Meme tagged!

Yes, Animewookie from My Gallery of Worlds has tagged me in a meme and since I had a space available and I was procrastinating from something I should have been doing *snicker* I thought it might be fun to do!

Rules:
1. Answer the eleven questions that were asked of you by the person who tagged you
2. Make up eleven new questions and tag eleven new people to do the meme!
3. Let them know you tagged them!

My questions:
1. If you could describe your life in a color, what would it be and why?
I'd say midnight blue because it is mysterious. Oh wait... that is what I wish it could be... other than beige. Too boring. LOL

2. Do you have any pets? If so, what are they, their name/s and why do they fit your personality?
I have 2 dogs currently. One is a total goof and is the doberman. My alaskan malamute loves to be the audience to the doberman's goofyness. She also likes ruling the doberman. Although that sounds appealing... I think I'm probably more like my dobe. LOL

3. Where did you fit in in high school...jock, band geek, popular crowd...etc?
Seriously? I don't know. I had a lot of different friends. Many didn't even know I was friends with others. It wasn't anything strange or dramatic... it was just that they didn't have things in common with the other and so didn't hang out. I pretty much would hang with anyone and had fun.

4.How do you react in an emergency...fight or flight, go get help, the calm one???
Depends on the situation. Usually fight or calm.

5. If they were making a movie of your life, who would you chose to play you... why?
Angelina Jolie. Why? Who wouldn't want to look like that even in fantasy? LOL

6. Why is your best friend your best friend, what makes them so special?
She was someone I could talk to about things I couldn't normally with anyone else. I hope she felt the same. I miss her and I consider her a true angel now. :)

7. If money was no object, and you were going to buy yourself soothing completely frivolous, what would it be, and why?
No object? A vacation!

7. Three words that describe your personality?
Passionate, Goofy, and Strange... and loving that this is #7 twice. ;D

8. Who was your favorite teacher and how did they influence you?
Oh I had several. Most were in grade school. Usually it was just the encouragement in learning on your own and being creative with it.

9. What do you consider true strength?
Well, it has nothing to do with exercise weights. I say if you grunt when you pick it up... put it down!

10. What is your favorite game? (video, board, card...any kind)
Don't have a fave at the moment, but I loved Plants Vs. Zombies for a while. :)

11.What season do you love the most, why?
Depends. I love all the seasons for different reasons. Yes, even the dead of winter has it's promise when it is silent and calm.

Now I saw Blodeuedd do this one and didn't tag anyone. I think I'll do the same since schedules are so tight and many don't do awards (which this is like). So, I'm not tagging anyone but would LOVE to see how you answer the following (please let me know if you do it so I can see it):

1. If you had written a book of your life, what would be the title.
2. In the vein of a 6 word story... tell me about yourself.
3. Who would be your top choices in your book boyfriend harem?
4. Which character in a book would you like to be?
5. Which character in a book are you most like?
6. Do you have pets? Tell us about them?
7. Would you like to have a mythological pet? What would it be?
8. If you had a superpower, what would it be?
9. If you could dump a heroine in a book and take her place, what book and who would that be?
10. What is at the top of your bucket list?
11. What do you want most in your life right at this moment?

Have fun! You can even answer a few in the comments if you wish. :)

Fun/Weird Things in the 'Net...

You know the scenario... you are using your ereader wondering what is missing. Suddenly it occurs to you! You miss the smell of the book right in front of you! The old nose just isn't picking up what is needed to completely enjoy the book sensation. That is why someone created... Smell of Books!

Their blurb:
Does your Kindle leave you feeling like there’s something missing from your reading experience?
Have you been avoiding e-books because they just don’t smell right?
If you’ve been hesitant to jump on the e-book bandwagon, you’re not alone. Book lovers everywhere have resisted digital books because they still don’t compare to the experience of reading a good old fashioned paper book.

