she comes by night...

She comes by night, in fearsome flight
in garments black as pitch,
the queen of doom upon her broom,
the wild and wicked witch,
a cackling crone with brittle bones
and desiccated limbs,
two evil eyes with warts and sties
and bags about the rims,

a dangling nose, ten twisted toes
and folds of shrivelled skin,
cracked and chipped and crackled lips
that frame a toothless grin.
She hurtles by, she sweeps the sky
and hurls a piercing screech.
As she swoops past, a spell is cast
on all her curses reach.

Take care to hide when the wild witch rides
to shriek her evil spell.
What she may do with a word or two
is much too grim to tell.

terrific treats...

It's Halloween! It's Halloween!
The moon is full and bright.
And we shall see what can't be seen
On any other night.

Skeletons and ghosts and ghouls
Grinning goblins fighting duels,
Werewolves rising from their tombs
Witches on their magic brooms.

In masks and gowns
we haunt the street
And knock on doors
for trick or treat.

Tonight we are the king and queen
For oh tonight, its Halloween!
-Jack Prelutsky.

Some sweet treat bags using fun Curtsey Boutique bits and bobs.. Great sugary glittered bat and crow cutouts... embossed bags(how cute) and terrific twine in Halloween-y colours.. it's love I tell ya!

Happy Haunting!!

fire burn and cauldron bubble...

 Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the caldron boil and bake;

Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg and howlet's wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Cool it with a baboon's blood,
Then the charm is firm and good.

Boo to you!

october...

If you've been hanging around here for a while, you'll know how much I love Fall, Thanksgiving and Halloween. Generally this time of year puts me in the best moods... its the sunshine, the gentle breezes, that crispness...Today is no exception... the weather is perfect. I wish I could bottle this feeling... the ambiance... just freeze time and savour this day...

Halloween has to be my most favourite holiday other than Christmas. Scary movies, creepy decor... trick-or-treaters... I love it all. Halloween crafts put me in just as good a mood as the weather... I often wonder why Halloween cards aren't as popular. They are a dream to make, and a perfect reason to get to use black paper and orange. Something I rarely do except for this time of year. Skull and cross bones, witches and black cats, pumpkins and bats... add some pretty bows and glitter and sky's the limit for creating...

Another card from my Halloween house box... holding my Halloween treats and what not... Crafty Secrets papers used here again from the Creating with Vintage Halloween CD and the 2013 free printable calendar... I'm loving the orange and blacks..

And before I go:
yes!
I couldn't have said it better...

seasons change...

Summer is taking its time leaving around here. Not that I'm complaining... there are subtle hints of Fall though... and I'm loving that too. Soft breezes with a slight cool in the air... the changing of the searing summer sun to a more gentle glow... leaves turning yellow; soon to give way to those gorgeous oranges, reds and browns I associate with Fall... it's a bitter sweet changing of the seasons... thank goodness my favourite seasons follow each other so closely.

A whirlwind of events to the end of summer... wedding over and done with... family here and now gone all too quickly. Anticipating a few more bonfires with dear friends who have become like family to us... shopping for a new wardrobe full of boots, pretty chunky sweaters and scarves... comfort foods and tasty drinks; home made chai lattes, London fog's with our favourite Earl Grey tea. Another reminder of a dear friend from the west coast.

Savouring the few hot days we have left. Getting to the lake and a quiet retreat to a friend's cabin... such a lovely weekend to recover from the stress of wedding planning and all that comes with it.  Relaxing in our new favourite spot; a backyard deck built with my guy's very able and talented hands... a cozy outdoor living space. A happy puppy to take for walks in the neighbourhood to drink in the changing scenery and season.

Crafty projects reflecting the changing season... a pretty paper pumpkin with Crafty Secrets Vintage Halloween CD... such great printable papers... all used here in varying patterns and colours. Some twine and leaves.. and a small wooden creature to complete the card. This could be used for Thanksgiving or Halloween... your choice.

Thanks for the visit!

summer surrender...

A couple weeks ago we did a road trip out west to see my family..  squeezing out another week or so of summer, as the weather was already turning in the North. Desperate not to surrender my summer days just yet. Travelling through the mountains is one of my most favourite drives. It's natural beauty is awe inspiring. The mountains humble you with their size. The mountains signal that I'm almost home..how I miss being surrounded by them.

Driving at night with only my thoughts and quiet music keeping me company while my guy slept. The stars shining so brightly in the inky blackness of the sky.. the mountain tops a faint outline against the starry background. The big dipper so low I could have reached out and grabbed it. It was a magical feeling. So peaceful. Most definitely a soul refreshing journey.

Now we are fully immersed into one of my most favourite seasons; fall. Today was the quintessential perfect fall day; beautiful sunshine, warm temps, gorgeous yellows, orange and red leaves.. crunchy under our feet as I walked the puppy.. Fall means Halloween movies and fat orange pumpkins. I love all things Halloween inspired.

As I fondly bid goodbye to Summer, I welcome Fall with open arms. My projects of late have been inspired by the season and Halloween. I recently acquired Crafty Secrets Creating with Vintage Halloween images, and all of my projects use digi papers, embellies from this amazing CD.

SOOO many great papers to play with.. these are just a few! I made up a little pocket for my Mr Owl tag.. Gosh how I love that 'Broom parking 5c" sign.. If you can get your hands on the Crafty Secrets CD I highly recommend you do!

I'm off to do some more creating! Happy Thanksgiving weekend to all my fellow Canadians!

My sister brought along 2 pages with her on our vacation; from my mom to me....It was a copy out of a book my mom discovered in her stash.  It's out of the norm...funny, charming and I couldn't resist turning it into a banner to adorn the wall, to be seen as the trick or treater's come by on Halloween night. My zodiac sign is bang on.. how I love little things like these...I just had to include all of the signs...so that you can see the pictures that go along with it...get a little chuckle out of it ( I love that Leo's love glitter..being a witches horoscope and all...) get the grand scheme of it all (it spans about 4 feet of my wall)....
I distress inked the edges of the pictures..as well as the cutout for the lettering at the bottom (each triangle has a letter of the words "the witch's zodiac") in case you were wondering what it spelled out..

Does your witch's zodiac sign represent you? I'd love to know...

Happy Halloween!
