It was a Friday full of energy. Both kids at home and a lot of different ideas on what to do. One wanted to be Spiderman the other wanted to paint her nails. We did both and then decided to have a picnic outside. The sun has been very moody lately so when its finally out you got to grab the opportunity to play in it. It has also been a very windy week so the only place you can go to be free from it is that special sand dune place which is sheltered from all the hard winds coming from the sea.  M was happy to get to try out her sweater that she drew for Mini & Maximus. It arrived the other week and it was fun seeing how proud she was to wear it.

Little brother got to try out the good jumping place and we all got to have a good tumble in the sand. I can't wait until we can actually bring some swim wear and spend a whole afternoon here.

Happy Sunday out there!!

Some photos from the weekend that past. A stop at the fantastic wooden playground (that is more like a massive wooden play fort really). The kids love this playground and it is situated in a big park area so there is very little chance of actually loosing sight of your kids. I use to not like this playground when they were smaller because they would actually get lost inside the wooden fort itself (that is how big it is). But now when the are 3 and 6 its perfect with all it's slides and steps and monkey bars. M has gone crazy for the monkey bars lately. She started out not being able to hang on for very long and she would get so frustrated, but now with a bit of practice she is amazing at the distance she can go, hanging in the air like a little...well monkey!

The weather was amazing on Saturday, it has been a while since you could just wear a t-shirt but D was eager and it was definitely warm enough with a toasty 24C. Today, Monday is another sunny, crisp day and this is when Melbourne is the best. Not too hot, not too cold, just perfect. Definitely a day to go out and enjoy what the weather Gods are dishing out! Hope you all had a lovely weekend and got some chance to enjoy some nice weather!

Last weekend we took a trip up to Diamond Valley to check out their mini railway. The kids were so excited because it was one of those spur of the moment ideas that all of us thought would be a fun day out. Its located a bit outside Melbourne so after a car trip for about 45 minutes we were driving up to the railway grounds. We have never been there before so we didn't know what to expect but it was such a wonderful little place with some really amazing little trains with carriages. The trains were little perfect replicas of the different big train models and the kids were thrilled to be able to go on it. I loved how the train drivers looked like they really enjoyed every ride and you could tell it was something they loved doing.

After a bit of a waiting in line it was finally our turn to hop on. We were in luck and got to go on first which meant we could sit right behind the train engine. The ride was so good, it went over bridges, under tunnels and everywhere you saw happy kids waving from their carriages. It actually packed some punch that train so it went fast in some sections which made the kids shout even louder. Every sign and building was miniature and you felt a bit like a giant sneaking a ride on the roof of a train.

After the train ride we enjoyed some lunch and the kids tried their first Slurpee. There was also a lovely big playground right next to the railway, so the kids played there for the remaining of the day. All in all a great way to spend a Sunday, and definitely worth a visit if you are in the neighborhood.
