Like a rolling stone....

Earlier this week, I was watching an interesting (if somewhat long) documentary on Bob Dylan... and so that is what inspired me this week for our theme on SUNDAY POSTCARD ART of HOUSES.

I created a set of houses, using vintage tickets from buses, rides, etc.

I've used some of the lyrics from the Bob Dylan song 'like a rolling stone' I always wonder if it was written about Edie Sedgewick.

Perfume is Personal Magic

This week's theme on Sunday Postcard Art is PERFUME chosen by Hazel

loved making this one
There are so many layers on this one... i started with a base of several layers of old book papers, then layered some rice paper on top from Stamperia. then various paint and collage layerings

last week's theme was chosen by Cindy and was PUZZLES... I actually made it last week but I was waiting for a quote to finish it off.

Africa has her mysteries, and even a wise man cannot understand them

This week, our theme on Sunday Postcard Art is AFRICA... it was chosen by my friend Sabine.

well, I thought, I have a set of stamps that have African animals on... could I find them... no!
next plan was to use a napkin... a friend of mine Umut has sent me a few napkins to use. And an African style was in the stash... so out it came.

The elephant and tree are from the napkin.... this is my second piece of napkin because Im so heavy handed with the clear gesso I completely ruined the first one. i love that you can see the layered collaging underneath the napkin layer. There's also a postage stamp there from Africa. The rest is painted and texture pasted and a tiny bit of stamping.

Thanks for looking

Nothing is as old as yesterday's news

This week's theme on Sunday Postcard Art is NEWSPAPER ... it was chosen by Marion :-) I love the theme but alas I am not a fan of newspapers

I don't read newspapers, or watch the news. It's probably totally irresponsible of me and un-adult. But Little A usually tells me what's happening in the world. Besides the environmental factor there is generally no reason for not watching the news except believing things that we are told to believe. I do think we are manipulated by the media into thinking things that aren't true.

When I see newpapers, i just think of trees... and litter. On the buses around Derby they give you a free newspapers and by the end of the day, the newspapers are littered all over the bus.

here's my postcard, i've used papers, a newspaper stamp. rub-ons. tim holtz paper doll.

the beginnings of the process. lots of layers of ephemera to start with then using a newspaper stamp, and crackle paste
here's the stamp i used... not sure where it's from.

Every Flower is a Soul Blossoming in nature

This week's SPA was chosen by Astrid... she does some amazingly gorgeous Vintage style work. The theme being VINTAGE FLORALS ... yay I thought what a great and general theme....

then.... I was stumped... until last night when I sat down, got my collage images out and had a play. I had packed all my art stuff away as I had had yet another hounding visit from the council. So with the art stuff packed away, Id clearly packed away my motivation too.

Luckily, I have a bountiful stash of the Tim Holtz paperdolls at hand as I have yet to purchase any new ink for my printer. I have so many preprinted images anyway. I felt sure I could find something to work with.

This is the second postcard I made, I layered up the background with vintage papers, then used a napkin with flowers on it in the background. I added texture paste and the paperdolls, The flowers are cut from a scrapbook paper.

This way my first postcard for this theme... i love the colours on this one. i wasn't too sure if I had added enough florals.

I was in the mood to get messy I know that. lol
