Christmas Mini Album 2012

****be warned .... photo heavy post****

I rarely scrap Christmas. I think it's because the photos are usually dark and whilst I love Christmas colours when I get them out to scrap they don't inspire me.

I had bought an old Teresa Collins collection in the sale and decided that if I used it as white + one then it could work for me.....and I am so glad that I did :0)

Here is my rather large mini and a selection of some of the pages!! Once again I have to apologise for the dodgy photos!! I have either got to start using colour or get some proper lighting ;0) !!

I used my Zutter to bind it. The front cover is acetate with a doily and a 3D star that I made and some of the chipboard that came with the colelction

more chipboard

Ali Edwards SVG file, American Crafts arrow stamp
another Ali Edwards cut file that I have attached with washi so it lifts to reveal my journalling.  Hard to see but on the other page is a white heart with a chipboard attached to it

I cut the heart out and attached it to a stick, stamp is my fave MME, opposite page is Ali Edwards stamp and Cosmo Cricket Tiny Alphas

Ali Edwards Stamp and more acetate from the collection

Ali Edwards stamp and arrow cut on Silhouette, American Crafts thank you stamp

MME stamp, Studio Calico veneer heart

Heidi Swapp stamp

another Heidi Swapp stamp from the same set!

'It's Written in the Stars'

G'day! There's another beaut of a challenge over at ScrapFriends (forgive my attempt at an Australian accent!)

This time it's a colour palette challenge....I am really into these at the moment!

I have scrapped another lo of DH in Italy, I am going to have to do some multi photo layouts or use some 4 x 6 pocket pages as there are far too many to go down the traditional route...thing is, I am totally loving doing my 12 x 12s these days :0)

Stamping, Mists, Silhouette and Die Cutting ....aka lots of fiddling about! BPs are Bazzill Fig Swirl and Studio Calico Tiny Chevron. I have stamped the Kaisercraft Number Background stamp in white. The photo has been mounted onto some textured kraft, PP Nantucket and Studio Calico Heyday.

Letters are American Crafts Remarks, the background on the banner is Kaisercraft and the sentiment is an old one, Cosmic Shimmer Chalk Ink, Studio Calico stars

Elle Studio Notes stamp, Teresa Collins star stamp

Here is the challenge and also the sketch that I used from ScrapFriends...told you I would be back for more ;0)

Thanks so much for popping in,

CKC 'Happy Day' and the end of a wonderful month!

Last one for this month......thank you for a wonderful time as the Guest Designer. I have had so much fun :0)

I thought having spent the month sharing the rainbow I would challenge myself to do a neutral layout.....I did try to keep it all neutral but had to dig out a blue mist in the end as it looked a little bit sad and gloomy!! Everything has been inspired by the Studio Calico kit I am still resisting the urge to buy!!!! I have to be strong as have been told that I have to have a dental implant at the princely sum of £2k...that is a lot of paper, LOL.

The photo is years old (I found it in a box at my Mum's) and is of my brothers and two of my cousins when we first got our lovely labrador Cassie circa 1983 :0)

Background paper is Basic Grey Basics, I cut a load of circles on the Silhouette but kept the blade depth quite shallow as I wanted some of the circles to stay attached. Mist is Cosmic Shimmer Chalk in Pastel Blue

Kraft card cut on the Sihouette. People are stamps that were cut out...can you tell the other one is a dog????

Birds and butterflies were cut on the Silhouette - I am using my Silhouette and Cricut so much more since finding CKC blog :0)

Teresa Collins journal stamp and more cutting on the Silhouette (camera)
I do really like this neutral palette but think it would work better with a 'modern' photo as this one is really dark....maybe next time I will scan and fiddle :0)

And so to the end of my June kit and the end of my time as a Guest Designer at CKC. It has been brilliant, I have had so much fun...and here is the evidence to prove it :0)

Thanks for popping in today,

'Being 46' Mini Album

Okay, I am going to write (or at least type) this statement in black and white and then I have to adhere to it or be held accountable....I AM NOT GOING TO BUY ANY MORE PRODUCTS (until I have used up at least 50% of my hoard)

So in the spirit of other bloggers who have a word for 2012, my word is going to be

utilise

u·ti·lize

 [yoot-l-ahyz]  Show IPA
verb (used with object), -lized, -liz·ing.
to put to use; turn to profitable account:

I have found so many chipboard albums in a box under my bed that I had forgotten about plus I have got things in the spare room as well as all the stuff in my craft room (as I know we all have!) but I really have got to rein it in. So, once all my sale items arrive that will be it!!

With this in mind I have made a mini of my last birthday using Teresa Collins Gratitude papers - don't know why I bought them, I am not that keen on orange and we don't celebrate Thanksgiving in the UK!!!  Still it came out ok. The album is a back to back binding (love this style) and as it was all done in an evening there isn't a lot of embellishing.

There are some other pages but to be honest the photos are a bit hit and miss today as the light here is not fab.

Looking forward to showing you more with my long forgotten treasure :0)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week,

Ali x

Album for Amelia

Hi all,

I didn't quite get round to taking a photo of the card I sent but I have made the effort to take photos of the album today, even though it is a very grey day :(

I have had these Teresa Collins 'Bella Girl' papers for a while, they were on sale at http://www.craft-emporium.co.uk/, you should check Lyn's shop and blog out - I always find something! Anyway I have been waiting for the ideal opportunity to come along and when Amelia made her appearance this week I knew that these were the ideal products to use as her Mummy is a real fashionista :0) I have used some other bits and bobs, see the captions.

I wanted this to be an eclectic mix of different layers so most of the pages are different sizes. The album covers measure 7.5" x 6.25". The little pocket book is for Kirstie (Amelia's Mummy) to give to her Mum or to keep in her handbag ro on her desk at work. It has been made from one sheet of 12 x 12 paper, there are tons of tutorials on YouTube.

Hope you like it:

This is a Nellie Snellen die stamped with TPC Studios Clear 'Baby'.

This stamp is from Abi's Crafts 'Journalling and Memories'
Stamped and cut out the pram from TPC Studios Clear 'Baby'

The circle journal stamp is from the same Abi's Craft set as before
Now for the main album:

I cut the felt flowers out with a Sizzix die. The 'Only' frame is a Prima stamp that has been embossed. The chipboard A is from my stash, as are the ribbons.

The chipboard frame is from Teresa Collins 'Timeless' collection. I have stuck it onto acetate and popped a piece of black card in to use as a template. The foldout photomat is from Teresa Collins 'Chic Bebe Girl' collection, as are the tags above.

The folded page is for recording 'firsts' - see below.
These stamps are from my stash - a set from ebay. I can't tell you the manufacturer as I tend to stick all my stamps into ring binders and discard the packaging!

This is an envelope that I added paper to in order to have a flap big enough for a photo. Inside is a mini ribbon bound photo book.
The covers are made with Teresa Collins 'Damask' and inside the pages are just white.

An acetate page with Prima e-line flowers, pearls and a Spellbinders Scalloped Heart Die

I stuck black card to the bracket shape and cut round it, then used the same shape to cut round the pink spotty paper. The stamps are again from my stash, sorry.

My lovely stamp was made by loongchai74 from an Ebay.com store, I love it!
Photo heavy I know, but I wanted you to see it all :0)
