Thoughts... One or more polishes per post..?

Dear ladies and gents, the other day I discussed the subject "number of polishes in a post" with two blogger friends, and since then it has been buzzing in my mind...
So now I'm curious to hear what you think....

A. What do you prefer when you read nail polish blogs:
- one polish per post
- all the bloggers picks from a given collection (could also be all the polishes from a given collection) in one post - possibly two posts if there are many polishes..?

B. Do you have a personal limit that makes you think:
#1: OH stop, way too many polishes! If yes, what is your max?
#2: Or do you say: bring 'em on as long as the photos are of a good quality, and there aren't too many photos of each polish?

C. What is too many photos of a polish?
I have decided to cut back to 6 photos per polish (removing the one with the bottle base held by 2 fingers) - but it still might be too much?
(I do know it's my blog and I should do what I prefer, but I'm curious..)

My thoughts:
A: If I am looking to buy a collection not yet released I prefer posts with many/all polishes from that collection.
Otherwise posts with one or more polishes both are fine with me,. On my own blog I like to vary, so that I post both single polishes and multiple polishes posts.
B: #2
C: In my opinion some finishes like holo, flakies and rich shimmers needs more photos than a cream. I like a mix of close-ups and different angles/hand positions.

Thoughts... - one brand and ONE collection?

In this "Thoughts..." post I have a question for you - and I would love to hear from you, even if you normally do not comment :)

So, if you an entire month only could use ONE brand and ONE collection or line from that particular brand, what would you choose..?

I would choose Dance Legend and the collection/line WOW Prism because I love almost all the shades, I love wearing them, and there are many to choose between...
But another pick would be the incredible Colors by Llarowe Pretty Woman collection <3

Thoughts... Instagram and other social media

Who would have thought that little old me with a touch of anti social media tendencies - ever would understand that there is a difference in a tag and a hashtag, let alone what kind of thingies they are and that hash isn't the same as the drug (hash is the Danish work for hashish)...?
Well I recently bought a new mobile, a Sony Xperia Z3 - and before I knew it, I a week ago caved in to the pressure and joined Instagram - heavily pushed by Miriam from NailTalk. who kindly answered my silly questions!
I almost could hear her fall to the floor laughing, when I told her I had no idea what a hashtag was - nor that it was different from a tag ;)

I hate to admit it, I think it's so much fun, so I don't plan to leave any day soon...
So if you are in Instagram, I hope you would like to follow me?

You can do it from a computer - just follow this link to Instagram, log in to your Instagram and click the follow button..

- or you can log into Instagram from you mobile and search for mariasnailartandpolishblog and follow!!

I also post occasional cat photos - because snapping photos with my new mobile is so easy :D

Thoughts... - Nemesis colors flooding cuticles

This second "Thoughts..." post is short - see the first right HERE!

I might not be an expert on polishing my nails so that clean up isn't necessary, but normally I don't have mishaps.
There are however two colors that ALWAYS intimidates med and makes me paint too close to the cuticles and sometimes the sides - not on all nails of course but usually one or two of them.
It's black including the super blackened shades and a true red cream - but not any variations of red except the super blackened ones!
It's ALWAYS on my swatch hand, rarely on my right hand (I'm right handed), so I realize it's just something going on in my head, YAY at least something goes on ;)
When I was young in the 60's most available colors were shades of red, and I sucked at applying polish, so it might be a reminiscence from my youth - even if it doesn't explain why it happens with black!
SO am I alone - or does this happen to you with the same colors over and over again..?
If yes - what are your Nemesis colors?

Thoughts... - changes and looking back

Sometimes I have thoughts, questions or just something silly or serious I would like to share with you. Most of the time it will be nail related, but it also can be personal.
So I have decided to do occasional posts called "Thoughts..." - probably most often on Sunday nights here in Denmark - just like this post!
And I will try to keep these posts shorter than this first post!

"Thoughts deep enough to make you put your paw under your chin and close your eyes" - quote by Findus in a philosophical moment, not to be confused with sleep!

Today I want to inform you of two changes on the blog - and share some random thoughts and ask a question or two :)

When I started the page Indies & Co in the top menu I was lazy, I copied all the polish names from my spreadsheet.
BUT the cell formatting moved with it making it impossible to write full lines with more info, just like I do on my Chanel swatches page.
SO the other day I removed the formatting, and I knew in advance that the effect of it would mean a lot of work.
I spent an entire day removing a lot of empty lines, marking the swatched polishes in bold and last but not least edit every single one of them back to "open in a new window" all over again.
Then I added collection names to all the polishes I could find collection names on, so now it looks like I originally intended - so I hope you sometimes use the Indies & Co page, it has a lot of useful information :)

