au-then-tic
finished new book. started boy color knitting.
and admiring my new jelly roll.
if you mix Allspice Tapestry and au-then-tic you might just have fabric color perfection. well for me. today's palette posted here made me stop and stare. that's me. and the winners of the jelly roll contest were announced here. love the one called Beach Huts. o.k. no more JR talk.

My First Jelly Roll
well. that's not the whole truth. long ago my sister and i used to make those jam jelly rolls. they were so delicious. and a bit messy. and i won't bake cookies without my insulated jelly roll pan. but my very first fabric jelly roll is on its way to me as we speak. that's right. i won the flower table runner contest. yippee. take a peek here to see the other runners that were made.
hey sis. let's not sew on Friday. i feel like making a sweet jelly roll. just kidding. we really have to sew. but if you find the recipe and put all the ingredients on the counter. pretty please. i promise to get it in the oven before you get back from your appointment.
if she takes the bait maybe i'll show you what we're working on...

420 Postage Stamps
last week i received my winner's package from Betsy of Quilting Fiesta. she's been blogging for one year and i was the lucky recipient of her happiness. thank you Betsy.
2 mags with the best patterns. 2 xmas panels. Nancy Halverson no less. there's 6 stockings on both panels. very cute Mr. Santa. very cute Mrs. Santa. apologies Betsy. not cutting up. not making stockings. always wanted to make a quilt with a panel in the center. trust me. it's beautiful. i'll show you more of it when i start working on it. 1 cute little bird. and then. i opened up the most amazing package of postage stamps. no Pamela Joy. not those kind of stamps. lots & lots of tiny pieces of fabric. always wanted to do this. see here for a PSQ that Betsy finished. she also loves to work with hexagons and cathedral windows. all are on my would-like-to-do list.
i also received a very nice gift from Melanie of Jelly Bean Angel. thank you Melanie. Melanie has promised to show a beautiful angel every day until xmas. this one is my fav so far. her Daily Decembers are quite an advent calendar if you forgot to buy one this year.
i suppose i should share with you some of my xmas sewing. but nothing is finished. so i'll just share what i'm working on today.
i also have a few very nice awards.
this one came from Melanie of Jelly Bean Angel.
thank you Melanie. did she forgot she already gave me this one in October. you just can't have too many.
this one came from Kathy of Creative Urges.
thank you Kathy. her last post is a beautiful distraction which i also enjoy. she's very lucky to only live 3 minutes from the beach.
whatever we are doing right now. it can best be described as busy. so i will not be passing on these awards today. just a reminder that in between the delightful busy-ness of what we are doing. to take a break to rest your thoughts. to rest your hands. and to rest your body.

Oh Yes Baby
i started mending my Knotty Baby with a beautiful paisley print. i think i'm going to go crazy & mend to my heart's content. this didn't boost my confidence for not washing fabrics before sewing. but to be fair that white fabric was more delicate than most & strings were falling off the whole time i was working on it. i should have seen it coming.
& i won a book giveaway from Softdrink of Fizzy Thoughts. hip-hip-HURRAY. i hope this will boost my reading break. for now it's on top of a pile of some books i have started but not finished but still really want to finish. i will get to my "new" book as soon as i finish an old but quick read called The Pilot's Wife. which i probably won't pick up again until i finish mending those bad spots on my quilt.
Softdrink has posted about another book giveaway which can be found on Peeking Between The Pages. the book is called Broken and it sounds like an interesting read. if you're looking for your next book. or some funny stories from those that read every day. you should check them out. this is Softdrink. and this is Dar.
