New OOAK Tudor Custom Dollhouse For Sale

Today, I'm posting about this house that I was able to build. This is a bashed (edited) Primrose Cottage dollhouse. It's now for sale on eBay.

 ðŸŒ·ðŸŒ· It’s SOLD🌷🌷
Here's the description

Birds & Butterflies are little creatures you'll see peeping around this cute little cottage!

Sometimes, I get so excited about a project when it begins to look like what I saw in my minds eye and this house did not disappoint me. It has been electrified so all of the lights and the outlets work and come on when plugged in (Transformer and lead in wire not included in this auction). The outdoor lamp has pretty red flowers in full bloom with a fluttering butterfly stopping by to taste it's nectar. The flower box under the lower window is also full of flowers.

The roof tiles, stones and brick and even the grassy base are all created using creative paperclay. I hand sculpted and then hand painted each and every shingle, stone & brick various colors to create the realistic & fantastical dream cottage you see pictured right here. Many long hours went into creating this house that can be passed down as a family heirloom

I made the Wisteria Vine with delicate flower blooms and realistic leaves with branches just like a real one does. There are over 100 tiny colorful flower petals scattered across the front of the yard.  The herringbone brick walkway also add some extra eye candy & charm to this cozy cottage. The upper outside Dormer window  was hand created by me and has a cute bird perched there taking in the beauty around it. The upper walls has stucco with exposed brick peeping through. This Cottage is extremely Charming!

Moving on to the insides of this cottage, there has been things added to customize and add a touch "charm". The wood floors upstairs were painted white and the lower level floor has a stone pattern that was hand cut by me (not real stone). The walls are stucco and trimmed in white wood and there is 2 hanging light fixtures and 1 outlet on each floor.

This was a fun house for me to build. The dream house is 1" scale and the measurements are 14" W x 19"H x 14 1/2" D (including the yard).  This house is 1" scale (1" = 1' scale). Here's the link to the eBay auction:

Castle Courtyard Room Box (Dollhouse)

This month, I have completed a few room boxes that I had started on a little while back and it felt so good to finish some of them. Today, I wanted to share pictures of the latest one with you. It is another Courtyard scene and it has me wanting to finally jump into making my Castle tower when I am finished with my last custom order of this year.

It is a 1" scale Castle stone scene and I have embellished the roombox to give the entire piece the elegance I felt it needed. The light by the doorway is from England and is lit by using a 9v battery. There are LED lights and battery pack that I added on the top lid to give the room extra lighting. It is so beautiful to view in a dark room at night.

This is a 1" scale room (1" = 1') and the size of the box is 9 1/2" W x 9"D x 13"H.   The  window and the door was handmade by me and is my own design. The window has a stained glass pattern that I created. The door and the female knights at the doorway were custom created and added to this scene to make it a bit more unique.

The stones are painted an even tone or grays and browns. I call it neutral colored stones so that depending on the lighting, the stones will look all gray or all brown. This item is for sale in my CDHM online store http://www.cdhm.org/user/minisontheedge

Bay Roof Weathered Copper Painting

I added a roof to my front bay window. I decided to make it a copper roof and I wanted it to look nice and "aged" to help give the house more character.

I weathered it by putting on a base coat color of "Sea Mist" by Deco Art. I let it dry then I "Dry Brushed" the second color on which is "Metallic Antique Copper" by Folk Art.

This is the way it looks now that it has been painted

Stone & Brick sculpting completed
Well, I finally finished all of the stone sculpting outside if this house. This house is really a fast & quick build. So far, I have only spent 5.5 hours on it. I added a fireplace in the Living room so I felt I had to have a Chimney. This is something I noticed that I have started to add to all of my houses and if one is missing, the house just does not look complete to me  . This is the picture of what it looks like before the stones and bricks are added.

I also decided to add some texture to my windows so I took some clear "Gallery Glass" and added it on the windows. I am pleased with how it turned out though I am not sure it shows up well in the pictures.

I have added all of the inside lights and outlets so I will start adding the clay on the inside and then add the wood roof shingle the roof and then, I will paint  Sounds like a lot to do bu,t since we are expecting it to rain this weekend, I don't think I will be tempted by the sunshine  since there won't be any ;)  See ya in a few days!

