Could've Sworn I Saw A Fairy...

AND she was holding one red shoe!

AND I saw her pushing around her little baby doll whom she apparently adores!

Yes MissL, have a look up there, I reckon that's where she went to collect MissM's tooth!

The Zoo in the Desert

Yesterday I drove my parents and MissM and MissL, across the desert to Al Ain (about a 75 minute 120km/hr driving trek from where we live). Our destination was the Al Ain Wildlife Park & Resort. The last time MrL and I took the girls, the heat was pretty unbearable, but yesterday the weather was lovely and very comfortable.

Whilst there, we saw a lot of this...

(Grandad taking lots & lots of photos)

We also spied a lot of this....

(Two sisters walking hand in hand)

We spied a Giraffe who was just as interested in us as we were of him...

MissM and I were taken in by this lovely mosiac outside the Reptile House...

We saw a reasonably quiet just-about-15-months-old little girl who if wasn't eating or smiling, was looking a little glum (and suddenly her face looks soooo square!)....

And for a moment we forgot where we were.

(Emus in the UAE desert!)

It's a pretty good zoo all up and for all of us to enter was 50 dirham (ummm, around $14aud!). I just recommend taking your own picnic lunch (let me just say that the KFC on ground didn't quite live up to expectation) and plenty of water. The souvenirs were a plenty too, considering last time we went there weren't any to purchase. (The girls were lucky enough to get a cute stuffed animal each and myself a cap bought by Mum and Dad.)

A good day out all up. The wine last night was well deserved. =)

Number 5

We had to invite someone very special to our place last night.

We had a special little bag for this special little person as a biglittle gift was inside in a little pocket.

This morning MissM, whose 5th tooth was hidden in the pocket in the little bag, found 20 dirham in place of the tooth.

It was a big tooth she lost, after all.

(And as MissM lost her 5th tooth, MissL cut her 13th tooth!)

Boo!

Someone's been playing 'Peek-a-boo' around here and it's not me (for a change).

Too Cute Not To Share

I must have dozens (hundreds) of pics like that of MissL. I swear she's getting cuter and funnier by the day. At just about 15 months old, I truly find her truly irresistible. And I know I'm not the only one....

Stop. Start. Stop. Start(ing again)

What am I like - not blogging for yonks and then blogging and then not! I have, of course been busy and our old MacBook was not going too well and I have had three VIPs visiting - you get the picture.

My parents arrived a fortnight ago now, after a 14 hour flight from Melbourne. They thought the flight was 'the pants' as they were upgraded to Business Class on Etihad for the flight over here to Abu Dhabi. It took my mum a week to stop gushing about the flight. I pity her friends back home as they'll have to listen to have fabulous it was...lol...

Many weeks back it was organised that my sister was going to come over for a 'surprise' visit from London, enroute to China, whilst my parents were here. I must say MissM is fantastic keeping secrets, not a word was uttered about 'Auntie Kimbofo' coming for a visit. At the last minute MissM and I had to tell my parents as my sister's Dubai flight was delayed by 90 minutes and MrL got lost coming home to Abu Dhabi. They didn't walk in the door until after midnight last Tuesday evening. If MissM and I hadn't said anything they would've gone to bed hours beforehand.

With all the excitement of visitors we have had to get a new computer. Our old one (which is 4 years old) was starting to play up with the mouse pad. With easy justification, MrL went out and bought a new MacBook Pro. If you don't have one of those and are after a new laptop, you'd be mad to buy anything else. We thought our old MacBook was the pants, we were wrong. Our new computer IS the pants. So easy to use, minimal set up, I should go and work for Apple. (My dad too bought over the new 'teeny weeny' Apple TV for us - this allows all our stuff - photos, music, videos, rental movies, our dvds to be shown through our television - it's fabulous!)

The folks are here for another week. It'll be sad when they go but at least life will then go back to normal.

Pumpkins

Can you remember last years Halloween photo? MissM was 5 and was dressed as a 'Fairy Witch'. MissL was a Baby Bunny at just 8 weeks old.

This year was different. Kinda. MissM is now a big 6 year old, MissL is a week shy of 14 months.

This year both girls dressed as 'Pumpkin Fairies'. Well I think that's what they were.

There was much anticipation for the evening, especially by MissM. Dinner was fed early, baths were done and dusted by 5pm and costumes put on.

MissM helped MissL get her costume all ready with last minute preparations in head gear....

And then we set off, but MissL wasn't still too sure, judging by the weird look on her face in this photo below....

We live in a big compound and everyone participating in the festivities were to meet in the park for a parade. That's when MissL discovered a disliking for masks (talk about scream and talk about everyone look at me!) There were lots of Superheroes, Zombies, Fairies, Witches, Pumpkins, Harry Potters, people with axes through their heads, swords skewered in bodies etc., Some people go to a lot of trouble but it is fabulous to see.

Some friends of ours volunteered to take MissM 'Trick or Treating' through the compound which saved me from taking MissL who was not going to let go of me, let alone be put back in her stroller! Instead I sat with the baby and a neighbour opposite where we gave out the treats.

It was a great evening - lots of smiles, laughter and meeting strangers.

MissM had a fantastic time - she even collected 'candy' for her little sister on her behalf, in MissL's little Halloween bag. (I'm sure I'll enjoy that!) MissM came home with her plastic pumpkin overflowing with goodies - she counted them all, 122 pieces!

Even though in Australia we don't celebrate Halloween (but I hear it is beginning to make waves back there) I'm glad that we live in a country that does. It is a good experience for MissM and she'll hold onto these memories, hopefully, for ever.
