Cheese Board and Vegetables

I've been quite busy preparing for a miniature show. Here are some new cheese boards and vegetable crates I made in 1:12 scale.

Meat & Cheese

I had the opportunity to make some meat and cheeses (and other grocery items) in 1:3 scale, and I wanted to share some of the photos on my blog!

Figaro's

I need to update you on some new additions to the italian shop. I decided to go with "Figaro's" since it has 2 less letters than Geppetto's :-) Thank you to everyone who voted!

I made the store sign, but unfortunately it will have to be re-done (long story). I am thinking of a darker wood color than the black background. What do you think? I also added a "We are open" sign.

I also put price tags on the olives and fruits. Still need to make some for the cheese and meats.

Since I don't know how to make wine bottles (yet), I made boxes of wine instead. How slick is that? My husband says it's cheating...

I also have bottles of San Pellegrino and Acqua Panna. Do you recognize the silver cans? If not, I don't blame you...those are "illy" coffee tins. Not very happy with them, but at this point, I really don't care.

Last big addition to the shop is fresh pasta! I shooed away the bakery items and installed a pasta rack and a prep table. Still need to make some more...

It looks like this shop will be opening in 2013...at least before the next Winter Olympics... I hope!

Garlic and Pepper

I just wanted to share with you some 1:6 scale garlic and pepper braids I made.

I am so annoyed with my temporary camera. I can't even find the focusing "flower" button :( I guess I will have to bust out my lightbox for better lighting too...

Cheese Display

Although my italian store still needs some finishing touches, one thing for sure is that it has enough cheese in stock!
My favorite is the mozzarella....so simple yet so delicious.

If you are a store owner and need more cheese, you know who to call :)

Italian Shop

I think I'm almost done with the inside of the shop. I just need to add a cash register, lighting, and some cannolis to the dessert section.

I can't wait to finalize the setting and glue it in place. Hopefully that will make it easier to take it to my next miniature show.

This is what my shop looks with the roofing.

A question to all the miniature experts out there: How do I light up a shop this big? I am hoping to use some battery operated lighting that I can just glue to the top. Any ideas?

Fruits and Desserts

I finally made some progress on the "other" side of the shop. I made a veggie/fruit stall and displayed chocolate and pasta on the top shelves.
I also added some vintage posters to the walls.

I still need to make cannolis and add a cash register...but who knows when I'll get to that!

Olive Bar

I made an antipasto bar in my italian shop (more like an olive bar). The clay was very mushy becuase of the warm weather and I'm just glad that I'm done making little olive beads :)
The one on the bottom is a plate of pepperoncini.

I was supposed to make 2 more plates so I could fill the whole display case, but couldn't really think of other antipastos. Maybe sun-dried tomatoes?

View from the window...

Have a great week everyone!

More cheese...

Thank you everyone for the wonderful suggestions! I have 2 windows, so I will be displaying cheese and meat in one, and bread, fruits and desserts in the other.
I still need to make mortadella to add to my meats. Has anyone tried it? I always get the italian sub without it since the color doesn't seem too appetizing...

I also hung some chorizo near the window display. (The shelf on the back looks awfully short! I will have to stack it up with more cheese.)

These are some grapes I made to display in my 2nd window, but look how the colors turned out. The two in the back are from my first batch and the color is very fake compared to the one in the front. So sad!!

Please help me choose my store name. I am thinking of "Geppetto's" or "Figaro's"- which one do you like better?

Italian Deli shop progress...

I have had some progress on my shop after reading many supportive comments! I made a cheese shelf and a ham "hanger" shelf, and also made some italian meats while I was MIA from blogland. Here are some pictures:

prosciutto, salami, capicola, chorizo and a garlic braid

The pictures are horrible- the lighting and the shelves creates so many ugly shadows :(

I am wondering what to display in the display windows.......any suggestions?

Cheese!

Thank God it's almost Friday! So excited for the weekend :) I made some cheese for my italian store (bakery shop turned into a donut shop and now it will become an italian store....for now at least). I wanted to show you how big it is:
I am hoping to fill it up with cheese, ham and some fruits.
