Happy 14th Birthday, Alysha!

This is the birthday card that I made for my niece, Alysha, who's turning 14 years old on Sunday. Wow, it's hard to believe that she's gonna be 14 already! How time flies, it just seems like not too long ago that she was a little baby. I can still picture her in her little umbrella stroller at my wedding. Such a cutie and she looked just like my brother did when he was a baby. She's grown into such a beautiful girl now and is so smart, just like her Dad (my brother) and has his sense of humour, too. I'm so proud of her and know she's gonna do great in life.

I CASE'd the style of this card off of a card that the very talented, Beate Johns did last year, I think. One of the many 'inspiration' cards that I have on file on my computer. It's a tri-fold style of card. The front flap with the ribbon lifts up and then the butterfly/happy birthday panel folds down to reveal the inside of the card. Blue is her favourite and I figured she might like the style of this card being that it's a bit different. Hope she likes it! :)

Thanks for stoppin' by! :)

Flappy Butterfly Card for WCMD

This is the card that I made yesterday for WCMD...however, I had to finish it for the most part after I got the kiddies off to bed. I find it hard to make cards with the girls and concentrate on my card at the same time. Terrible that I can multitask with a lot of things, but not with cardmaking...that's kinda pathetic, isn't it! lol :) So, I didn't actually finish it until 2:00 AM and by then I was too tired to photograph it and post it here! Gee, I wonder why? Such a fool, I am! lol :)

The reason it took me so long is that I don't actually own the Designer Label punch from SU, for the Blue Bayou layer underneath the 'from me to you'. So I had to create my own - freehand! Not a bad job, if I do say so myself! lol :) After lots of figuring... but, the time probably played a role here, as well! Then, I figured why not challenge myself a bit further and freehand the ivory coloured oval, since I don't own that SU punch, either since the rest of my ovals are the wrong size for this! So, that's why it took me so long to make this card. The little swirlie clip holds the flap closed until you want to open it.

This is the inside view of the first flap of my card.
And, this is the view when you open the inside flap.
I wanted this to be a different style of card to hold a gift certificate that I have for a friend of mine...if I can ever get a chance to get it to her! lol :) Anyway, this way I can tuck it inside and still have room to write in it. I got the inspiration for this card from Beate Johns of the blog, Fresh & Fun.

This is the card of Beate's that I case'd. I couldn't find it in her achives, so I thought I'd share a pic of her original creation that I had in my inspiration folder on my computer. Since she has it watermarked, I figured that was ok.
Well, I need to call it a day, but I'll have more to share tomorrow. We did something pretty fun with the girls today, so stay tuned and you'll find out what we did! :)

Thanks for stoppin' by! :)

RAK from Yvonne

Now that my camera is recharged I was able to get a pic of the beautiful thank you card that Yvonne Balmer made for me that she enclosed with my hostess goodies from the party that I held before we went on vacation. Nice to come home to find goodies waiting for me to play with! lol :)

Here's a view of the inside of the card.
I love the colour combination that she used and what a gorgeous border on the flap of the card. So pretty, gotta find out what she used for that...a Martha Stewart or Fiskars punch, perhaps? Inside the card is a pouch that held a little note for me. Too cute, eh? :) Thanks so much, Yvonne. I really look forward to the group of us all getting together again once I finish the work in my house. Soon, I hope! :)
