Magnolia Dollhouse Build Blog Days 5 - 9

Days 5 - 9 Of "The Maggie"

This house is really a Fast Build. I completed it in 10 days with working on it just a few hours every night. I added the window trim and it really makes this house begin to POP I also added the porch roof and porch trim. I covered the plastic windows so that I could do touch ups to the window frames. I LOVE this house and look forward to making another one soon

These are pictures of the staircase assembly. I used Quick Grip glue because it is paintable

I used the foundation brick sheet that came with the house kit. I put a dirty wash of black paint over it to color the mortar Gray. You can see the difference it can make because the left side has the "dirty wash" & the right side shows the natural way it comes in the kit (which looks to clean to my eyes)

I also decided it was time to add the roof

This house is almost finished in time for Xmas giving. I'll tell you the story about this client I was building this kit for soon. Towards the end of the blog. His story is what kept me working so hard and so late in the early morning hours to have this done in time. It's a True Story about a Grandpa in a VA hospital and the love he had for his Grand daughter......

Lily Dollhouse Build Blog Day 1 Shell & Staircase

Starting The Lily

The kit box picture of this house shows what a beautiful Victorian house this can become. As always, in my minds eye , I saw this house becoming something different. Follow along with my blog and watch how I built this house.

I started construction on this house and I must totally say "hats off" to all of you who have built this house WITHOUT the use of pictures. I am a very visual person (to the point of distraction at times) but I must say, because I have built so many houses of Greenleafs (Plus I read the instructions several times and I had friends pictures that I have seen over the past months) I have not had any real problems in reading and following the instructions so far.

I LOVE the interlock construction of this house. It allows you to dry build the house and really see how the house comes together without worrying about the glue setting in case of a misplacement.

Here are pictures to help you along with following step one

This is the interlocking of the first floor

This is a side way glance of the first floor coming together.

This is step 2 & 3

Putting The Staircase Together

I LOVE the Staircase in this house. The rooms are large enough that you can actually USE the staircase & have lots of room to decorate the room still. I also like the stairs facing away from you once they are in the room. The built in bookcase on the second floor staircase is a PERFECT use of space also.

This is the 1st side & back piece

2nd staircase side and top back added

Now to lay the stairs on the table to add the risers will looks like this

This is the fully assembled 1st floor stair case

Putting The 2nd floor Staircase Together

This is the pictures of the 2nd floor staircase with the bookcase included. I LOVE it!!

I used Quick Grip Glue to assemble this because stairs need to go together fast. Who has time to wait for wood glue to dry while assembling the stairs :) ?

Then You add the back & sides of the bookcase together

After interlocking the bookcase assembly to the 2nd floor stairs, I started adding the risers

These are the staircases put together

Greenleaf Dollhouse Spring Fling 2011 Sneak Peek

It's March 1st which gives us only 19 more days before it's officially time for the Greenleaf Spring Fling Contest kick-off! This year's kit is really going to be something special. Last year's kit had the main garage and then you could upgrade the kit by purchasing the side addition which came with a small porch/deck.

Well, this year's project will come with the main kit plus there will be other items to add on to it. So far (Today to be exact) Dean posted a picture on the official Greenleaf blog of one of the items that can be added to the contest kit.

They are really stepping out this Spring by adding these cool stairs which can be used with the contest house and other houses to add that special look you may be trying to achieve. You can read Dean's official Blog entry by clicking here

Spring is in the air!

Thought Of The Day ~ "When you worry, you go over the same ground endlessly and come out at the same place you started. Thinking makes progress from one place to another; worry remains static. The problem of life is to change worry into thinking and anxiety into creative action." ~

Turbo Fire.... Day 2 (Can't believe I survived day one smile.gif . I am about to push play! Have you done your workout today)?
