Wednesday, November 4

The sun streaming in today.
The trees are glowing, leaves are dressed in brilliant yellow!
Our son has moved into his first apartment~
He is very happy & we're so very excited for him.
His bedroom has become another leg of my studio.

My favorite fabrics, mostly used for slow stitching...
Some patches add a little color & interest to my pinkeeps.
No longer on a top shelve... now they're a tease!
"Stop working for just a few minutes~ sit down & stitch awhile'

I painted the ceiling the same color as the walls~
Convivial yellow by Sherwin Williams.
The room is so cozy!

Next sunny day I'll share another peek~
Hope your November is off to a great start!

Punch needle patterns flow blue & stoneware

'Buttercups & Blue Perch' & 'Springtime in Mumford'
Copyright 2020 Michelle L. Palmer

A person can never have too much blue.
I'm not sure when my love for blue began.
Had to be the delivery room doctor's periwinkle blue scrubs?
(giggle)
Not one of our walls are painted blue.
Our furniture is not blue.
Curtains are not blue.
Cars are not blue.
If we walk through an antique show, thrift shop... auction...
Old blue treasures glow beautiful!
(Some pieces even hop into open arms!)
I'm not the only one to bring broken, singles, mismatched blue home~
Hubby and Alaina have made sure to spoil my heart
with rare pieces.
I treasure every chip, crack & crazing~
It keeps them in my price range!

Chickadees and buttercups~ Spring is just around the corner!
It will be nice to have the windows open again...

Gathered my first salt glazed stoneware piece while in college.
Mumford, NY is the home of Genesee Country Village & Flint Hill Pottery.
The pottery shop is always a favorite in the village~ watching the artisans.
We have gathered a few pieces through the years... small scale masterpieces!

Hope your week is off to a great start!
I don't think we are expecting any winter storms...
Tomorrow is expected to be balmy!
Always a sweet tease that spring is just around the corner~

Thank you for stopping by~

Flow Blue Winter wool hooked rug

Finished my Fraktur rug collection with Flow Blue Winter!
Now to button up the punch needle patterns of them~

A winter storm is expected for mid-week.
Spent the morning drawing a new rug & color planning
while catching up on laundry.
Something new for evenings!
I should scoot to the grocery store... when ice is in the forecast
memories of extended power outages surface.

'Blackbird on a Sunny Perch" is the first trio finished~
From my original walnut ink & watercolor sketch to
wool hooked rug and punch needle pattern!
It would be fun to design applique patterns for them...
It would be fun to paint the collection in oils...

Hope your February days are filled with love
and cozy projects!

Thanks so much for stopping by, Friends~

Wool hooked rug Valentine

Happy Valentine's Day!
I hope your day is filled with sweet, sweet kindnesses~

Flow blue always warms my heart!
This wool heart is on the front of a project bag...
A class I took from Diane Phillips.
Everyone in the class had the same template~
It is always exciting to see how different & beautiful everyone's project is!

The night before the class I decided to make a test piece.
Still new(er) to rug hooking~ I'm never exactly sure how things will come together.
I wanted my color palette to be flow blue because I had
plenty of pre-cut wool strips.
These washy flowers could be made smaller or larger depending
on the bag template. Making a test piece helped me to get
a feel for how much wool would be required, too.

Still have plenty of these wool strips so I hope to
turn my little test piece into a small table runner.

Hope you're staying safe and warm through these winter storms~
Wishing your heart happiness, always!

Calendar pages & watercolor palettes~

My little mushroom brush is just as important as my paint brushes!
Keeps the wool dust, lint, strings...
All that crazy stuff fling around my studio, off my palettes.

I leave my palettes open to air dry~
It may be a few days in between painting.
If I forget to put my palette covers on (always) they get dusty.
I brush out the wells, brush off the little dishes...

I rarely wash my palette...
With a touch of water those messy puddles are perfectly usable!

Calendar time~
As I finish each month, I tack them up. It gives me a little distance
from my paintings. Sometimes they need a little more work.
Sometimes I soften an area...

The wintry months are still to be painted.
I should paint January & February mid-summer, on hot days~
When the winter cold seems like a welcome thought!

Just a few more paintings to go and
Outside My Window for 2020 will be complete.
Each year is a little bit different.
Always filled with my favorite things & feathered friends who visit!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, Friends!
Thank you for stopping by~

Ranunculus Bouquet Punch Needle

'Ranunculus Bouquet' copyright 2018 Michelle L. Palmer

Hope your New Year has been going great, Friends!
We are just getting over the flu~
Our coughs are finally subsiding and stamina is returning.
Do hope you stay healthy!

Took a little break from playing catch up to paint with threads.
Cup of tea and a mound of floss as the winter winds
whip around our 14" of new snow.

We'll get things warming up with springtime pastels!
I purchased several new DMC variegated floss colors~
(Cabin-fever or flu-fever are to blame for my on-line floss purchases)
Hobby Lobby carries some DMC variegated floss.
Michaels craft stores carry a different collection of variegated floss.
I found the new colors from Ancora Crafts Etsy shop.
https://www.etsy.com/shop/AncoraCrafts
Great shop~ packaged nicely and fast shipping.

Variegated colors add a bit of texture to my patterns~
I just love how the flowers turned out in this project.

