

I'm not sure if it's the fact that I'm rather down and out with the flu right now, but it took me forever to make this little box. I kept screwing up the measurements and having to start over...a bit frustrating for something that should have taken hardly any time at all! lol :) Anyway, one gift down and I hope to finish the other one tomorrow. Not sure what I'll make for their other teachers - Music and Gym...gotta get my thinkin' cap on for those!

Well, I've had four naps today in amongst my crafting, I'm totally burnt so I think I'll call it a day now...hopefully this darn flu will be gone tomorrow! ...Can we say only 6 more days of school and we'll be done with the passing of germs for a bit! lol :)

'Never Been Inked' Card Challenge

Our recent card challenge with our local group of stampers was to 'use a stamp that we have that we've never inked before.' None of us have any of those stamps, do we? Yeah, yeah, I know you all know what I mean! The ones that we 'had to have' and then never inked up! lol :)

So, I thought that we needed to have our challenge card done for tonight, but I just learned that apparently we decided on having it done for the Stampin' Up! party that I'm having here at my place in July. Oops, I guess I forgot! lol :) Tonight is just a fun night to get together and work on whatever we want. So, I'll share the one that I did make for now and I'll make another one for the challenge.

The stamp that I used is from a Hero Arts stamp set that I got late last year along with a bunch of other wonderful goodies from entering a card contest. I thought the set was really cute, but I had never ink it up yet, so here we go. The little flower petals reminded me of little paisley petals so I thought I'd pair it with my new Paisley Cuttlebug folder using a black and white theme for a simple elegance look.

Fun Tri-Fold

I had fun this morning making this card. I thought I'd try fooling around a bit with my scissors with some freehand cutting. I made a tri-fold card using a 8 1/2" x 11" piece of cardstock, but instead of cutting it to make a normal A2 style of card, I cut it the long way at 5 1/2" and kept the other side at 11". I made my score lines for the folds and the added the Purely Pomegranate and Teal cardstock for each of the layers, cutting each wavy one individually before adding the next layer. I also added the brads to the front of the card before adding my final layer of teal cardstock so as to hide the brad posts.

I've got my next post ready for the card that I made for tonight's fun-fold card swap with our group of friends. I've got it set to post automatically at 7:30 PM so that we'll all be at Deborah's place already so it won't spoil the surprise for any 'peekers' out there! lol :)

Well, I have to get some stuff done before I head out tonight for crafty night. I'll post my projects tomorrow of what we make tonight.

Floral Thank You

This card took way longer than it should have...with two junior helpers trying to make their own cards at my craft table, as well! It's really not big enough for me and all my stuff... let alone two more sets of arms in the way! lol :) Anyway, they had a lot of fun and I finally got my card done. I'm lovin' this patterned paper from K & Company. I'm still using my favourite colours of blue, but I'm trying to throw in a splash of colour, hense the hint of red. I really like these colours together.

I got my fun-fold card completed last night at 1 in the morning after some figuring of directions...now that I've done one again, they're really very easy, just couldn't get my head wrapped around the directions for a bit..think I was just tired. Anyway, I'll share my card tomorrow night after we swap them out.

Well, we're off to have a family afternoon, have a great day! :)

Asian Thanks and Curled Ribbon Tutorial

I was able to get in some crafty time tonight after I got home from work and finally got to play with my Garden Silhouettes stamp set that I've been wanting to play with for some time now. It reminds me an Asian-looking stamp, so I paired with with a 'thank you' stamp with a font that has an Asian feel to it, as well. I love this Purely Pomegranate colour from SU's 'In Color' ink line, it's such a beautiful, vibrant colour. I decided to go with a monochromatic theme for this one and I quite like how it turned out.

I used my heat tool on the white organdy ribbon to give it a pretty curled effect. You need to be very careful as to not apply too much heat in one area of the ribbon, though, or you'll burn a hole right through the ribbon or it'll just shrivel up basically into a little knotted mess!

I made this simple little tool to help with the curling effect. Just take a regular piece of cardstock and cut a little slit in it, slide it over the ribbon and that way you can control where the heat is being distributed. Simple, but it works! :)

This is how I slide the tool over the knotted ribbon to protect the knot and the other side of the ribbon from excessive heat. It only takes a couple of seconds to heat the ribbon, it will start to curl right away. I start at the tip of the ribbon and move my way into towards the knot until I achieve the desired curled effect. Have fun with it! :) Yeah, I know...I need to get out more! I think I get far too excited over ribbon! lol :)

Supplies:
Stamps: Garden Silhouettes (SU), Greetings Galore (Impression Obsession)

Cardstock: Purely Pomegranate (SU), White (The Paper Company)
Embellishments: White Organdy Ribbon

Tools: Double Rectangle Punch (SU), Cuttlebug, d'Vine Swirls Embossing Folder, Smallest Oval Template and Red Cutting Blade (Creative Memories), Heat Tool, Double-sided tape.

Back in Action

Wow, it's amazing how much I missed my little card making area during the weekend while we were away. I didn't get a chance to play the past couple of nights, as the kiddies were later getting to sleep, and then I thought it was too late to get crafty. Sometimes if I leave it too late to craft, I just end up just messing up what I was attempting and it's a shame to waste good card stock and supplies. lol :)

So, this is the creation that I came up with tonight after my girls went to sleep. Natalia is feeling much better, btw. She hasn't been sick to her stomach since the drive home on Monday, however both girls have been running fevers yesterday and today. Hopefully, it's just their way of fighting off whatever is trying to attack them. That's usually what they do and the next day they're all better. Fingers crossed! :)

In this card I tried a new way, to me, for using ribbon, I kinda like it. I haven't used eyelets in ages, so I pulled out the ol' Silent Setter and added a few. I also used a couple of the patterned papers that I got on the drive home on Monday at the scrapbooking store that I visited in Newcastle, New Brunswick. I thought they were really nice papers, unlike the papers that I normally use, but I really like them. An elegant Jules design...lol :) Yeah, I don't usually talk about myself in the third person, just trying to poke fun at myself! :) What do ya think of this style? I don't know that I really have one style, I tend to jump around to whatever seems to make me happy for the time being. Sometimes happy whimsical cards, sometimes serious, sometimes romantic or elegant, sometimes girly, as long as it includes some pretty paper or cardstock and some great stamps, I guess it doesn't matter, it all makes my day a little happier! How's that for a rant about nothing? lol :)

Thanks for stopping by!
