Weekends Thrift Finds

Since it was raining all day Saturday there weren't any yard sales.
I went to all the local thrift stores and only got a few things. I didn't take pictures of any of these because most are still in my car. I went in to Goodwill not expecting to find anything but found a few good deals.
I bought one of those puzzle roll up storage mats new in the box. I also found a pasta cookbook for my dad for his pasta machine. As I was standing in line to check out I spotted the best find of all for $7.67

I looked it up online it retails for $69.95. I love clip art. There are 29 Cds included in this set. All the cds are there and in perfect condition. The book has about 1,000 pages and its in great condition.
I got these beads and findings at another thrift store.

Yard Sales & Thrift Store finds

It was a beautiful day for yard sales. There was a 5 family yard sale just a couple of miles from my house. There were hundreds of Barbie dolls still in the boxes scattered all around. I don't think I've ever seen so many Barbies outside of the toy store. I wish I had thought to take a picture (my camera was in my pocket).
I found this paint holder for $3 it holds 80 bottles of paint on each side. I don't have that many but I thought I could put my Gallery Glass paint in it too.

The next yard sale was across town. The couple who owned the house had just sold their home so they were clearing out all the stuff they didn't want to take with them. I spotted this Rubbermaid set of drawers as soon as I hit the driveway.

I went in the garage and spotted this little box sitting under some other stuff. When I uncovered the logo on top I knew I had to buy it. Its the company that my boyfriend has worked at for the past 9 years.

I decided to drive to Hiram to go to the Goodwill store for my weekly fix. On my way there I saw a couple more yard sales that didn't have a whole lot of interesting stuff.
I found a brand new pasta machine out of the box at Goodwill for $8.98.

I bought it but I didn't keep it. I already have one for my polymer clay. My dad asked me to keep a look out for one because he wants to make his own pasta.
I also bought a couple of short sleeve button up shirts for work.
On my way back towards home I stopped by a thrift store that I hadn't been in before. Everything was really cheap there. I found this little ribbon and cross stitch kit that contained all this silk ribbon so I bought it for 50 cents.

I can't wait to go back to that Thrift store again. I didn't get a picture of the little tray table that I bought for $1.50. I'll try to get pictures of all of the rest of my stuff tonight. It was a busy weekend.

Goodwill

I am determined to go to the Goodwill store at least once a week. This week the urge came on Tuesday. After picking up my boyfriends son at tennis practice I decided to drive the 20 miles to the closest one. I was a little disappointed that the craft table I had admired last week had been sold.. but then again I wasn't really willing to spend $50 on it then so maybe it was a good thing. The wood & metal isles still contained the same junk that was there last week and not much new stuff. The plastic isle always has some sort of neat container that I can use for storing minis. I was also looking for plastic lunchroom trays for working on projects in the bedroom. I only found one simple tray for .55 cents. at the far end of the isle I spotted this...

My curiosity always gets the best of me when it comes to containers. I had to open it to see what it was. I was expecting a big empty container but what I found was a plastic sewing basket with 2 removable trays. None of the supplies were included I just forgot to take a picture before I started putting all my sewing stuff inside.
Photobucket
All the little bins had labels molded into the plastic. The empty space on the top tray is meant for buttons but my button collection takes up almost the entire bottom tray.

The color leaves a bit to be desired but at $2.62 it was too good to pass up on. Besides I can always paint it later.
After wondering down the toy isle looking for dollhouse stuff I moved on to the craft/office supply isle. There was a lot of the same junk there too. Then I spotted a grid and thought it might be a cutting mat but it turned out to be a paper cutter. It was covered in packaging tape to prevent injury. It took about 30 minutes of cleaning with Goo Gone to get all the tape residue off but it was worth it.

I've wanted one of these for a while but I'm just too cheap to spend more than $10 on one. At $7.57 it is the most expensive item I've bought at Goodwill so far.. lol
I looked it up online and it retails for almost $40 on Amazon.

I love Goodwill stores

On one of my first trips to the local Goodwill store I found an unopened Real Good Toys General Store Kit in the toy section. They retail for about $53. I got it for $5.65

General Store Kit

Last night I decided to go to the Goodwill store by myself. I haven't been since before Christmas. A friend from work and I had been going at least once a week but things have been crazy around here. I wandered around the store looking for something that spoke to me. I found a pack of strange colored double sided sharpie pens for 99 cents. I was begining to think it was a wasted trip as I walked down the wood and metal knick knack isles. I was drawn to some wooden drawer dividers but they wanted too much for them so I moved on. While checking out the price on a cute wooden box I kept being drawn to some wood boards wrapped in plastic on the bottom shelf in the back. When I turned the package over I discovered it was 5 unopened packs Houseworks MDF 3/8 Inch Lap Siding.

These retail online around $18 a pack.. but look at the price I paid...

$1.51 each I grabbed these up without thinking twice.
I'd like to know who keeps donating all the dollhouse stuff to goodwill so I could meet them.
