SAL #4 - "Puppy Love" finished!

Hello!
Just thought I'd drop in really quickly and do an update on my attempt at SAL #4 "Puppy Love".

I had intended to finish these little cuties before the end of 2013... but time and tide wait for no man and certainly not for me!  Even though I was stitching right up to midnight on 31st December 2013, I didn't actually put the final back stitch in until a couple of days later.

May I present Margaret Sherry's "Puppy Love"

I really did enjoy stitching these gorgeous puppies and I am a little bit sad to have finished them... but while they may be packed away safe and sound at the moment, I will bring them out in a couple of weeks to do the final finish on them.  Still trying to work out what to do but I suspect they will be made into a hanging for either the craft room or one of the spare rooms.

You may notice that I didn't do all the french knots on the lettering.  While I don't mind french knots normally, trying to do them on the lettering was driving me spare... so I decided that life was short enough without stressing over french knots!  In the end I have only stitched them for the punctuation - I don't think they are missed as the design looks just as nice without them!

I am looking forward to starting the next SAL especially the Spring Bouquet kitty.  Hopefully the lovely Margaret Sherry will have some more gorgeous designs out this year in our favourite mags that we can drool over and stitch.

See you again real soon when I come back to show you all the "making up" that I have been doing on my other SAL's that we have stitched over the last few years.

Hugs

SAL #4 - Puppy Love Complete!

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to pop in and show that I have finally completed my version of the Puppy Love stitch-a-long. I had the stitching done a while ago, and managed to get the piece framed last week. It's now displayed proudly on top of our fireplace in the living room.

Thanks for looking! I can't wait to see what next year's SAL will be!

Another cute dog:)

Hello girls!
While some of us are still waiting for our Halloween exchanges, i want to show you the little dog from SAL#4. As i'm running out of time to do everything that i want till the end of the year, i decided to stitch just the central dog from this SAL.
I still don't know what will be his final, but when i do, i will tell you.
I've enjoyed a lot to stitch this little guy;)

Good stitchings to all of you, girls;)

SAL Puppy Love complete :)

Hello ladies!! :)
I know I have a few emails to reply, I need some free time to update our exchange list status :p I'll do it later today, everyone will get an email reply from me very soon ;)

Right now I want to share with you the reason why I was away from my laptop during the whole weekend :p I did a cros stitching marathon!!! LOL I stitched two puppies on my SAL and..

... it's complete!!! :D
Happy dance!!!! Uhuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu :D

I didn't stitch all french knots, just for punctuation. I was doing the knots and it wasn't looking nice because my french knots are big :p On my cross stitching, I don't have tight stitches and looks like the same goes for my french knots. Mine are not tight and small so it was looking to messy with so many dots close to each other!

I'm very happy with my final work, it needs a pretty frame now :)

SAL #4 Puppy Love

It happened again! I finished one more puppy on our SAL and I forgot to post it here :p Sorry ladies! I've been thinking about our next exchange, I forgot I had this to post too =)

It's amazing how you can't even see the real color on my fabric.. it's water lily, photos really don't show it =/ Oh well, you'll have to visit me at my house and see the real thing ;) hehehehe

SAL # 4 Puppy Love - (Almost!) Complete

We're nearing the end of July so I thought I'd check in and show everyone how my Puppy Love SAL is progressing. I'm pleased to say that I've finished stitching all the puppies I'm going to use in my design:

Next step, I need to stretch the linen and mount it for framing. I found a cute 4 X 10 inch frame on sale over a year ago, and it's been waiting for my Puppy Love every since. So, don't count me as "finished" yet. I still want to get the piece in it's frame and post one more photo of the fully completed project - hopefully sometime in the next couple months!

July 10, 2013

And then there were 3!!!

Halfway there!

Yes, that's right... 3 puppies down, 3 to go!! They are so cute and I have really enjoyed stitching these 3 puppies and I am quite looking forward to stitching the other little puppies... But I am putting them away for a couple of weeks now while I stitch something else.

Looking forward to seeing all the exchange packages as they arrive at their destinations. Well done girls, looks like we have a great success rate for this one.. :)

Til next time, happy stitching

SAL #4 - July update

I reached my goal :D I started my SAL later than I wish I had but I did manage to catch up! Half year is gone and half my puppies are done uhuuuuuuuu!! :D

Now my goal is to stitch another puppy until the end of August, another until the end of October and finally the last one until the end of the year... or maybe sooner! heheheh I'm really in love with these adorable puppies, I want to stitch more!! =) But I have to manage time between other projects too.. So, at least I have a goal for each couple of months, if I do it sooner it's ok too :) eheheh

So only one to go (since I am only doing 4), and lets say Puppy #4 has all its crosses in place as of this morning and only needs the backstitching and french knots.

SAL #4 Puppy Love - I've Started!

I've had an idea in my head for a version of Puppy Love since before Nia announced it as this year's Stitch-A-Long. Finally, on Friday I had some time to sit down and plan the layout for what I want to do.

My layout plan

I'm going to be making just three of the puppies, and I have a lovely 9 X 4 inch frame that I will put them in when I'm done stitching. I've got a fair bit of free time this week so I think the stitching will go pretty fast.

Saturday

I got a good start on my first puppy on Saturday and by Sunday he was nearly done. I'm stitching them at 16 count on a piece of mint green Belfast linen. The colour is much prettier in person, but my camera doesn't seem to be capturing it well.

Sunday
This is my first time making one of Margaret's puppy designs, (I'm more of a cat person) but I'm really loving these little guys. When the picture is finished, it will be a gift for my significant other. Though not a surprise gift, since he's seen me working on it and already asked who it was for!

Thanks for looking everyone!

My first puppy is started!

Hi all! I started my first puppy, as I had told Nia, the beginning of June.  It's coming along nicely, and I am happy to do them each on a separate fabric for gifts.  Happy Stitching to everyone!!  :)

SAL #4 one more done!

So, we should post our updates on the first week of each month, I did that already but.. since I took so long to start my SAL, I'm catching up now and I have a second photo :)
Do you mind if I post another update this month?? :p heheheh

Second puppy is done and I hope to have the chance to stitch one more before the end of June! In case you are wondering about their eyes, I will add beads but just when all my stitching is done ;) I don't like to move the fabric on my q-snap with beads already placed, I prefer to leave that for last.

Hope to have another finished to show you on the 1st week of July! :D

Puppy #1 complete
I am only planning on doing 4 out of 6 puppies, and I am stitching them on separate pieces of evenweave (dyed with fennel).

and here it is again

As you can see one is all stitched up, so three more to go. And the progress on the next:

Puppy #2

Hopefully I will have more to show soon,

Second puppy

My second puppy is ready! I confused with threads a little, I took white other firm, and it was more white, I noticed it already late, decided to leave as is. Well and together.

SAL #4 Puppy Love - June 2013 update

Puppy, where are you puppy?

All of a sudden I appear to have 2 and half puppies!  There was a while there when I thought that I wouldn't get the first puppy finished... and now I am here to show you that I have actually managed to now stitch 2 and a half puppies!

I must admit that I sort of fell out of love with this design last month... but now all of a sudden I am back in love with it and going along at a great rate of knots.

Puppy Love as at 8 June 2013

Fingers crossed the third puppy will be finished very soon... and then we will be onto the next one.

In the meantime though I need to get my needle and thread warmed up and into the next exchange piece!

Til next time, happy stitching everyone!