Later - and not yet done patting my back - I remembered how often I get the question: "How many holos do you own?".
I had a such an energetic and geeky superwoman day, so I decided also to go through all posts going 1½ years back to add the "holo" tag to the relevant posts, and I did.
You can see the result in the right hand menu in the "A few tags" area just below the "Brands" section, at the moment 284 posts are holo posts - including nail art, Dance legend WOW Prism etc...
It was QUITE an eye opener to go back like that!
Among the most recent 100 posts going back to the end of November - approximately 75 needed the holo tag.
Among the next 100 approximately back to the middle of October 50-60 did - going further back to the end of August it was around 30 as far as I remember - and when I got back to winter 13/14 and spring only a few needed the holo tag.
So it's safe to say that the indie makers convinced me I could wear holos, they make beautiful holos that have a formula like normal shimmers and creams - and with my ridged nails I love that!
BUT OMG during last winter and spring, I really swatched a LOT of Chanel polishes - and I know a lot of my long time readers maybe didn't quite share that burning interest with me LOL - am I right?
So I really, really hope you don't mind me showing soooo many holos - because I really love them :) (not how I asked that question without actually doing so because I'm afraid of your reply :D)
I do however think that when spring gets closer I will dive into more shimmers and creams again, but for now there will be heading a lot of holo posts your way...
Thank you for reading - if you made it this far!

I am sick and tired of Born Pretty Store spam - now updated

Normally I do not easily rant, but when I am subjected to disrespectful, pushy and relentless spamming even if I politely have said: please stop - I get angry - enough is enough, at this point I truly HATE Born Pretty Store!

In June 2012 I was contacted by Born Pretty Store the first time by "Nicole", and I did two reviews, but the only item that I really wanted to review was a set of nail art brushes - and twice they sent me something completely else by "mistake"...
Even the discount code for my readers was a mix-up - I got the same code as another blogger, who kindly informed me about it!
The required reviews and photos of the reviewed items I was supposed to upload to the BPS website were impossible to upload, because the system "could not see I purchased this item" - DOOH!

August 2012 I cancelled the collaboration and wrote this:
"Frankly I think there has been so many problems, it's now the second time the brushes has not been sent, the only thing I truly wanted to review.
Alle the excuses are good - but still it leaves me with a increasing distrust towards the company...
And then there were all the review problems, I spent a long time reviewing on your website - but nothing ever showed up, and I still haven't gotten any information if it's fixed or not.
When I think of the time I spent so far just to receive a nail polish and some studs - it would have been much cheaper for me to buy them."

March 2013 "Daisy" asked me to do reviews for BPS - I never replied.

Between August 2012 and up to April 14 there were other emails than the one in March 2013, but I deleted them without saving them, and I also did not reply to them.

April 2014 "Allison" asked me to do reviews for BPS - and at this point I was fed up, so I replied and asked her please to stop asking. She was sorry and promised never to contact me again.

June 2014 "Allison" broke her promise and sent the exact same email. Her excuse was: "I forgot to make a note in the records."

July 25th 2014 I suddenly started getting newsletters from BPS, I unsubscribed and got the message "Thank you! You've been removed from our newsletter list, you will not receive newsletter from www.bornprettystore.com anymore". On August 1st. another newsletter came, and I unsubscribed - I have kept screenshots from both occasions.
But today a new newsletter came, so I contacted the customer service and I sincerely hope they will unsubscribe me.

August 19th I was spammed on Pinterest by a comment from "Born Pretty Store/Tina" right HERE. 15 minutes later BPS/she spammed my blog in this post. I replied rather harshly to both comments - but either "Tina" did not read it, or more like did not give a damn - because....

August 20th I received an email from "BPS/Tina" - so as promised yesterday in the blog post comments: "Enough is enough – next time Born Pretty Store, I will do a blog post about your relentless spamming!"

I am however pretty convinced that the pushy spamming will go on as long as I am an active blogger, and in the future my reply will be a link to this post, and I will update this post each time.
But no matter what, I suspect Born Pretty Store do not care or even truly respect bloggers, and I deeply distrust Born Pretty Store!
But at least this rant helped a bit - so thank you for reading if you got this far!!

Of course bloggers will get various kinds of review offers the larger the blog gets, but all other companies have accepted if I thanked no: Glasses, dresses, strips etc. etc. and they did not contact me again. But Born Pretty Store is totally out of reach in their aggressive and relentless spamming!

Have you had similar experiences with Born Pretty Store or other companies - even after you numerous times politely said no thank you?

Update August 21th 2014: You are NOT going to believe this, after having sent links to the company another email have arrived: Hi, This is Kevin from Born Pretty Store, your blog is awesome, and we want to offer some of our Nail Art samples to you, would you like to test and review? Best regards, Kevin

Update April 6th 2015: I honestly believed the spamming had stopped, and was pleased about it but no such luck, today this email arrived: Hi, This is Cynthia from www.bornprettystore.com. I have visited your blog, it's awesome! We'd like to send you some nail art products, would you like to test and review them on your blog? Please feel free to mail me if you are interested in this collaboration. Best regards Cynthia
