One good thing came out of it

Grace and I were in a car accident last week. This was the second accident I've had in the last 2 weeks. Talk about bad luck! The first one wasn't so bad. Some guy rear ended us while we were only going like 10 miles an hour. Luckily, Grace wasn't in the car. It still shook us pretty bad, and I had to get checked to make sure baby brother was fine, but other than that it wasn't a huge deal. But the second accident happened a week later when Grace and I were in the car. I was going about 35 mph through an intersection. I had a green light when all of a sudden another car comes barreling through the intersection, I slammed my breaks on so hard but I still hit her car! It was so scary! We pulled over and both of us got out of the car. I was shaking, and I asked the lady what she was doing. In her broken English she said "you hit me"! And I was like oh my gosh, you ran a red light, and I have my 21 month old in the car and I'm pregnant! She just kept saying, I hit her. So at this point I was getting really worried that no witnesses were going to pull over and that it was going to be my word against hers. Luckily, 2 seconds later 3 people pulled over and all said they saw the accident and that the other lady clearly ran the red light. I was so grateful for them. I immediately started crying, I was so overwhelmed and I felt so shaky, like I was going to pass out. One of the witnesses called the police to come file a report, and I called Mark to come down to help me because I really wasn't thinking straight at this point. So after the police officer left, the other lady's car had to be towed away, but luckily my car was still drivable. Mark saw how out of it I was and drove me to straight to the hospital so I could have myself, baby brother, and Grace checked out. They brought me up to labor and delivery and I was thinking that I was probably going to be there for like an hour or so. I was so wrong! they had me change into a gown and hooked me up to a heart beat monitor and contraction monitor. I was having a lot of cramping too, so they gave me ultrasound to see if my placenta was still attached to my uterus, and it was, but they were worried because I was having small contractions and they didn't want me to start going into labor at 24 weeks. So they said to get comfortable because I was going to be there for a while. But I'm so glad they were extra cautious with me to make sure 100% that baby boy was ok. They told me I was going to have to stay overnight if the contractions and heart beat didn't start to look better. I was dreading that! I really did not want to stay overnight by myself, I know I'm such a baby. Plus, I've never been away from a Grace a single night since she was born. So I pretty much just got all cozy and turned on the biggest loser and prepared myself to sleep in the hospital. But then at like 10 at night the nurse came in and said the baby's heart beat was looking a lot better and so were my contractions so she said she would let me go home if I promised to take it easy since there was still a small chance that my placenta could still rupture or that I could go into pre-term labor. I was so relieved that baby boy was ok, and I could go home to my family.
Grace got checked out and she seems to be just fine. Thank goodness for car seats! I got pretty bad whip lash, but other than that I'm feeling tons better! And the one good thing that came out of all of this was that I got more pics of baby boy! Sorry, they wouldn't turn so they're all sideways. He looked so cute. The doctor that did my ultrasound said he was measuring big and that I was probably a week ahead, so hopefully he comes sooner!, But not too soon =)
I've been so scared to drive lately. I'm like the old grama driver going 20 mph everywhere I go. Can you blame me though?? It's been so crazy! I swear I haven't been in an accident since I was 17 and now 2 in 2 weeks. Terrible. I'm a huge advocate for not talking or texting while driving. It's so dangerous! So don't do it, and pay attention everybody. Sorry this is so long, whoever reads this whole thing, good job!