But all of that is changing thanks to Smell of Books™, a revolutionary new aerosol e-book enhancer.
Now you can finally enjoy reading e-books without giving up the smell you love so much. With Smell of Books™ you can have the best of both worlds, the convenience of an e-book and the smell of your favorite paper book.
Smell of Books™ is compatible with a wide range of e-reading devices and e-book formats and is 100% DRM-compatible. Whether you read your e-books on a Kindle or an iPhone using Stanza, Smell of Books™ will bring back that real book smell you miss so much.
It also comes in several "aromas":
At least they are concerned for your safety. Just check out the warning page:

Warnings and Legal Disclaimers

Not for use on “real” books. Do not use while riding public transportation. Discard empty container with hazardous waste. Not for use as a room deodorizer. Not for use on burning books. Do not use on a Zune.
I don't know about you, but if you have a Zune, you are in trouble anyway... ;)

Also... for those not feeling VD that is coming up (thought you might like my little acronym for the day... lol) but are still feeling crafty... I give you:
Poor wittle guy. Anyway, if you do embroidery or knows someone with a machine, get this guy at Urban Threads. At least it will make you smile. ;)
...and one last fun item...

...and last, but most certainly not least I won a few awards...
First is an award I had received before from the sweet Tribute Books Momma
Since I had received this I will not pass it on, but I did want to recognize it!
Second... I received:
The sweet Blodeuedd gave this one to me. Her blog is The Book Girl from Mur-y-Castell
This is what this award means:

Congratulations, you’ve won the honor of being Worth Your Weight in a ‘Gator Battle!

The award was created in honor of (at least according to them) the real stars from “Alien Tango”. No, not Katherine “Kitty” Katt or Jeff Martini. Alliflash and Gigantagator, Alligators Extraordinaire!

The “Worth Your Weight in a ‘Gator Battle Award” is only given to the wily, the brave, and the cheeky, so get down with your bad self, you’re deemed worthy to run with the A-C’s!

Now you get to spread the awesome by nominating other bloggers who would also be worth their weight in a ‘gator battle. Battling ‘gators is not for sissies or wimps -- only the strong survive -- so choose wisely!

Your mission details:
  1. Slap the graphic on your blog post.
  2. Give link props to the person who gave you the award (don’t rile a ‘gator fighter -- it’s dangerous).
  3. Spread the awesome and nominate five (5) other bloggers who you think will be worth their weight in a ‘gator battle.
  4. Let the recipients know they’ve won this honor on their blogs.
  5. Last but not least, shoot Gini Koch an email at gini@ginikoch.com and let her know you’re worthy of running with the A-C’s (put “Worth My Weight” in the subject line!) by sharing that you’ve been nominated and telling her which other bloggers you nominated, and she’ll enter you into the “Worth Your Weight” Contest. Keep reading to find out more details and what the loot is below.

Of course, you can choose to ignore your awesomeness, but then you’ll never have a chance to nab your own A-C or win the loot. And you know you want both.

Contest runs from Wednesday, February 1, 2011 through Monday, February 28, 2011.

Details are found on Gini Koch's site HERE

My nominations:
Stephanie from the Misfit Salon
Missie from the Unread Reader
Jenny from the Supernatural Snark

Award!

Here is what is what they've asked after receiving this Award:

1.Thank and link back to the person that gave this award.

2.Answer the following 10 survey questions mentioned below.
3.Pass it on to another 15 Blogs that are fairly new and interesting to you.

4.Contact the bloggers so they know they've been chosen.

This is a great refreshing idea that will be useful and fun for blogs mentioned and blogs just beginning. The questions are a neat way to find out more about fellow blogs as well discover other likes and dislikes. So without further adieu... let's continue with this ongoing extravaganza!

I received this award from Meghan from Midnight Fume. It's a great new blog. Go visit and sign up.

1. If you blog anonymously are you happy doing it that way; if you are not anonymous do you wish you had started out anonymously so you could be anonymous now?