Wishing you a nice evening and the sweetest dreams~
Thank you for stopping by!

Flow Blue Garden Quilt

I received this beautiful quilt as a gift yesterday~
Opened the box and almost fell over!
Sue Knapp (formerly O'Susannah's Quilt Shop)
O'Susannah's Upstairs Inn
Sent this to me!
Just have to share with you~
It is the first quilt that I own, made from fabrics that I designed!
Flow Blue Garden by Red Rooster Fabrics

Wrapped in love...

Dried up my joyful tears & saw the beautiful variegated
stitches in the shape of birds, butterflies, ladybugs...
I love every sweet detail~

I love quilts but do not machine sew~
I love to design fabrics & it is such an amazing feeling to
see all types of treasures made with those fabrics!

This one will always be treasured~

Summer days~

Summer is dashing right along~
Wish there was a way to slow it down!

Hubby loves red raspberries... we found a few baskets for him and
a basket of black berries!

We have been in a very rainy pattern~
Torrential rains.
The bees need raincoats!

Fun to find this field of black eyed susans along the
New York State Thruway~
The bees were dancing with delight at dusk!

My all-time favorite~ black caps!
Black raspberries are such a treat.
Remind me of my childhood. Riding along field edges in
the back of my dads old pickup truck.
Buckets, tin cans... bellies all filled up with sun-kissed, sweet berries!

I leave milkweed plants to grow in some areas of our gardens~
Pure joy to see monarch butterflies dotting the yard again!

I pluck the seed pods off so I am not overrun by plants...

Juicy snacks~ Plants have had plenty of rain!

Our home & my studio have been upside down most of July~
We are sorting, organizing and painting when we have
a few minutes away from work deadlines.
My plan is to have everything in its place by the
end of July~
August, September & October are my most favorite months of the year.

Hope you're having a great week, Friends!

Hooked rug progress~

Started my second hooked rug while waiting for Loves to arrive
home from college for Easter weekend~

Progress!
Little by little when I can find an hour or two in the evenings~

Strong storms rolled in last night~
While the lightning was on display and the thunder was rocking,
I distracted my self with some flow blue loops!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend, Friends!

Flow blue and yellow bee skep~

These two colors are never far from my palette.
Regardless of what medium I am working in~
they are the perfect color pair to my heart!

The days are getting a bit brighter and longer~
The gardens are starting to call.
Researching seeds and designing a large fenced area for our pup!
I would love a wall filled with cavities for bee skeps~
That one might have to stay on my wish list!

Hope your Saturday is off to a great start, Friends!

Punch Needle Blue Christmas Santa

My heart has experienced many blue Christmas seasons~
You still have hope, joy, love...
You still share gifts and good will...
There is a longing.
Someone is missing and nothing can fill that empty spot.

When a cardinal visits~
all dressed in red,
there is love.
A tender moment when someone we loves comes to mind.

How I LOVE to design, paint, collect, punch, felt etc. etc. flow blue!
No matter how blue I may feel~ it warms my heart!

l hope your Holiday Season is brimming with joy~
Filled with peace~
Touched with love~

Prayers and love to all who have heavy hearts~
You're being thought of and loved.

Flow blue needle minder

Hello, Friends!
I hope your October is off to a great start!

It is no secret that I love flow blue...
Red Rooster Fabrics designed their Flow Blue Garden collection
from my original watercolor paintings!

I have been experimenting with printing my original watercolors
onto fabric... the image stays set~ I hope to make it brighter.

My needle minder is a bit on the large size... 5" x 7"
All hand stitched as I still do not know my way around
a sewing machine~
Added some vintage china buttons!
Perfectly reminders of treasured flow blue spice jars & plate chips!

Two antique lace treasures with blue & white pins~

It is always fun to add pen & ink illustrations to my projects...
Little character!
Pocket saved from one of the kids bluejeans!

Handmade... always from the heart!

Thank you for visiting here~
Wishing your heart every happiness!

Flow Blue Punch Needle Heart

"Flow Blue Valentine" Copyright 2016 Michelle L. Palmer
It had to be blue~
How I LOVE vintage flow blue!
The fourth of my Valentine hearts.
How much fun I have with punch needle!

If you punch and would like the pattern,
I have added it to my Etsy shop with the other three.
A new collection for Springtime is in the works...
I will begin sharing them soon <3 p="">

Wishing your heart happiness~
On Valentine's Day & every day!

Happy Mother's Day~

Windows are open~
Birds are singing!
Just trimmed a very long Lilac branch...
One bouquet for the table & one for the studio!

Wishing you a day filled with love & laughter~
Happy Mother's Day!

Flow Blue Garden fabric!

"Flow Blue Garden"
One of my favorite quilt shops (Watkins Glen, New York) is carrying
my newest fabric collection by Red Rooster Fabrics!

~This collection is in shops now~

This is the panel!

The chickadee pair is also in my 2015 Outside My Window
wall calendar with Legacy Publishing Group!

The sweetest of birds on crazing~

A mixture of herbs, flow blue patterns influence from antique pieces~
Along with favorite feathered friends!

Bits and pieces of inspiration~
Chipped... stained... mismatched & LOVED!

I hope you will share a peek of your projects!
Wishing your heart joy~