Shingles added

I have added the shingles to this wonderful house. It is so fun to see this project take shape!! The only thing left for me to do is the inside. I have done the Chimney on the outside but I guess I did not take pictures of it ;). I added a widows walk like thingy on the roof I made. I used a plastic iron fence. I cut it down to the size I needed. Of course, I ruined two fences because I cut them wrong the first time around. I was much more careful the next time around  .

Enjoy the pictures! More to come soon!!

Moving Right Along
Well, I spent the past 2 days playing catch up. I should have been complete with this house and I can happily say, it is all downhill from here ;) . All of the paper clay I have to do is DONE and I am quite happy about that :) !

Now, all I have to do is paint. Because this house is so much bigger than I remember last, I do not think I will add a base to this house because it is so much harder to ship the houses when they are larger because the base makes it larger

It's amazing how much the paint adds to the house so don't be afraid, it will come to life as soon as the paint is on. I am letting the new clay added dry a bit before I paint.
I have spent a total of 34 hours on this house so far. The clay is intense ;) I used about 6 1/2 packs of creative paper clay (16 ounces packs  ) Here are the pictures

This is what the Coventry looks like on the Box. So now you can see how many changes I have made to it.
Thank you for following along and read my blog! Hope my tips help encourage you to think outside of the box!

Not a Tower but a Roof?

Over the weekend we were looking at house by the lake. Of course I did not have my camera but I saw a house very similar to the Coventry (Maybe I saw it before which is why the both look so similar now). I have decided to add a roof to the added room that I made where the porch is originally.

I am not sure if this is what I will keep which why I only used foam board for now. If I keep this one I will make the roof parts out of wood and cover the entire house with clay. Please tell me what you think...

Hardwood Floors

I have started on the floors because I felt I had to do something to my poor house. I am so tempted to work on my Rik Pierce Lighthouse from last weeks class (I had a ball the other week meeting my friends from the Greenleaf family in Person for the first time). Of course my Coventry won the battle LOL which is why I am blogging today.

I used the wood siding from greenleaf to create my floors and think I will have stone floors in the entry way and in the kitchen area. These are pictures before I fill the gaps and stain them.

This is up which is angled and meet in the center

Kitchen Stone Floor

I learned this technique about 4 years ago in my first class with Rik Pierce and Sometimes I use it when I am completely out of miniature flooring (like I am now). 1st you take a Vinyl floor tile and cut it to fit the room you wish to install the finished floor in.

Then you should check to be sure it fits good BEFORE you start the next step. Once you are sure it will fit, take the piece out and take your pencil and start drawing where you would want your "grout lines" to be. You can also purchase a copy of Rik's "How too" in Dollhouse Miniatures Magazine 12/05 Issue (can't find my copy right now LOL).

You would then take a straight edge hobby knife to cut the grout lines. Cut each side of your pencil line and then lift up that strip to reveal the "grout" color underneath.

I did the entry way & the Kitchen using this method.
This is the finished product

The Clay Sculpting Has Started

I have started adding the paper clay to the outside of the house. The side wall opens and closes because I decided to add a hinge to it for easy access since I added this extra room. I have not attached the "real" roof that I am going to use and I am still working on it. What worked easy in gator foam is a little more difficult to use in wood (Getting it straight & flush).

Here are the pictures so far

You can see that I added a bay roof on both bays because I thought it would look nice to have a copper roof for the bay window area. I used chipboard to create the parts to make the roofs for the bays.

This is with the side wall opened

Building the Un Haunted Dollhouse Kit Completed!!

26 September 2005
Posted by Minis On The Edge
Shadow Cliff Completed

Well, I have been having so much fun with this house. It is a shame I can't get outside to take some decent pictures of the house since it is still raining and there is a overcast outside B) .

This is the way the UN-Haunted house looks so far.  I "think" I am finished. I added a hand made rose vine to the front of the house and a "mossy" covering around the cave entry way. I added "wisps of smoke" to the chimney pots I made. This was a fast and fun build. I did not use the instructions because I did not like the format. I don't like to read instructions and I found these hard to read for some strange reason LOL. I am known for not reading directions even when I buy stuff from IKEA. My husband makes me put them together cause I almost always throw out instructions (Before we assemble so that is a problem for him LOL)

The house was so simple to put together that the instructions were not needed. Ummmm, I just remembered, I have not put the furniture that came with this kit together yet (Where are those instruction :o:o <_< ). Please enjoy the pictures of what I have done! I can't wait to see what you all do to your kits. Remember, if you can dream it, it can be done!

Here are better and bigger pictures of this finished house:
