More mixed media experimentation!

Happy weekend everyone!  I'm here today to show you how my experimenting with a more mixed media style using Quixotic Paperie goodies is getting on!  If you're familiar with my usual style you'll know I'm more of a clean lines, cutesy card maker so this new style is hard for me!  So, I'm just getting my inks, materials, tools, etc out without having any particular design in mind (otherwise it will lean to my usual style!) and see what magic happens!  And here's what "happened" to me today...

So, what d'ya think?!  I doubt if I will ever get this mixed media style right but I think I'm finding my own style within the style - if that makes sense!  I didn't take me long to make either - it sort of all fell into place.  I loved using the Authentique Splendid pad along with the exciting new Susana Loves Stamps Blank Canvas Women stamp set and the Whimsy Friendship Ticket Sentiments Set

That's it from me this week, see you tomorrow with something exciting happening at MilkCoffee Stamps and my next Whimsie Doodles guest artist spot - it's gonna be a busy day!

SCACD Susana Loves Stamps new release blog hop!

Hi all!  I have something a little different for you today - not my usual style!   Susana Loves Stamps release from SCACD has a new style - mixed media!  And to showcase this gorgeous release, we are having a blog hop!  So, never having done mixed media before, I thought I'd go all out and see what I could create without any particular design or plan - very scary for me!  Here is what I came up...

I'm quite pleased with it although I think more practice is required to be comfortable with this messy style!  This beautiful lady is called Profiles from the "The Blank Canvas Collection" set and the sentiment is from the Self Words set.  I also used the new gorgeous corner dies.  I found this this type of creating quite liberating, although my craftroom needs a clean up now!  The paper is from the Glitz Design French Kiss pad and I used VersaMagic Brilliance ink to create the toned effect.  In real life she really shimmers!  Here's a closer look at the gorgeous detail of this stamp and the corner die...

You can see the new dies in the Quixotic Paperie shop here and the Susana Loves Stamps section at Quixotic Paperie shop here.  For US/Canada readers, the new stamps and die collection are available from the SCACD store.

Wanna see more gorgeous mixed media art?  If so, join the hop!  If you're already on the hop, you should have arrived here from the lovely Lori and you now need to hop off to gorgeous Crystal!  If you want to start from the beginning, go to sweet Danni's!
And before I go, Elaine is celebrating the Jubilee weekend in style for you in the Quixotic Paperie shop!  Starting from today, there is 10% off storewide and goes through to midnight on Tuesday!

Okay, that is it from me now!  My internet appears to be behaving itself for me today so I'll be round to visit you all!  Thanks for visiting!

Hello everyone!  It's Thursday so it's time to show you my current faves at Quixotic Paperie!  Well, I am lovin' all of the new SCACD releases this year and the newest Retro Crew 2 release by Victoria Case for SCACD is no exception!  And they are great value at £5.75, or you can currently buy all four new stamps at the reduced price of £18.99 which is a whopping 17% off!

For my make today, I used Retro Crew 2 Take a Note...

It's out of stock as I speak but don't worry!  Quixotic Paperie is the only supplier of SCACD stamps in Europe so you send a note to Elaine here, she'll order it in for you!

I wished I looked like this at work, but instead I'm running around like headless chicken going from meeting to meeting!  I matched this sweetie up with papers from the new Cosmo Cricket Upcycle paper pad and kept the retro feel with a little bit of distressing and inking with my Ranger Archival ink pad in Sepia and my Memento London Fog.  I used my Sew Easy Tool with the Blanket Piercer Head and red floss.  You can't see it from the photo, but I also added teeny tiny drops of Viva Decor from my Silver Pearl Pen.

An English rose

Happy Thursday everyone!  Some of you may remember my card here where I used the new release Victoria Bonita by Victoria Case in a French style.  I love this little lady so much that I wanted to try her out in an English style too so I inked her up and here's what I came up...

Isn't she lovely?  I teamed her up papers from the BasicGrey Green at Heart paper pack and those gorgeous Jenni Bowlin pearl pins in cream - aren't they luscious?!!  A real touch of luxury!  You can buy some of those pearly beads that I've used as the flower centres from here.

That's it from me today - see you later on with my DT card for By LoRi Designs!

I am entering my card into Karen's Doodles for the theme of Spring and Bunny Zoe's monthly challenge for happy birthday with lots of pearls.

Ciao!

Happy Thursday everybody!  Here is my make for Quixotic Inspirations using all those lovely Quixotic Paperie goodies!  I couldn't resist but make another card with the SCACD new release with this Victoria Case Retro Crew Call Me...

I love Victoria's new sassy funky style, don't you?  I just had to use the number paper from the My Mind's Eye Stella & Rose Gertie 6 x 6 paper pad to match up with her and I always associate gingham with the 50s so they had to be used too!

If you adore the new Victoria Case Retro Crew as much as me, you can buy the whole collection here at a great price with 20% off!  And Elaine also has the new The Greeting Farm Cheeky Beach and Twirl Anya, both with 10% off here.  Isn't she good to us?!!

That's it from me for now but back later with my DT card for the new By LoRi Designs challenge!

Blog hop to celebrate the SCACD new release!

Hello everyone!  Today we are celebrating the March stamp release from Susana's Custom Art And Card Design!

The Quixotic Paperie design team (that includes me!) and special guest Jane Johnson have the honour to join up with the SCACD design team for this blog hop to celebrate the release of some fantastic new stamps from artist Victoria Case.   This time Victoria has illustrated some stunning ladies - The Bonitas and some super fun Retro Girls!

You should have hopped to me from Dianne Prewitt, but if not then the first blog on the hop you need to go to is Crafts By Kim.

For my make I have used Victoria Bonita by Victoria Case - isn't she beautiful?  As soon as I saw her I wanted to do something really elegant with her - and a French style seemed a perfect fit!

I am definitely going to try her out with a Spanish style, Mexican style and an English rose style!  I teamed her up with my oh so luscious BasicGrey Curio paper pad, used Shimmerz Paints in Evergreen and Coffee (which are 25% off at the moment!) to distress the edges and give it a shimmer (obviously!) and used my Bazzill Basic Jewel Template in Mystical Flourish with 4mm cream flat backed pearls.

For those of you in the UK and EU you can get this and the other lovely Victoria Case stamps from Quixotic Paperie. For those of you in Canada and USA check out Susana's Custom Art And Card Design!

You now need to hop off to the lovely Lori Aragon!  Enjoy the hop!

I am submitting my card into Crazy 4 Challenges to use flowers and the Sweet Stampin challenge for oh so girly!
