Pinque Peacock Mary here!I am so excited to share my project with you today. After a slight mix up I still have a project to share with you today. My mailman was held hostage (not really, lol ) so I am going to show you a card with some PP products I already had on hand.
It seems like forever since I have made a card, but, since I have a Bridal Shower to go to today, I decided to make this one and , of course, use the fabulous Pinque Peacock fancy swirls and Angel stick pins.

This was a quick, fun card to make. I used the CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge with the cut from page 37. I used the card, layer and decorative layers all cut @ 5.50". I must confess that I did this card twice. The first one I used the printed pink paper for the background with the hearts, however it looked too busy.
I really wanted the swirl flower and stickpins to be the main focus so I decided to go with a  solid pink background. In order to further bring out the swirl, I decided to emboss the background with a swirl embossing folder from Cuttlebug. It still needed something so I misted the card stock with Perfect Pearls. Then I decided I wanted the cut on the frame to stand out some more, so I Cut off the sides on the pink layer. This is what I mean:

By doing it this way, it was easy to line up the layers. The printed hearts were then added to the opening. (These are the same ones left over from my "rejected" project.
After adding the hearts, I used some Liquid Pearls and Silver Stickles to bring out the hearts. I also added some black pearl embellishment to the sides. Look how beautiful this is with the flower and stick pins! I added the pink Angel for her and the white one for him. Now I bet you are wondering what I did with the solid heart cut outs. Well, here they are:
If you guessed that I used them on the envelope, then you are correct! This card is so easy to make and would look fabulous in the new May Release colors!!!

A New Award And A Little Purse!

Welcome back everyone. No you are not seeing things my blog has a new look. Ok so it's a work in progress, lol. Thanks Steve for all your help! First I would like to thank Yvette @ http://gammascreativecorner.blogspot.com/ for passing on this wonderful Liebster Blog Award. I feel so honored to receive this.
The origins of the Liebster Blog award are somewhat unclear but the general consensus is that it originated in Germany, Liebster meaning favorite or dearest, to showcase bloggers with fewer than 200 followers. Upon accepting the award the recipient must then pass it on to five more blogs of note.
Here are my choices for the Liebster Blog Award. These ladies do such wonderful work and I am sure they will inspire you too:
1.Tamara @ www.sospoileditscute.blogspot.com
2.Teresa @ http://createenjoyshare.blogspot.com
3. Tess @ www.hiltonlife.blogspot.com
4. Janet @ www.janetscreativeworld.blogspot.com
5. Jen @ www.mybusycraftylife.blogspot.com

I hope you had a chance to see my Hang In There post from yesterday. It was so much fun to do! If you didn't have a chance you can find it here: http://mary-fortheloveofart.blogspot.com/2012/01/hang-in-there.html.
To create this cute purse I used Tags, Bags, Boxes And More. I found the image on pg. 118 and used the fit to page option. The paper is on the Imagine More Cards cartridge. I used the Spellbinders Shapeabilities Ladies Fashion Buckles and the Spellbinders craft foils in silver. In order to achieve a distressed look, I used alcohol inks by Adirondack in silver and pitch black. I love using alcohol inks!!!
In order to add some texture I used a cuttlebug folder. I think it is Cherry Blossoms. Which ever one it was, it matched the design in the paper perfectly.I put some of Tim Holtz techniques to work on this one. After it was embossed I sanded lightly and added some Spun Sugar ink to the edges. Then, to give it a leather like look, I used an embossing ink and added clear embossing powder and then used my heat gun. So cool!!!! I did have to do it several times but I really love the results.
I used a piece of scrap ribbon to lace through the buckle. I just used my ATG gun to adhere to the card and trimmed it even with the edge and added a Celebrate It flowers from Michaels.
I just wanted you to see the side view. The rhinestone was black but I stamped it with the silver alcohol ink and it blended in perfectly and still has it's sparkle!

Be sure to visit http://www.shop.ericascraftroom.com/ from January 24th on. Erica has fabulous prices on all sort of crafting supplies. Tell her For The Love Of Art sent you!!!

Chalk Holder

With the holidays coming I thought I'd make a few teacher gifts. A while back I bought these chalk painted flower pots and decided it was time I did something with them. They were a clearance item from Pottery Barn so I boght a few. I have one that holds my cricut markers but thought they would make a perfect holder for chalk to give to a teacher.
I cut the images of both a girl and boy in vinyl from A Childs' Year cartridge. The shadow layer is in white whereas the top layer is in red. I also cut the image a third time out of card stock but cut the "apple" part off so I just had the leaves to work with.
The bottom was sort of plain so I added a simple white picot ribbon and a few clear rhinestones. Add a box of chalk and you have a simple teachers gift! I do have a few for sale in my etsy shop. By the way, the snow is 5 days since our historic October snow storm. Maybe I'll get a lot of crafting done this winter.

Mom's Cane

Hi all I'm back again, did you miss me, lol! I've been pretty busy with a lot of family stuff however I am never too busy that I can't sneak a craft project or two in. Mom's doing better with her pneumonia and is anxious to get back home. In the meantime she is in a lovely rehab center until the end of next week. Although she is not too happy about staying longer I must admit I am some what relieved since this has been the perfect time to go into her small apartment and do some much needed cleaning and reorganization for her. Unfortunately she has been declared legally blind and at 86 years old having been a voracious reader this is pretty tough for her.
