Grand Opening and First Sneak Peek
Imagine your FAVORITE thing in the world when you were little. {If it helps, close your eyes and just take a walk to that part of your memory....got it now? Ok good.} You had a bad day at school, or you got in trouble, got into a fight with your sibling. It's the one thing you could turn to and release every emotion you ever felt: the happy-feel-good stuff and the I-don't-know-why-I'm-sad-but-I-am stuff. What was it for you? What took you into your own world of happiness, untouchable-ness, feel-goodness? For me, there was nothing that could come between me and my colored pencils. Or graphite pencils. Or me and my crayons. Or me and my fresh pieces of white paper. I'd hear a song on my headphones walking home from school, and I couldn't wait to rush home so I could draw out my interpretation. I loved art class. I never took it as an elective in high school because I was afraid of criticism. I didn't want the teacher to critique my escape - the one thing I always enjoyed and didn't want anyone to ever tell me I was doing wrong. {Boy, do I regret that!}
But guess what? No matter how I tried to keep this little tiny "fun-ness" to myself, someone noticed that I actually did an ok job at it and told me "Hey! You should draw me some stamps!" That was my mom {President and designer of Peachy Keen Stamps}, about 4 years ago, and she's been pushing me ever since. I opened my own stamp company in January 2010 and named it Market Street Stamps {the hardest part about starting a company - besides the whole money thing - is naming your company!}.
I tried to think about what my company would represent {all the things I admired or desired at previous companies I'd worked for} - fairness, willingness to be dynamic, friendliness, honesty, understanding, and integrity. So...what could I compare all those lovely things to? One of the best places for my soul - the farmer's market {and plus, our offices are located on Market St. - cool coincidence!}. Who doesn't love to go and talk to the people who are growing their vegetables, who are beading their jewelry, and growing the flowers they're going to put on their table? Who doesn't like not having to haggle with a middle man, going right to the source and seeing the artist sitting in the smallest of spaces showing their finest pieces? I love the variety you get walking into the market; the blend of flavors, sounds and smells. It's all magic to me. Every single time!
I hope to bring you the best of both worlds - the absolute best in a clear stamp {this isn't your typical acrylic stamp - in fact, it's not acrylic at all. It's trade-quality photopolymer!}, and fresh new twists for your stamping designs. Market Street Stamps will host a variety of images ranging in sizes small enough for envelopes & stationary to images large enough and coordinated for scrapbooking. I'm so very proud to bring you our very first sneak peek of one of our new sets today!!
Isn't she {or he!} sweet? I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to share my illustrations and designs with you, the stamper {or not-yet-but-want-to-be-stamper}, to create works of art to share with all your friends and family. I hope you'll join my husband, Jorge, and I this weekend for our Grand Opening of Market Street Stamps online. We'll have two new releases in addition to the other stamps currently in our line for sale. There will be free shipping until Sunday night, and fun surprise prizes throughout the weekend! If you have any questions, please do feel free to contact me.
Just as a side note, I'll still continue to post ALL of my creations on my personal blog as I LOVE to stamp and I adore creations by all stamp companies - not just my own!! Everyone has their own unique style and it's refreshing to have a different look on your projects every now and then! You can find all Market St. creations right here! I'll have another peek for you tomorrow - these are just too much fun! Off to create some more, thanks for stopping by! ~ xo Angelica
