She Aromatherapy Nail Varnish: Lustrous Pearls

A couple of months ago I won an entire collection of nail polish called All That Sparkles from Australian brand She Aromatherapy.  The All That Sparkles collection is a selection of 6 micro-glitter polishes and somewhat of a mystery collection in that I can't find any reference to it on the She Aromatherapy website or anywhere else online! It may be an upcoming collection or it may be a sample collection.  If I happen to find out I'll let you know...in the meantime here's the first swatch.

Lustrous Pearls is more of a metallic pewter than a pearl shade as such and is a dense micro-glitter polish.  I applied two coats and finished with top coat to set the polish and add shine.  I was expecting difficulties with removal but this wasn't too tough at all for a glitter - although it did leave minute stubborn sparkles around my cuticles and fingers afterwards...

Natio: Stardust

The polish I'm wearing in this post is what I chose to wear for my birthday celebrations a few weeks ago. I wanted something glam but neutral at the same time - you know, to go with the outfit changes, right? *wink*

Stardust was one of a trio of shades in Natio's tiny but stunning Metallic Nail Colour Collection released last year. Stardust is a highly metallic pewter and the perfect metallic neutral. Full stop. I really can say no more about the colour.  The fact that the polish is so metallic did mean some more of the dreaded brushstrokes to deal with - and I was in a rush doing my nails which never helps -  but the photos do exaggerate and the finish was cleaner in reality.  This is two coats with topcoat.

Just showing my age again but this colour reminds me of the polishes I used to wear all the time in the 1990's!

OPI: Haven't The Foggiest

Hello! Yes I'm still here!

Am I the only one who finds it a little hard getting out of the starting gate in January?  To have a little introductory ramble:   this month has been a bit all over the place with the weather (just too freaking hot!), me getting back to work after a month long break at home with my boy, and getting my (no longer) little boy organised for his first year of high school - to give international readers some context in Australia high school starts in 7th grade.  It's not a giant leap but it's a milestone nonetheless.  Ramble over.

Now the reason I'm here - another nail polish post.  This time I'm posting one of the very few colours I bought from OPI's San Francisco collection released in 2013.  Haven't The Foggiest is a pretty amazing polish actually so I'm particularly glad I bought it.  I thought it was going to be a standard silver foil but it's much more of a pewter and that makes it infinitely more interesting to me.  It's got a darker edge to it and I can almost see a duochrome happening too - a winner for sure! I applied two coats and omitted the topcoat this time.

All things going well I have a video update on my beauty diet planned for my next post :)

Vintage polish: Sweet Georgia Brown Colors - Coco Loco

Wow have I got an old polish for you today!

I've had this bottle of Coco Loco from discontinued makeup brand Sweet Georgia Brown literally since the heady decade of the 1990's.  Back in those days I was crazy about metallic polishes and Coco Loco is so metallic it's almost a chrome.  This highly reflective pewter/taupe metal shade is one I still have a fondness for wearing and it's still in great condition for an extinct polish - no thickening or lumpiness whatsoever.  The other cute thing about this polish is it's scented.  Yep, they were doing scented polish way back in the '90's!!!  It has a weirdly pleasant scent of chocolate which obviously goes hand in hand with the Coco Loco description.

This is two coats with top coat.   All photos were taken outdoors in cloudy conditions...

Does anyone remember Sweet Georgia Brown Colors?

 Until next time.

Is Topshop's Zodiac a dupe for Chanel Graphite?

I hope you're all having a happy weekend!  Mine's almost over...

I was wearing Topshop's Zodiac on my nails all last week and I couldn't stop admiring my nails.  Zodiac is from Topshop's limited Sisters Of The New Moon collection.  It's  peculiarly described as black although this stunning gold flecked pewter foil polish is anything but that.  It's pretty well amazing and my camera kept freaking out, having trouble focusing on this complex sparkly polish.  With a base and top coat I had no chips or tip wear all week either, which suited me fine because I wasn't in a hurry to remove this beauty.

Now, I went past the Chanel counter late last week and picked up the tester bottle of Graphite to compare to my Zodiac manicure.  Now to my eye, my Zodiac nails were an exact match to Graphite in the bottle!  It makes this little bargain all the sweeter because I bought Zodiac for $12.95AUD which is a heck of lot less than around $39AUD I'd have to pay for a bottle of Chanel.

So - Do you think this is a dupe for Graphite?

*EDIT* - For a direct comparison click on Kristy of The Polish Haven's post here.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
