Saved By My Shoes

Yesterday my husband and I attended "Fan Fest" at Panther Stadium in Charlotte North Carolina.

It was an opportunity for the community to come out and view the football roster for 2014 and enjoy the newly renovated B of A stadium.

We walked around all day long. We walked from our parked car 6 city blocks to the stadium. We walked around the interior of the stadium looking for the pro-store and we took the new escalators up to the "nose bleed" seats, then walked down 3 stories of ramps. What saved my feet from so much walking? It was my shoes. They have a slight heel with padded insoles.

What's the best type of shoe for your feet? According to Elisa Kavanagh, foot doctor for the New York City Rockettes, a heel is best--but make it a low heel. Don't wear high heels or flats 24/7. Both are hard on your feet.

"Flats force all of weight to your heels, which can stress your calves and Achilles tendons, and lead to chronic heel pain and tendinitis. Aim for a 1-2 inch heel (the chunkier the better) for greater weight distribution."

The funny thing is, none of my photos really show you my "life saving shoes"! But yes, my shoes saved me! I walked all day and have a fabulous time...bring on football season!

Tights And Peeptoes?

Yes. You can totally wear tights with peep-toe pumps. According to the "style police"...just tuck the seam of the tights under your toes, and slip 'em on.

Tights worn and open-toed shoes are no longer considered a "fashion faux pas". The best part is this allows you to get more mileage out of your wardrobe, because now your peep-toe don't have to wait until spring!

Frigid temps make you want to avoid wearing a pretty dress?

Not anymore when it's perfectly okay to wear your opaque tights with any open-toed shoe!

The REAL question then would be....would you (or do you) wear your winter tights with peep-toes or other open-toed shoes??? I'd love to hear your opinion on this!

Duh! Why Didn't I Think of That???

Is this not a cool tip/idea? For sure warmer weather can make for warmer feet that get smelly in our flats (yuck)!

I'm totally going to give this a try!

Have you done this before? Put dry tea bags into your shoes to remove odors? Success?

If you didn't use tea bags...what did you do to keep the 'stink' problem at bay?

Are shoes your 'thing'?

Shoes are certainly a passion for some women.

According to a survey by Harper’s Bazaar Magazine, one in two women owns more than 30 pairs! That’s a lot of shoes! The survey also suggests that 8% of women own over 100 pairs!

Hmm…this made me look into my own closet. I report in with only 27 pairs of shoes (sounds like I need to go shopping). I do LOVE shoes, but if I don't find a pair that are BOTH comfortable and cute (suit my particular needs and lifestyle) then it's no big deal. Other women I know have a 'thing' for shoes and their shoe collection is 50 pairs or more!

What about you? How many pairs do you own? How many of those do you wear all the time? Do you have a 'thing' for shoes?

So dang cute...I just had to share!

So dang cute...I just had to share! I just purchased a pair of shoes I love, love love!
Since it was such a beautiful day...(see my picture of my backyard below to prove my point) I had to pause and share my shoes with you!

Last week when I was shopping with a client...and I spotted these dandy little gladiators. We were in Nordstrom's shoe department...and I couldn't help but notice a pair of gladiators out on display with both the left & right (not just the ONE shoe sample). Really, c'mon you couldn't help but notice them because they were in a BIG size. Kinda sticking out like a sore thumb. Ah, yes MY size! A size 10 out on display, go figure! Certainly after seeing all the size 6's or 7's out on display...it's really obvious when a size 10 is out! Of course one large pair of shoes on display means it's the LAST PAIR!

I don't normally shop for myself with a client...in fact that's a big "no-no"...it's HER day and it's all about her. However, I've been blessed to have many repeat clients and this was one of them. Since we were waiting on my shoe selection for her to be brought out from the back...I simply tried them on knowing I'd love them. Well, I ended up wearing them ALL day at the mall. It was rather funny, all day long various sales people commented on how "cute" my shoes were and asked where I got them. We had lots of laughs and ended up with lots of wonderful clothes to refresh her closet!Yes, my new "glads" are fabulous and I've worn them a lot since.

My hubby thinks I'm nuts (whose hubby doesn't think that of his wife?) wearing them almost everywhere we go (except the gym..but they might work for that too...). He was nice enough to take these pictures of my "fab" shoes so I could share with you. Actually, he saw me trying to snap a picture of my feet and decided he'd better help out, LOL!

Don't you just love this new tan color for spring...so neutral...and leg legthening! And how about the snazzy way they zip up? Got to love that too! Okay, rant about shoes is over now. Thanks for listening y'all! Feel free to share your fashion "fabs" with me! I love a good story about shoes!

I'm loving these!!!

Look what I just bought!!! And I'm lovin' 'em!!!

I just purchased these online. I think the rounded toe, bright orange color and super-comfy plastic will make my size 10 feet look just "ducky"!!!

Of course my "duck" feet will look great with shorts, but I'm thinking a pencil skirt or flirty summer skirt will be "fab" too!

Do you have any other suggestions of how I can where my bright orange crocs? How about an evening wedding this spring? Looking for more "stylish" suggestions....

It's good being a girl!

It is good to be a girl. However, there are many sayings that would say otherwise...like: "it is a man's world, there is a glass ceiling, women earn only 70 cents on the dollar compared to a man." All of this may still be true. And I've certainly seen plenty of women try to be more man-like--as if it's better or something? Some women try to dress more "manly" (by wearing asexual suits at work w/out feminine details) some women try to be more "manly" in their negotiating ways too. Why be something you're not?

I say it's great being a girl! In fact I say it's better to be a girl...and I'm proud of it.

Now that the weather is warming up, here's how I'm showing off my feminine side...
I'm wearing my Jessica Simpson pink faux croc pumps I purchased last July ($59) at Nordy's Anniversary Sale while in New Jersey traveling on business. It's time to bring them out again and strut my stuff.

Women are special...we get to wear skirts, dresses and a ruffle or two if we want. We also can wear killer heels if we feel like it! Can a man do that?! Hopefully NOT!

While recently at a "Girls Night Out" I enjoyed the saying this on a cocktail napkin:

Yup. Being a girl is great!

If I'm wearing my pink croc pumps this week, how are YOU going to show your "girly" side?
