FABY: Sunglasses and Bikini

We're now well and truly into Autumn but a few weeks ago the weather still felt distinctly summery so I chose a manicure to go with those summer feels...

Sunglasses and Bikini is perfectly named and this blue cream lacquer from FABY reminds me of a cool, deep swimming pool.  Application was trouble-free and done in two coats.  Wear time was pretty good too with no chips appearing until day 4 and removal was nice and clean with no blue-green staining left behind on the nails or cuticles.  I must say that FABY nail lacquers have consistently impressed me and I find their quality comparable to other salon brands like OPI and Essie.

FABY: Don't Disturb My Puppy

Hello again!

Can we just take a moment to appreciate how ridiculously cute the name of today's nail polish is? Don't Disturb My Puppy is definitely cute but what does it have to do with the colour?  Well FABY have stretched it a little with their description of this pastel eggshell blue polish as "...Pastel baby blue, sweet like a new puppy".  Okay then, whatever you say - although I've personally yet to cast my eyes over a pastel blue puppy except for a cuddly toy!

Application was as trouble free as I've come to expect with FABY polishes and two coats provided perfectly opaque coverage.  Wear time was average and this chipped on me after a few days, although I did some heavy duty cleaning the day I painted my nails and I wasn't protecting my manicure with gloves so that might explain it.   And the colour...well it's just as cute as the name as you can see in the pictures.

FABY: Mrs Liberty

Now let's resume normal programming with a nail swatch post.

I've featured FABY nail lacquers quite a few times on this blog over the past year but have never mentioned they are cruelty free - Oops! To refresh everyone's memory, besides that little key thing FABY polishes are free of the "Big 5" nasties:  formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, dibutyl phthalate, toluene, and camphor.  Right, so those important bits of information are out of the way let's get onto the new polish!

At the end of 2015 I was grateful to receive a little delivery of FABY blue polishes to celebrate summer and as I was able to make my own selections I was very happy with the shades!  I'm starting off with the brightest of the three in this post, the "bright cyan blue for the Statue of Liberty" called, of course, Mrs Liberty.  Mrs Liberty is from FABY's Karim collection, which represents the colours of New York.  It's that sort of aquatic blue that I love wearing in summer so that's why I gravitated toward it first.

The application was trouble-free and probably could have been a one-coater although I've applied two coats here.  Wear time was comparable to some of the "gel" polishes I've been wearing lately so I got through 4 days prior to chipping, and removal was easy too as considering the aqua blue shade I didn't end up with any staining afterwards.

This is one gloriously bright summery blue and I really enjoyed wearing it.

Question: Do you want me to mention if a product is PETA or Leaping Bunny endorsed? I've found that these organisations do not list all CF products but I will include the endorsements for now.

I will indicate where products are cruelty free and/or vegan and/or certified organic as below:

Vegan: No
Certified Organic: No

FABY: The Dance Of The Graces

Continuing with my spring nail polish fling my final FABY swatch is a very spring-appropriate blue.

The Dance Of The Graces is just a beautiful periwinkle blue cream - It's not particularly unique yet I still can't get enough of periwinkle blue polishes and will always be drawn to them I think.  The application of this polish was consistent with the previous two FABY polishes I've tried, as it was super smooth and even on the nail with no patchiness at all.  For whatever reason this shade was a little bit more durable and easily made it through the entire working week before I saw signs of wear and tear - The Dances Of The Graces obviously loves me as much as I love it *wink* because it was my favourite shade to wear.

FABY: The Ladies Of Leonardo

Bright pink nails are back on the radar this season as I've seen in magazines and beauty catalogues. I probably follow trends more accidentally than anything as I'd rather follow my mood when it comes to colour, however, I'm bang on trend...on point...on fleek (lol!) with this manicure!