Anona-who? I'm partially anonymous. First name, but don't have my last name in my posts. I might have chosen a specific blogger type anonoymous name, but I'd never recognize it. :P

2. Describe one incident that shows your inner stubborn side:

No! I refuse to answer this on the grounds... oh wait. Hey! There you go! ;)

3. What do you see when you really look at yourself in the mirror?

Um... me? I mean this isn't that mirror in The Neverending Story, is it? O.o

4. What is your favorite summer cold drink?

Probably fresh lemonade. Yum. *smacks lips*

5.When you take time for yourself, what do you do?

Depends. Listen to music, sleep, play with the dogs, do something spa-like at home. Stuff like that.

6. Is there something you still want to accomplish in your life? What is it?

World Peace.

7. When you attended school, were you the class clown, the class overachiever , the shy person, or always ditching?

Depends on who you ask. Seriously. lol Probably most would say shy overachiever.

8. If you close your eyes and want to visualize a very poignant moment of your life what would you see?

The back of my eyelids. ;) Okay, fine... a smile on my face. :) Although if you consider it... why would I be able to see myself unless I was staring into that Neverending Story mirror? :-/

9. Is it easy for you to share your true self in your blog or are you more comfortable writing posts about other people or events?

It's not obvious? I'm a snarky shy overachiever! :P

Good and Bad News

First with the good news... I won an award from Terra on the Bookshelf! I wanted to give this award to those I haven’t yet, but I haven’t had a lot of time to do that in a through way. So, forgive me for not passing this one on at this time. I did want to acknowledge it however.

Now to the bad news. Colorado residents are no longer Amazon Associates. This is the letter I received:

Dear Colorado-based Amazon Associate:

We are writing from the Amazon Associates Program to inform you that the Colorado government recently enacted a law to impose sales tax regulations on online retailers. The regulations are burdensome and no other state has similar rules. The new regulations do not require online retailers to collect sales tax. Instead, they are clearly intended to increase the compliance burden to a point where online retailers will be induced to "voluntarily" collect Colorado sales tax -- a course we won't take.

We and many others strongly opposed this legislation, known as HB 10-1193, but it was enacted anyway. Regrettably, as a result of the new law, we have decided to stop advertising through Associates based in Colorado. We plan to continue to sell to Colorado residents, however, and will advertise through other channels, including through Associates based in other states.

There is a right way for Colorado to pursue its revenue goals, but this new law is a wrong way. As we repeatedly communicated to Colorado legislators, including those who sponsored and supported the new law, we are not opposed to collecting sales tax within a constitutionally-permissible system applied even-handedly. The US Supreme Court has defined what would be constitutional, and if Colorado would repeal the current law or follow the constitutional approach to collection, we would welcome the opportunity to reinstate Colorado-based Associates.

You may express your views of Colorado's new law to members of the General Assembly and to Governor Ritter, who signed the bill.

Your Associates account has been closed as of March 8, 2010, and we will no longer pay advertising fees for customers you refer to Amazon.com after that date. Please be assured that all qualifying advertising fees earned prior to March 8, 2010, will be processed and paid in accordance with our regular payment schedule. Based on your account closure date of March 8, any final payments will be paid by May 31, 2010.

We have enjoyed working with you and other Colorado-based participants in the Amazon Associates Program, and wish you all the best in your future.

Best Regards,
The Amazon Associates Team

Now, this is a bad law and I do believe if it isn’t repealed, it may lead to law-suits. My question is why am I being punished for a very bad law? Any income (which I had not made in any form yet) would be considered income and taxed that way. This would have no major impact on me unless I personally buy from Amazon. Does Amazon think I only sell to Coloradans? So what if I do? They state that they do not refuse to sell to Coloradans. The only one affecting me through the Associate program IS Amazon. You hate what my legislature does, then let it be known. You have the resources without punishing people it already hurts. Sorry Amazon, but you are putting the Ass in Associate with this policy.

Thanks for the soap box. I now return you to your regularly scheduled book reviews.
