New to You Challenge

Our local group of crafty gals are getting together tonight and our challenge this time around is to use a 'new to us' stamp that we got from Kim. At our last crafty night, she passed along some older stamps that she doesn't use anymore and this is one that I got from her. I love butterflies and dragonflies, so I had to take this one. Thanks again, Kim! :)

This is the sketch that I followed from Crazy 4 Challenges:
I'll be sharing the project with you soon that we made tonight. Stay tuned...

Dragonfly Dreams

Wow, what a hot day today. The temp got up to +35 C! It's now 8:25 pm and it's still +29 C inside my house. Yuck!  This is way too hot for my liking and we're supposed to have this heat wave all week here.   I hate to pray for cooler weather but the Fall really is my favourite time of the year. I love the cool days and evenings and the beautiful Fall colours as the leaves change.

Anyway, enough of my rambling. Onto my card. I made this card a while ago, but I wasn't happy with the stamped image as the ink ran a bit. So, I sat it aside and found it last night. The adhesive that I had used was the cheap dollar store double-sided tape and it completely dried out, so I had to put the entire card back together again! This time I changed the sentiment and added the dimensional stamped dragonfly.

Here's a close up of the dragonfly.   I used Peeled Paint Distress Stickles to make him look all shimmery.

This is the sketch that I followed.

Ok, I have to get some more work done that I didn't get done today.   It's just too bloody hot here!

Thanks for stoppin' by! :)

Mojo131 Sketch Challenge

This is a long card that I made for the current Mojo Monday sketch challenge. It measures 8 1/2" x 3 1/2".  I don't normally make long cards, but this was a fun one to make...unfortunately, now I'll need to make an envelop for it, too, since I don't have any envelopes that size.

I have to tell you, I'm absolutely giddy with excitement over this card - I know, that sounds funny and  you're probably thinking, "Well, Julie, why don't you just pat yourself on the back!"  lol  :)  So, I'll explain my excitement.  Tonight, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM we were supposed to turn off the lights in support of Earth Hour.  So, we obeyed the no lights rule and lit some candles instead.  Well, I made this entire card in the dark - by the light of just a few tealights!  I think I did a pretty good job with my matting, don't you think?  lol  :)

Here's the Mojo sketch that I followed:

I also used some gorgeous, double-sided, patterned paper that my friend, Val gave to me.   We each bought paper for the other person and challenged her to use that piece of paper on a card.  A fun challenge and Val was good to me, giving me this gorgeous paper to work with!  :)

Thanks for stoppin' by! :)

Sweet Pea Stamps DT Sketch Challenge

Oh, my goodness, I was so excited to see that Sweet Pea Stamps has started up a new blog called Sweet Pea Stampers and they're looking for a design team for it. This is my submission card. I absolutely love there stamps and would be thrilled to be chosen for their DT.  Fingers crossed for me!  :)  I think this stamp, Poppy Love is my favourite - poppies are my all time favourite flower and she's so beautiful.  These stamps are so much fun to colour in!

Friend Treat Purse

I saw this cute idea over on Kitty Franken's blog for a little Valentine Treat Purse and I thought I'd give one a try. This is the first time I've ever used my scalloped circle Nestabilites to make a decorative edge. You simply feed your cardstock through the Nestie leaving 1/2 of the nestie on top to actually cut and the other 1/2 is left underneath the cardstock, so it doesn't cut anything. Does that make sense? Kit shows the tutorial on her blog, so you can take a peek there if you're like me and need pictures to go by instead! lol :)

Here's a close up of the front of the treat purse.

I decided to fill the inside with candy covered easter eggs...yes, apparently Easter is coming a wee but early this year. I just liked the colour of these and they're so yummy that I thought they'd work great as a little treat.

A close up of the ribbon this time, you know me, I just had to show off the sweet little butterflies in the ribbon! lol :)

Jim got home last night and we've all been having a relaxing day today. We had a nice Valentine's Day, and best of all, we're all feeling much better around here, finally! I don't have to go back to work until next Thursday, so that'll give a good chance to fully get better.

I gave the girls their little Smartie Gift Boxes this morning and they loved them. I'd like to find out where I could buy those little empty containers that cake decorating sprinkles come in. If anyone happens to know, could you let me know, I'd like to have some on hand for future projects. Thanks so much! :)

These are what the containers look like again. They're about 3/4" in diameter and 2 3/4" tall.