The Ladies Of Leonardo is my second pick from FABY's polish collection and it is without a doubt a bright, hot pink.  At first glance I thought this was a glossy cream but there is the barest hint of pearly shimmer visible in the sunlit pictures. This polish was another easy two-coater, with no issues whatsoever with application or coverage and it lasted about five days with a topcoat before I got noticeable chipping on a few nails.  I've opted for natural daylight pictures this time as they came out the most true to colour.

FABY: Springtime Art

My first spring manicure is a good one even if I say so myself!

I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to select some polish shades from cruelty-free brand FABY for swatching so I chose a trio of fresh and bright spring colours, the first being the vibrant green Springtime Art.  Springtime Art is from FABY's Renaissance collection and perfectly described on their site as "...the colour of new grass shoots as spring unfolds." I'm not going to even try to top that so I'll just talk about application: a superbly smooth cream formula that applied evenly and perfectly opaque in two coats.  The pictures can do the rest of the talking.

FABY nail lacquer: FABY Is My Boss!

So, who's been getting on board with Pantone's 2015 colour of the year and embracing Marsala?

I've been slow to dip into it myself so I'm taking baby steps with a nail polish sent to me for review from 5 Free salon nail brand FABY.  FABY Is My Boss! (yes that's the shade name!) is described by the brand as a "classic berry-tinged mocha crème" and it's a deep red-brown - perhaps even a little plum - in keeping with the Marsala theme.

The formula was trouble-free and I had no issues with application as again the polish was just the right consistency to glide onto the nail without flooding or pooling and the neat, narrowish perfectly cut brush made placement easy, with full even coverage achieved in the usual two coats.  I really put this polish to the test this time to see how durable it is and I remained chip-free until day 6.  Not too bad.

Now onto the swatches, which have all been taken on another gloomy Melbourne day.  It's like someone said 'Autumn's here!' and flicked the switch on our weather...

I love the versatility of this shade as it can appear to be either warm or cool depending on what it's worn with. Now that I'm in a Marsala frame of mind I need to go stash diving to see what other Marsala items I can come up with!

My Valentines Day manicure (featuring FABY Innocent Fantasy and Valentina's Day)

Hello beauties!

I've come back up for air after another hectic few days around here so I'm posting my Valentine's Day manicure a few days after the fact. To those who celebrated, I hope you had a good one! We had a crazy busy weekend and hubs and I actually went out for Valentines dinner the following evening, which is a deliberate way of celebrating our way on our own (slightly "rebellious") terms.  Every day is potentially Valentines Day right? Okay at least I did find the time for an appropriately themed manicure...

I received a duo set of nail lacquers from Italian brand FABY in Valentine shades just in time for my speedy manicure - and I even managed some simple nail art this year! The brand is new to me so I've grabbed some info from their Australian site:  Originally launching in Milan Italy early in 2013 FABY have recently arrived in Australia. The lacquer shades are styled and designed, "...working in partnership with Milan’s leading garment houses who design and produce all the exquisite fabrics and textures for the world’s more recognised fashion labels; including Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Salvatore Ferragamo and Fendi."  The lacquers are 5 Free so don't contain DBP, Toluene, Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin or Camphor.

For my manicure I was going to keep it simple and stick with one colour so I applied two coats of the baby pink Innocent Fantasy for an understated look.  Application was smooth and easy to control with the medium sized brush and despite being a pastel this polish gave excellent opaque coverage.  I applied top coat as I was going to stop here...

Innocent Fantasy

...but the next morning I was inspired to take it just a little further with a little bit of simple nail art.  I cut a heart shape out of some tape to make a stencil and filled in my accent nail with a single coat of the pink toned red Valentina's Day...

Again I found the polish formula to be that smooth consistency, being neither too thick nor too watery so it was easy to get a controlled result.  I wore this manicure for two days so I can't comment on wear time but I have another colour to try for a weekday manicure so I'll put that to the test soon.

FABY nail lacquers come in a range of 205 shades and are priced at $19.90AUD. They are available from leading salons or the FABY website here.
