MCF Scrapbook Challenge

Evening everyone.  I've been busy crafting this afternoon and wanted to share it with you.  I love joining in a few of the forums out there and today I set our second scrapbook challenge over on the Magical Crafts Forum.  I used a page map from PageMaps .

I've also set an additional theme.  As this is the month for lurve, I wanted to see "Something you Love!" .  This could be ANYTHING - a fav photo, a place, clothing, shoes, friends, pets, wildlife OR use a favourite technique, embellie or even colour!  Anything - as long as yer love it!!  This is what I came up with....

This is a photo of Emily and her best friend, as bridesmaids at our wedding!  I have wanted to scrap this for as long as I can remember, their little faces do make me laugh!  I would love to know what they're thinking...probably something like, "what DOES she look like!!" or, "what on EARTH is he wearing!!" LOL!

I love the burgundy and gold combi, as you can see from their dresses AND, of course, I love my poems and quotes!!  The journalling reads,
"It is rare that one can see in a little boy, the promise of a man, but one can almost always see, in a little girl, the threat of a woman!"

The quote is from some French fellow called Alexandre Dumas Pere, a French writer.  His middle name made me laugh too, or is that just me! LOL!

They're a wonderfully friendly lot over on MCF and have loads of challenges and swaps going on, from cards and scrapbooking to ATC's, tags, altered books and sewing.  There really is something for everyone so if you have time, why not take a wander over, we'd love to see you!!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you like my page.  If you do have a go at this challenge, even if you don't join MCF, please come back here and let me know so I can come to your blog and see your make, I'd love to see anything you come up with if you have a go!!

Take care and happy crafting everyone.

Christmas Scrapbook 2009

Morning everybody. It's well nippy here, there's even a ground frost. Have whacked the fire and the heating on this morning! Hope your all well and looking forward to the weekend. I'm collecting the motor from the garage today with Mr Blogger who's home for just one day!! The heaters all fixed so the car should get lovely and toasty on my early morning starts!!

My early New Year Resolution as you may know is to crack on and catch up with scrapping my photos. I just don't seem to have the time most of the time!! Well, this year I have a cunning plan. I bought an 8x8 chipboard album by Papermania and plan to scrap as Christmas rolls along this year!! I've already covered both the front and back covers. Here's the end result for the cover...

I've had a book of papers for at least two years and didn't want to cut them up cos I liked the too much (sad I know) . But I've set to and used it for the album. Each page inside has been covered with initial background paper from Hot of the Press Christmas Pack and the scraps I've stashed safely for later. All they need are photos and embellies! So within hours of the tree going up - I can have it scrapped. I plan to continue like this and cover all our Christmas activities and get togethers this year. Gosh I've never been so organised!

My two have already started their Christmas lists and they revisit them every other day just about, LOL!!! I have scrapped this as a double page LO using the inside cover and first page. I have a little container full of Xmas stickers, scraps of paper and things I've collected over the last few years and have now begun to put them to good use! I also enjoy using stamps on my LOs.

I love the 2nd part of the layout. At this point I was entertained by their conversation. They were oblivious to my presence and their discussion revolved around whether or not Ethan has been good enough NOT to be placed on the naughty list this year!!! He rounded it off by saying he would tell Santa that he had never been naughty on purpose or without good reason!! The letter and angels are stamps. The halo has slipped on the angel alongside the letter, appropriate I thought!! The angel in the bottom corner is placed on an envelope. When their final draft is complete, I plan to place inside a Wishlist Top Ten for each of them to look back on in years to come!

I hope you like it so far. Sorry for the picture quality, I couldn't get the exposure right!.

Please feel free to leave a post! Happy crafting and enjoy your day!

Rosie D's Challenge Blog

Rosie D is a new challenge for me and I really wanted to do a scrapbook page for it. However, my photographs are inaccessible to me until Mr Blogger gets home Friday to sort it all out. So, I've decided to enter a LO from MIL's heritage album I did for her. This is a photograph at her wedding in 1952. I used a cream background paper (can't remember whose) and picked out some of the wording with a black Marvy Le Plume pen. The photograph was matted on to both black and chocolate cardstock. The ribbon, for me, is the little cherry on top. Both it and the heart embellishment were from my stash. The ribbon slide is from Making Memories. The leaves of brides corsege were subtley tinted green in photoshop though that won't show up in the photograph. The quote was done in Word and reads, "Life gives us brief moments with another.....but sometimes in those brief moments we get memories that last a lifetime". Anon

Many thanks for stopping by. I'm back at work tomorrow but hope hope you all have a great day whatever you're doing!!

DADDY'S GIRL 1

Good afternoon all, hope you're all enjoying your Wednesday. I'm feeling a bit nostalgic today as it's Emmy's birthday!! I can't believe she's nine! I wanted to share with you two of my favourite layouts with my most treasured photos of her. They were taken in summer 2005. Peter had just returned to work after being a house husband for a few years. Emmy was still adjusting to him working away from home! These photos pick up the joy in her eyes on his return. I can't remember where the papers came from, the butterfly was a stamped image. I added an apt poem to the layout (I warned you I love using em!), I think it was anonymous but I found it in, "Creating Keepsakes, Scrapbook Tips and Techniques". The poem reads,

"A Daddy and his Daughter,
together hand in hand,
though he isn't always with her,
she says, she understands,

When he's away at work or play,
the memory of him lingers,
the little girl smiles because, she knows,
he's wrapped around her fingers,

A tilt of her head, a smile, a lowered glance,
a hug and a kiss and a, 'Daddy pleeease,'
he doesn't stand a chance,

In later years he will recall,
with tenderness and love,
this charming girl, with hands in his,
a blessing from above" .

First Scrapbook Page

A couple a years ago, stuck for what to give my MIL for Xmas, I decided upon a heritage scrapbook. She had a lot of old photographs loose in a carrier bag!! I managed to con her into letting me borrow them. They were all scanned into the computer after which, I was in charge of design and hubby - the computer wizardry!! This was the very first page in the book and the photo started as an A3 canvas with half the baby's face missing. We had to scan it in six different parts then hubby had the unenviable job of piecing it together, downsizing it and fixing baby! I was also in charge of surreptiously obtaining info from MIL about the photos. (Talk about mission impossible - ah but I was good - definetely my own mothers daughter!!). The papers are actually wallpaper samples. It was my first layout and I thank Mr Blogger for his support then and his 'blind eye' when I go craft shopping! Bless him!!!
