Another implication was that from his earliest youth, he learned to view things from differing viewpoints. Two sets of parents, two domestic situations, two languages, two cultures (with an exotic third over the horizon) meant as many different frames of reference, which constantly opened up new perspectives: perspectives which, with all the traveling back and forth, he spontaneously learned to unite into a single picture.

It was a situation that preprogrammed his mind, as it were, for relativity, 

a concept that would later come to take a fundamental place in his ideas and work.
