Happy Father's Day, Dad!

I saw this digi image the other day on The Graphics Fairy and knew I wanted to use it for a Father's Day card for my dad. He likes vintage cars, so I think he'll like this card.  Sorry for the washed out picture, it's hard for me to get a picture with the antique brass studs...I should have waited to get a picture in the morning in natural light to avoid using the flash, but I know I won't have time and I wanted to share a card with you, so here it is!  lol  :)

Here's a bit of better picture, not washed out like the one above, but the studs on this one didn't turn out.

Our girls have also made sweet cards for Jim, but he won't be home from sea until this Thursday, so we'll have to have a late Father's Day celebration for him.

OK, time to call it a day.   I'll try to be back soon with something new to share with you.  Until then...

Thanks for stoppin' by! :)

It's my Birthday today!

This is a dual Birthday / Father's Day card for my Father-in-Law. His birthday and Father's are only two days apart, so it makes sense to make one card for both occasions. I wanted to go with the same general theme as the Father's Day card that I made for my Dad yesterday. But, I didn't have any more chipboard embellishments so I opted to use the chipboard 'D' as a stencil and cut it out. Then, I added some stamped pocket watches to the background. I'm not really happy with my placement of the pocket watches, but I think it'll do...

Today is my 35th birthday! This morning my girls presented me with the cutest cards. :) I'll be opening up my presents tonight and they know I'm a peeker so they informed me not to peek around the house for presents today while they're at school! lol :) My parents are also coming for a visit in a few hours to celebrate. I'm really looking forward to them coming and my mum is bringing lasagna and salad and Turtle cheesecake - Yummy! :) Well, I could continue being crafty, but I have to go finish tidying my house, my parents are arriving soon and time is gonna go by quickly.

Thanks for stoppin' by! :)

Distressed Father's Day

I made this card this morning for my dad for Father's Day. I went with a distressed look for this card and used a couple chipboard embellishments that I've had kicking around for a while now.

I wanted a frame for the chipboard 'D', so a drew out a frame and after a bit of tweaking, I cut it out with my scissors. It's not completely symmetrical, but it'll do! lol :) I distressed around all the edges with some tea dye ink to finish it off.

Well, I have to go get the kids at school and then run to go get Jim at work. I have another couple of cards to make tonight, so stay tuned...

Yellow Caterpillar...

So, I just wasn't happy with my other colouring job of my tractor, so I redid the tractor drawing and coloured it in this time with just yellow instead of the orange, too. I'm much happier with the card now. Just thought I'd share my finished version... lol :)

Caterpillar Tractor Card

My Dad is a 'Caterpillar Man' through and through. He's operated Cats his whole life, owing his on company in land forming, dyke and road building. He's now retired, but he spends a great deal of his time now restoring antique Caterpillar tractors. His garage is full of them and he's happy as can be when he's tinkering with them! So, for a Father's Day card this year, I thought I'd make him a Caterpillar card. I couldn't find a stamp to use, so I drew my own tractor freehand! (Well, by looking at a clipart image online - but I didn't trace it!)

I coloured the tractor in with markers, but I'm not overly happy with my attempt at outlining the tractor and my shading with the orange colour. I'd redo it, but it took me a fair time to draw it and I don't have the time to start over. Anyway, I think Dad will really like it anyway. We'll see on Sunday, I guess, when I drive it down to his place. Hope everyone has a great weekend and all the Dad's out there have a great day!

Happy Father's Day, Jim!

Oh what a sappy morning! :) Alexandria presented Jim with this adorable card (isn't it precious?) and a handmade sailboat paperweight rock that she made in pre-school. She said, "I made this rock cause you're a Sailor!" Ahhh! So sweet. (I might be worried, though, if our Canadian Warships looked like that! lol)

This is the card that I made for Jim. Not quite the emotional response that Alex's card provided, but I think he liked it. :)
Jim's a great Dad, the kids love him dearly. They're so glad that he's home from sea for a bit to spend some quality time together. We love you, Jim! Have a great day! :)
