T.B.N: Glitter 908

Hello :)

I had to try and salvage my underwhelming YSL mani so I added my favourite extra ingredient - glitter!

This is two coats of iridescent Glitter 908 from the cheap 'n' cheerful Australian brand T.B.N aka Totally Beautiful Nails.  Yes there's a little bit of tip shrinkage but I still think this polish has improved the look.  There's just enough coverage to hide the brushstrokes and just enough glitter to give the original mani a little bit of extra bling.  Once again I must say thanks to the Glitter Fairy!

Revlon: Icicles - take 2!

Hi there!

I'll try not to ramble too much tonight.  I've swatched Revlon's Icicles previously (here) but decided this blue iridescent glitter would be THE perfect enhancement for yesterday's Wild About Violet with its blue undertones so here we go again.  I added two coats and the result pleases the little girl in me.  This is ethereal sugary goodness on my fingertips...

I felt pretty in pink wearing this mani!

Until next time.

OPI: Starbright Sparkles II

Because  I felt sick and lazy this past week,  I was also lazy about painting my nails.  I didn't want to bother with a colour needing precise application and I didn't want to worry about any chips showing in my mani by week's end.  Still, being the nail polish addict I am I had to paint my nails, so I found my low maintenance - yet subtly sparkly - solution in OPI's Starbright Sparkles II.

This sheer iridescent shade is from OPI's Yokohama Collection.  It's very sheer (I used 3 coats here) but the sparse holo glitter adds a bit of interest to an otherwise safe manicure and it would be great as a french mani base.

Anyway, this is as bare as my nails are going to get:

On an unrelated note this is a message to Vintage Makeup - I' m glad you found yesterday's lipstick post useful!

Until my next post.

Vintage MAC polish: Ice Tease

The weather's turned icy down here in Melbourne and we had one month's rainfall just last night!  That very nicely leads me into today's MAC polish post:  Ice Tease.

This colour is quite unique in my collection as it's a matte iridescent (or duochrome? or multichrome?) pearl with a green/pink flash depending on what angle the light hits it.

Here are LOTS of pictures taken at different angles to give you the idea - please excuse the nubbins, I had a pretty bad tear on my index fingernail so they all had to go :(

Bottle shots first - So it's pink in the bottle....

No, wait, it's green...

Hmm...

And on the nails - with flash:

In full sun...

And finally, in the shade...

It took three coats of colour to achieve this coverage.  So pretty!

That's all for now.

Vintage MAC polishes

This is a quick post to introduce you to my modest collection of vintage MAC nail polishes.  Some, if not all of these are purchases from the 1990's!

These are:
Ice Tease -
Pearl with irridescent pink & green undertones

Luxurious -
 Chrome pink

Alumina -
Blue toned metallic silver

Abstract -
Dusty pink shimmer

These swatches on tape give you a better look at the different colours and finishes:

Alumina

I used to have a few more old MAC colours, long gone:  Rebel, a gorgeous deep purple creme with blue shimmer and Rocker, a deep burgundy shimmer which is still available in MAC's core line.

I'll post some manis over the coming week.

Until next time.

My first NOTD: OPI La Paz-itively Hot

Hmmm, we're almost two thirds of the way through summer and the weather has only been teasing us.  One good hot day, followed by several wet, humid days.  Nothing too inspiring so I have to create my own summer inspiration.

Anyway I wanted to wear something that screams 'SUMMER' to me so I searched for the truest hot pink I could find.  The winner in my collection is....La Paz-itively Hot!

Direct sun

This is a beautiful glossy hot pink with a hint of irridescent blue shimmer and sunlight really picks it up.  Got lots of compliments from the girls at the office today too so it seems to work under the fluoro lights as well.

I've had this colour forever and only tried it now.  I actually remember ordering it from the TV Shopping Network (TVSN) years ago before David Jones & Petra stocked OPI.  My research tells me that this colour was launched in 2002 as part of OPI's South American collection.

For the sake of comparison here's a pic in the shade:

That's it for today.
