Blue & Yellow Tansy

Every now and then~ something fun to stitch on.
Tansy!
Sharing the yellow that goes with my blue spice jar~
I have had so much fun stitching my yellow blossom heads.
I knew they would be pretty as single buttons~ even if it took me months.
They stitch up quickly!

Sharing little notes on most photographs.
My foundation cloth is heavy weight wool.

Both wool pieces are mottled blue. One dark, one pale.

I arranged & stapled all of the button blossoms at the same time.
The stapled pieces stayed in place nicely.

I like to use #12 weight Valdani threads, variegated.

I save all of my wool scrap bits and pieces...
Perfect way to add variety and texture without the expense
of purchasing many different colors.
You could also purchase a mottled yellow for color variety.

My small thread minder has a magnet stitched inside.
Perfect for keeping track of staples as I slide them out.

Sewline fabric glue stick~
Allowed me to curve and shape my narrow stems!

The tansy in our garden is happily invasive~
Each year the patch moves out 8"-10''
Something later in the summer for bees to enjoy!

Hope your Friday is off to a great start, Friends~
Thank you for stopping by!

~FREE pattern for your personal use~
I thought it would be fun to have a model to share...
(giggle)
It might take me until next March to finish it!
Much easier to cut out the pieces and hint at
what I'm hoping to come up with~

(Right click on the image, save to your computer & print)
Actual size 8.5" x 11"

A creative hug!
Praying you all stay happy, safe and healthy~

Flow Blue Winter wool hooked rug

Finished my Fraktur rug collection with Flow Blue Winter!
Now to button up the punch needle patterns of them~

A winter storm is expected for mid-week.
Spent the morning drawing a new rug & color planning
while catching up on laundry.
Something new for evenings!
I should scoot to the grocery store... when ice is in the forecast
memories of extended power outages surface.

'Blackbird on a Sunny Perch" is the first trio finished~
From my original walnut ink & watercolor sketch to
wool hooked rug and punch needle pattern!
It would be fun to design applique patterns for them...
It would be fun to paint the collection in oils...

Hope your February days are filled with love
and cozy projects!

Thanks so much for stopping by, Friends~

Last day of May~

Hope you had a nice Memorial Day weekend, Friends~
Always grateful to spend time with family and`
remember with respect, those who gave so much.

Lilacs have shared their scent... now the air is filled with honeysuckle!

~Solomon's Seal~
The gardens are filled with blossoms... and weeds.
I grab a handful of weeds every time I take our pup for a walk!
He grabs a mouthful of what I toss aside and shakes them.
He let's them know who's boss!
(giggle)

I have added my first rug hooking pattern to my Etsy shop!
'I Love You to the Moon and Back' is hand drawn on natural linen.

My edges are taped on this pattern~
Will sew them eventually.
Learning as I go!
I took care to keep the lines straight of the grain...
That was my goal for this pattern!

I hope you have a great weekend, Friends~
Welcoming June with bouquets of Dame's Rocket!

Ranunculus Bouquet Punch Needle

'Ranunculus Bouquet' copyright 2018 Michelle L. Palmer

Hope your New Year has been going great, Friends!
We are just getting over the flu~
Our coughs are finally subsiding and stamina is returning.
Do hope you stay healthy!

Took a little break from playing catch up to paint with threads.
Cup of tea and a mound of floss as the winter winds
whip around our 14" of new snow.

We'll get things warming up with springtime pastels!
I purchased several new DMC variegated floss colors~
(Cabin-fever or flu-fever are to blame for my on-line floss purchases)
Hobby Lobby carries some DMC variegated floss.
Michaels craft stores carry a different collection of variegated floss.
I found the new colors from Ancora Crafts Etsy shop.
https://www.etsy.com/shop/AncoraCrafts
Great shop~ packaged nicely and fast shipping.

Variegated colors add a bit of texture to my patterns~
I just love how the flowers turned out in this project.

Wishing you a nice evening and the sweetest dreams~
Thank you for stopping by!

Echinacea~ coneflower applique

Sharing my progress!
I found the prettiest Valdani thread~
#12 pearl cotton
At first I was concerned that it would be too bold.

The colors decided they would play nice together!
I'm glad I chose a brighter, variegated, color for the flowers.
I think I will keep the greens low-key and muted.

I think it would make a beautiful fall jacket for a mouse, too~
Time will tell!

Hope your week is off to a great start, Friends!

Wool applique August Echinacea

August Echinacea is so beautiful~
As it begins to fade & mottle it starts to resemble my watercolor palette!

I purchased a beautiful piece of wool from Kimberley Severns
https://www.etsy.com/shop/NampaFarmgirlCreates
to make my very first wool applique project.

When I saw the wool on-line I thought it would make a pretty hydrangea blossom.
The piece had some deeper tones when it arrived & I immediately thought
Purple coneflowers!

Little friend waking up on the sunny side of the day~

They fill the gardens with beauty starting late June, early July~
Soon they will lose all of their petals and American Goldfinch
will be perched on top of them snacking on seeds!
I will leave them through early frosts & the first few snowfalls.

Swallowtails have been busy this morning...
Too busy to hold still for their portraits~

Wishing you a beautiful day, Sweet Friends~
Thank you for stopping by!

Tuesday, July 25

Summer days~

Summer is dashing right along~
Wish there was a way to slow it down!

Hubby loves red raspberries... we found a few baskets for him and
a basket of black berries!

We have been in a very rainy pattern~
Torrential rains.
The bees need raincoats!

Fun to find this field of black eyed susans along the
New York State Thruway~
The bees were dancing with delight at dusk!

My all-time favorite~ black caps!
Black raspberries are such a treat.
Remind me of my childhood. Riding along field edges in
the back of my dads old pickup truck.
Buckets, tin cans... bellies all filled up with sun-kissed, sweet berries!

I leave milkweed plants to grow in some areas of our gardens~
Pure joy to see monarch butterflies dotting the yard again!

I pluck the seed pods off so I am not overrun by plants...

Juicy snacks~ Plants have had plenty of rain!

Our home & my studio have been upside down most of July~
We are sorting, organizing and painting when we have
a few minutes away from work deadlines.
My plan is to have everything in its place by the
end of July~
August, September & October are my most favorite months of the year.

Hope you're having a great week, Friends!
